Whilst I think I may be veering slightly off topic here, I'm tempted to observe that there's many a company who have been dashed on the rocks of their own success, and many a product/manufacturer that has been quietly bought up and buried by conglomerates more interested in safe guarding their own interests and own product than offering the marketplace (whatever marketplace) new, innovative and 'better' goodies. Personally I love Alex's 'not very slick, all the information you could want and then-some'-approach. A triumph of substance over a style, as far as I'm concerned, and something of a novelty to offer a product designed to appeal to customers on the basis of performance rather than aesthetic considerations.

I own a BF cab and an ACG custom bass (get me and my sophisticated tastes!). I'm genuinely bemused - when you could say they were similar types of companies in terms of their approach to their (obviously completely different) products - why the former attracts such rabidly, schizophrenically differing opinions and the latter much less so. They are both small, passionate producers of their esoteric product, who invest a huge amount of time in continually identifying and developing incremental improvements and, as such, I applaud them both. Both could say their product is the best it possibly can be right now, and it is produced with little concession or deference to their buyers' budgets - within reason. If someone else doesn't 'like' my BF cab or my ACG bass that's up to you, but, you know what, I don't like your hair or your tee shirt, because my hair and my tee shirt are better. How do you like them apples? Couldn't give sh*t? Good for you because you know what, I really don't give much of a toss that you don't care for my cab or bass either. Can we all go to sleep now?

Agree with the others - my dream gig. Sadly geography excludes me. Someone's going to love this. -
I don't know you..but a big thank you! Glad someone knows for sure that I'm not exaggerating...thanks again Mr Bass Culture.
You're welcome. Seriously, if I could get my fingers round any more than 4 strings you'd already have the money and we'd be discussing delivery details! I absolutely loved this bass. I've often thought about commissioning another LE bass but I've lost contact with Les in recent years and have not been able to get an answer on the old land line number I have for him. He's s top guy, though not the most business-minded, which ultimately probably did for him in terms of being able to make a go of it. I'd dearly love to contact him again, if you or anyone else had his details. Best of luck with your sale.

I have no affiliation with the seller but having played this when Les had it in for service a few years back I can say with confidence that this bass is simply stunning. I don't think Les is building anymore but, having owned three Les Evans basses I'd have to say that they are on a par with anything I've ever played. The build quality is superb and his eye for detail (look at the fingerboard, the partial recessing of the control knobs etc.) elevated some of his builds to works of art. I also had the same combination of EMGs and East preamp (looks like a u-retro?) on a couple of the basses Les made for me and they sounded lovely. On this occasion the claim of Fodera league build quality is not seller's hyperbole - this bass is worth every penny of the seller's asking price and I would humbly suggest it might actually represent something of a bargain. I know I sound like I'm going over the top but when I saw this is Les's workshop I must have spent about ten minutes just looking at it before it even occurred to me to play it! This will make someone a very, very happy bunny.
Keep us posted on that bag Re: quality etc, I might have a Zoom coming for Christmas and I might plump for this bag if it matches the gator equivalent
Happy to - it's ordered and on its way.
Excellent! I might just go for that one!
A fellow cheapskate - hi!!

Just come across another bag option, Thomann's own which they are packaging as part of their b9.1ut bundle: http://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_effect_pedal_bag.htm

Bag for the budget-minded (like me!): http://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_effect_pedal_bag.htm

Cheers all for the bag recommendations. Just had a 1% pay rise back dated for 3 months - that should just about cover it! Who said the public sector was being slashed!

Anyone found a bag that fits these? I've decided mine's a keeper - even though I use effects very little it's got everything I feel I'll ever need. Ever!

Kind words, Peter. Probably won't see as much of Mersea as I used when I get back now as my brother's uprooted himself and moved down to Cornwall. Still a nice place for a few pints all the same. My ACG's this one: http://www.acguitars.co.uk/Gallery/315/ Couldn't be happier with it. Probably won't be able to make it up to Moffat, I've got a load on theatre-wise and rehearsing a new band and set for my 50th in February. (I'm saying that but when is it?!) Hope all's well. Mark -

I bought one of these on the GAK deal too. I'm a complete novice when it comes to effects but I've got a couple of days off work now to get to grips with it. Wish me luck, and brace yourself for multiple 'how do you do this?' postings, ladies and gentlemen!

At the price I just couldn't resist. I haven't even got a band at the moment and I don't really use effects! Still, I'm looking forward to having some fun finding out whether it's a keeper or not.

Just bought Chilievan's (Dale's) Roland Cube 30 off him. Nice piece of kit off a nice guy - packaged within an inch of its life and sent out in short order. I'd be very happy to do business with him any time. Thanks, Dale! Mark (Bass Culture)
