  1. My Combustion 5/3 nicely highlighted at last night's gig. Very blue, but then we are a blues band....
  2. That's very pretty! I've played a few of these, and they all had a bit of a neck dive issue. What's it like on a strap?
  3. REDUCED TO £1400 For sale is a 2006 Musicman Stingray 5 in a rather fetching gloss black with gold hardware, and fitted with a Status Graphite neck. NOW SOLD.
  4. Maybe weight isn't such an important consideration if you like the Sadowsky brand. On the Thomann site it says they weigh 70g, or 81.5g including the sleeve and the screw (why would they list their weight separately?) which is still on the heavy side considering the USA Hipshot half inch post, clover head equivalent is 55g all in. Even Hipshot's licensed version is only a couple of grams heavier than their USA one. They claim their USAs are 'machined, finished and assembled' in the States, apart from the screws, which are ' sourced globally'. It doesn't say where the parts are cast, though. The licensed ones are made in South Korea. Pricewise, the Sadowskys aren't even a good deal really. They work out at £17.20 for a set of 4 including shipping, whereas at Bass Direct the Hipshots start at £16 and £28 each shipped for the licensed and USA respectively, depending on the finish (again based on a set of 4). If you're looking to save weight and money, the Hipshot licensed tuners still win hands down. https://hipshot.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360020825572-What-s-the-difference-between-Licensed-and-USA-Ultralite-tuning-machines-
  5. That's a very nice bass. Seeing as a new one (and this one is pretty much that from your description) comes in at £3K+ now, it's also a bargain. But as the previous poster pointed out, if you want it to be found in the searches, you should change the title to Musicman Stingray! 🙂 GLWTS.
  6. As all the hardware and electronics seem to have been changed, it looks like all that's 'original' is the neck and the body. The front of the headstock is an odd shade, which could mean it's been stripped to change the decal.
  7. Thanks! The push/pull volume pot for active/passive is just for bypass in the event of the battery dying. The pan pot and coil tap still work, but there's no EQ.
  8. "This listing was ended by the seller because the item was lost or broken." I expect the bridge flew off under the strain. I hope no one was injured.
  9. Black hardware on a white bass - very cool!
  10. The tuners were £129 for the set. Although the bass was already pretty well balanced, the USA Hipshots are quite a bit lighter than the licensed ones it came fitted with. The Babicz saddles were about £55 each. Not cheap, but they're rock solid, a big improvement on the old saddles.
  11. NOW SOLD For sale is my Lakland 55-94 in translucent white, made in 2006. It has a light swamp ash body, with the grain visible through the finish, and a very pretty birdseye maple fingerboard. This combination of finishes and woods would almost certainly have been a custom order. It's fitted with the original Bartolini pickups and NTMB 3-band preamp. It also comes with pearl and tort scratchplates, plus a Hiscox LiteFlite case in excellent condition.
  12. You're most kind. And you're only down the road. You're very welcome to come and have a look at it if you want - no obligation to buy! 🙂
  13. As good as my Combustion 5/3 was out of the box (bought new earlier this year) I've upgraded a few things - Super Fatty II pickups, black Hipshot USA tuners, and Babicz bridge saddles. Worthwhile improvements to an already great bass.
  14. Whaddayamean? Henry Thomas used one on Rock School on the telly in the 80's! 🙂
  15. This was the bass I lusted after as a teenager and could never afford - I still can't! 😄 I managed to snag one of the reissues they did a few years ago, but yours is in great condition and has much more mojo! GLWTS.
  16. Thanks for making the journey, Mike. Enjoy the bass!
  17. For sale is my Ibanez EHB1265 MS-NML (Multi Scale - Natural Mocha Low gloss) in case you wondered! I bought it early this year when the model first became available, and it's an excellent bass. The only reason I'm offering it for sale is I've really bonded with my new Dingwall, so as great as the Ibanez is, I've decided to move it on. The scale lengths are 35" on the B, down to 33" on the G, but the headless design makes the bass incredibly compact despite the extended scale - the gigbag it comes with is the same size as an electric guitar. Although the Bartolinis it came with were nice, I fitted a set of Aguilar DCB D4 pickups which have a bit more bite and definition, but the original pickups are also included in the sale, plus the Ibanez gigbag, Straplocks and pickup ramp (all unused) right down to the allen keys, user manual and original shipping carton. In my opinion this is the nicest finish they offer in this range, and they go for about £1150 new, so adding the Aguilars at £300, this is £1450 worth of bass for under a grand. It's only left the house a handful of times, so the condition is excellent. I've moved the end strap button, as I found the body used to sit up a little with it in the original position, but it can easily be moved back. NOW SOLD.
