2. Blimey. Only other one similair I've seen is the Twin neck Blazer Phil Lynott used to own
3. You need to pick up a 90's MIM - Didnt realise how Jazzlike the neck was till I got my US Precision. And free bumpage.
4.
Well, in my opinion. The only way to truly compare something, like in an experiment, there must be a control, a non-variable. The way in which you play and where you play, how much or how little you dig in, how hard you pluck or how smoothly cannot be guarantee uniform, we are human after all. I think you played the first one very smoothly and was your best, the second slightly harder and percussive and the last one, much like the first. If people are really interested in going to the nth degree and doing comparrisons, there needs to be a control. The control would have to be a mechanical devive to guarantee consistancy. But thats kinda silly in my eye. But then, I don't get the need to take things to this degree, its mostly about the fingers. My tuppenceworth. I do hope I haven't created outrage, though this is basschat.
No I see your point, and its valid. All three were played in the same position fingerstyle (I unfortunately grew up playing Iron Maiden so have to restrain myself from digging in too much). On reflection, the one in the middle has the action set a tad lower than the other two so good ears - I did think it sounded a little more percusive as a result of this. The basic idea was putting three basses direct through flat EQ with someone playing the same basic progression using the same style/position of playing and see if anyone could spot which was which without any preconceptions or visual stimuli.
5.
I enjoyed listening to what you have done. It is interesting, but for me technique is far too great a factor.
How so?
6. Dean Metalman Flying V. Foul thing - Neck was like a barge and it sounded awful. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Tied with a Vox White Shadow - my first bass.
7. Edited for Spoilers at the top.
8.
'60 P's - which is which? http://img.photobuck...0131_091609.jpg
9. Just to add they are all going into Amplitube3 totaly flat - no eq, no effects, no amp sim. Sorry about the clicking - my PC is about on its knees!
10.
The link just shows up as code?
Fixed

14.
Yes maybe thats a good plan Oli. If someone wanted to let people know about one they've seen, get the sellers details first, then they could post it and details can be exchanged via PM. I'm sure BC isn't the only source of this info, and eBay, TB etc are regularly patrolled - simply because they have to be seen to go after someone and they can't/won't go after the people that actually make the fakers... But now that BC is known, with a stickied thread no less its pretty easy to catch one that might have been missed...
You'd have to be careful with that one as I'm sure our friend John would read that as you "facilitating the sale". I dont think I'd want to be the one to see who blinked first.
15. If I hadn't just bought a US P from BC I would be all over this like a rash...
16. Personal Precision Nirvana reached... L to R - 1996 Fender MIM "Traditional" Precision Bass, 2012 Fender USA FSR Hand Stained US Standard, Mighty Mite Bitsa.
17. Bought Dan's FSR US Precision - Arrived quickly, as described. Great comms and kindly held it for me for a small deposit. Thanks Dan!
18. Was in Dublin for "The Vibe" this weekend just gone 3rd - 6th. Visited Phils grave in Howth and left an E string there. My words - "You silly b****** ". I know when his mum visits she suposedly kicks the headstone and tells him what a silly git he was. There but for the grace of god and a few good choices go I.
19.
Hmm, I was really hoping for an invite to perform this year, but sadly despite hopefull signs, nothing materialised....... Ah well, maybe next year! Have a great time & please keep us posted as to how it went!
I was hoping the same to be fair - was discussing with a few others going about who we felt should be there. Dead chuffed to see the Low Riders, not too keen (I am being very polite) on The Experience for a few reasons. Great musicians and all that.
20. i WISH! Nah just going as a regular punter - I have a mate plays guitar for Skint Lizzy based in Aberdeen.
21. Im flying out to Dublin Thursday Morning for the "Vibe for Philo". Anyone from here going this year?
22. Do all the JV's have "Fender" in big font then a smaller "Squier"? Curious.
23. Got one on thomann. was tempted for a minute but ended up dropping a deposit on a US FSR P for sale on here (the Wine red one) - looks similair!
24. Deposit placed one one from here... FSR. That is one massive release of GAS on my part.. thanks for the advice and opinions all.
25. I dropped a Gotoh 201 onto my MIM P. The Schaller bridges are 3 hole from memory and are high mass with rollers. I love the look of badass's but didnt fancy chancing the effect it can have on action height (like mine quite low)
