1. Wow! How did I miss this? Great stuff indeed. Thanks for posting. Nice also to see some love for Buke and Gase. IMO, they deserve to be more known. best, bert
 2.
Huh! I'd have to play one of these to hide my arse:
Mistake, Mark. It's your left ham that is the biggest. That's what mirrors will do for you, eh? best, bert
 3. Hey Ross, Welcome back then. You were here in october 2011, weren't you? Or am I mistaking you for someone else? Anyway, re-enjoy! best, bert
 4. Hey Iain(?), Welcome to BC, and good luck with the hunt for even lighter gear. Should you need to hear others' ideas on this, then just say the word and people here will share some wisdom. Me I went for Barefaced cabs, and they're in high regard on BC, but not everyone loves them, and some are quite critical. Enjoy the site! best, bert
 5. There exists quite some love for the Ashbory, and I personally wouldn't be without it, but I woudln't want it to be my only bass either. To me it sounds lovely when I'm in the mood for that sound, so to speak, but is quite demanding due to the scale, and of course requires quite a lot of time before one can gig it. That would also translate to many takes during recording - seeing as you're new to this. I'd say: keep it if you can whilst still buying a more regular bass. 200 quid will give you a good one, even when buying new. best, bert
 6.
Thanks, but did you mean to post it here...?
Well, you did ask in your sig that God post in another forum, so I only had to decide what exactly constitutes another forum. best, bert
 7.
There's a reason they're waist high. If I stacked two cabinets I'd run the risk of hanging myself.
8.
Got the power supply today so that shoud save on a few batteries.
Well done, sir. What model did you get? Is that a model with different types of output so as to cater for different brands of pedals? best, bert
 9.
You get a totally fundamental bass sound that can be used on any kind of recording and at any kind of gig.
Funny thing is I needed a guitarist to be reminded of that before buying my first bass. Got all sorts of advice from the bassists on an e-mail list, but a guitarist told me to trust him on exactly that aspect, and get me a second hand Precision. As I couldn't find one within my budget, I eventually went for the Corvette, but later learnt off BC that the guitarist had been right - not that the Corvette is not great in its own right. Dread Bass, I dunno whether others have specified, but on BC the Fender Roadworns have been said to be very good basses, and also the Fender American Vintage series. I understand also the Squier Matt Freeman is very good, as are the almost famous Squier Classic Vibes. Good luck! best, bert
 10. Well, this seems like a goodbye to BC from me then. Love for a Precision? No effing way! Love for sunburst? No effing way! Slight detail only: I do now own two Ps and am ordering my third, and have started lusting for sunburst as well. You guys are ruining me! Financially, tastially and morally! You're no fun anymore! best, bert
 11. Hey Funkslut, A very late welcome (it's 2:40 AM here) to BC! What a lovely post you opened with. Though I'd say most on here can't have deep and meaningful discussions about hi-tech gear or the latest whizz bang basses, or deep and meaningful discussions at all. So you're old then. You may already have noticed many people here are old as well. (Me, I have both senility and some sort of Alzheimer creeping up to me, so I too am a member in the League of Enjoy Now.) Liked your gear list. Have actually ordered a Midget and a Compact myself. I tell the ex that Alzheimer comes with weak backs! Anyway, enjoy your stay! May it be long. best, bert
 12.
But God is the reason men have nipples......
Nice post. best, God
 13.
Clumsy but smart. Sometimes.
I meant it differently, as in that I'd trip on them if they were on top of the stack.
 14. Great post indeed. As if I needed any more guilt than I already feel! However, apart from Alpha Male Tea Party, I also sorely missed In Tyler We Trust and Abandoned Stars - two more BC'ers bands that IMhO are great. Proudly wear my ITWT t-shirt as often as it's clean or not too smelly (and I also have an AS button in a drawer somewhere ). Sadly I predict that I won't listen to much more than I did in the past. Am trying though, and trying to spread the word. I can't make myself to vote before having heard every song twice and concentrated. This takes time. Nonsense to some, essential for me. best, bert
 15. IME, the trouble with giving band members the right to block songs has been that there's always one who'll block enormous amounts. Quarrels ensue, and people leave or are thrown out. I'd like to try to have a rule about blocking no more than a certain amount or percentage or something - not that I've thought through this idea. If it were up to me personally, any person who blocks or tries to block enormous amounts of songs just doesn't belong in that particular band, or is a jerk, and thus out. As mentioned previously, of course all of this has to play out before gigging. Member-walking-out-in-protest seems like a sure sign that something is very wrong with the band or that individual. best, bert
 16.
<2p> Save your money and buy some new strings - that will do more for your sound than any fx pedal. </2p>
Stable tip: fx pedals need batteries! I'll get me waistcoat. best, bert
 17.
Also I'm clumsy so I don't have to worry about tripping on them.
Not very clumsy then. best, bert
 18. "Flabbergasted" seems like the appropriate word here. best, bert
 19.
I always struggle when I hear grown men/women say phrases like "I'm allowed....."
Yeah, I can see that, and must say I struggle too when hearing mates talk like that (I've noticed most of me mates talk just like that). However, isn't this usually a condensed way of expressing oneself without going into details about the relationship? I don't know, but I kinda hope it is. best, bert
 20. This thread, especially the latest posts, reminded me of an article I read about leftie/rightie kayaking paddles, and I'd guess the same goes for stringed instruments: Most people can easily adapt to using either right- or left-handed paddles no matter their own leftiness of rightiness. However, som two percent of the population were said to need a certain paddle, and the choice of paddle was not statistically related to their being a leftie or righty. As said, I think something similar goes for stringed instruments. Me, I can hardly turn a key with my right hand, and must throw balls with my left hand, but I also must shoot with right-handed guns, and play right-handed basses. best, bert
 21.
As of today I'm now 2x 2x12
Aaaaaw! Congrats, man. Are these the DBs with the rock tone? How's it sound with the GK? Hard Rockin' perhaps? (BTW, I like the bass mucho too. KingBass? In case, which one?) best, bert
 22.
I guess my spare cash would be better spent on lessons.
Be careful with the reasonability now! Before you know it, you'll get a rash that will quickly develop into LAS. Again: be careful! BTW, thanks to both you and Iana for some great posts. I learned stuff. best, bert
 23. Hi Mike, Welcome, man! I'm sure you'll thrive in our midst. Sounds like it at any rate. You own or have owned quite some nice basses, I must say. Please tell about the SR506 - I can't remember any words about them. Have you compared it to the 300s and 700s? Nice to see you build basses too. I'm currently building a body to put bought hardware and neck on, but I'm sure to fail. Hey, I might buy You're Next build then! Anyway, enjoy the forums, fora and forii, and don' be no stranger. best, bert
 24. Hey Ian, Welcome to BC. Nice intro you wrote, and I guess some people will recognise aspects of this. Me, I just started on bass after a long life as d.i.c.k. (dick in charge of keyboards) (I believe it's actually Dork, but hey) Anyway, continue enjoying the thing, and don't be a stranger. BTW, you should hear Leen's band. Great brass arrangements. best, bert
