  1. Now £210 Peavey MiniMAX in perfect condition, used only once live and otherwise as a backup/home practice amp. It comes in original packaging with the supplied gig bag. These were very much lauded here back in the day, and I understand that. Fantastic bang for the buck. But its just too much power for what I play, so time to let someone else use and enjoy it. MiniMAX Features: 500 Watts RMS into 4 ohms DDT™ speaker protection Pre-gain control with TransTube® gain boost 3-band EQ with Punch, Mid-shift and Bright controls Psychoacoustic low end bass enhancement Built-in direct output with ground lift and pre/post switch 1/8" aux input 1/8” phones output Chromatic tuner with speaker and DI mute Two twist-lock combo 1/4" outputs Built-in effects loop Active and Passive inputs

  12. Yes, Len, he has the ‘undertaker’ look down to a tee…
  13. I was going to say covers, but why restrict the discussion? I managed to get a song into the set of the last originals band i played with by digging out a demo from 1980 and playing it to the songwriting duo. They thought it had been done last week, snd I only told them later😂
  14. Every band has a way of introducing new material. How does your band do it? Does anyone have a veto? Can anyone suggest songs or just one/a few? What if it stretches the band’s envelope? How many songs make it to rehearsal and not the set? Have there been fallouts and fights?
  15. . Having a gear rationalisation and decided one U-bass is enough. So, up for grabs is this metal-strung Kala Journeyman. The ideal first U bass for a traditional bassist, being far more playable than the rubberised variety! Great nick, no damage but - full disclosure - there’s a small fingernail-sized gloss patch below where fretboard meets body (there when I bought it, too insignificant to see in my photo). The finish is otherwise matt. Deluxe Kala gigbag is the icing on the cake. UK postage included in price. Oh, the sling around the top of the neck at nut is where I attached the strap - will remove! Here are the all-important figures: Specification: Size: Acoustic electric uBass Top: Laminate mahogany Back and sides: Laminate mahogany Binding: Cream Finish: Satin Neck: Mahogany Nut: Plastic Saddle: Plastic Headstock: Standard String: Kala wound strings EADG Tuners: Custom black die cast Cutaway: Venetian Electronics: UK-500B Short scale: 20.875 in Overall length: 29.625 in Includes: Padded gig bag Measurements: Scale length: 20.875 inches Overall instrument length: 29.625 inches Number of frets: 16 Body length: 13.9375 inches Width at upper bout: 7.875 inches Width at lower bout: 10.5 inches Width at waist: 7.062 inches Body depth: 3.125 inches Fingerboard width at nut: 1.75 inches Fingerboard width at neck/body joint: 2.25 inches And the blurb The Kala Journeyman is the grandest u- in the new line up, made of laminate mahogany with white binding, f-holes, and a cutaway. The Journeyman is a great for gigging, has the original u-Bass tone, and it won’t break the bank. Hone your skills and perfect your craft, this u-Bass is made to take you as far as you want to go. The Journeyman will set you on your way to becoming a master. Being the first u-bass with a cutaway is handy for anybody looking to make the most of the whole fingerboard! The preamp features a built in tuner, so no need for any clip-on tuners. And with the wound strings, you have a decent acoustic volume as well as a crisper bite to the sound if you want it! You can of course dial this out with the onboard EQ so you get that lovely warm woody thumpy double bass sound if you want - but you can have a more contemporary, rocky sound as well which is impossible with polyurethane strings.
  16. Neil Young hardback Rolling Stone book £6 posted CSNY Three-hour documentary DVD £10 posted (still shrinkwrapped) Gene Clark DVD £10 posted
  17. Rationalising my stuff, so I only really need one of these. Sure you all know how useful they are as insurance against amp failure. Yours for £20, UK post included.
  18. We all know front-people see themselves as the be all and end all of the band. So my question: do you treat them differently to other band members? Are your comments and criticisms tempered by the knowledge that they are likely to be more sensitive than the average musician? Or do you treat everyone the same?
  19. Hard to find collaboration between master bassist Graham and Prince. Features Chaka Khan. Excellent condition, UK postage included. Blurb! GCS 2000 is the eighth studio album by Graham Central Station, and their first to be released by NPG Records. The album was co-produced by Prince (as ), who co-wrote one song (Utopia) and appeared on every track as a musician or vocalist (mostly uncredited). The album was released on 2 February 1999, the same day as 1999: The New Master (on which Larry Graham also appears), and was third and final album in the 'trilogy' worked on with Prince (as ) and Chaka Khan from late 1997 to mid-1998 (New Power Generation’s Newpower Soul and Chaka Khan’s Come 2 My House were the other two albums in the trilogy). The booklet contains a long note written by Prince, titled "’s dare" in which he describes with superlatives Larry Graham’s style, how "he is funk ITSELF" and dares anyone who listens to the album to "try not 2 make the 'funky face'."
  20. Rock books plus postage at cost: Byrds book (RRP£30) out of print £10 Kevin Armstrong (RRP £16.95) is an excellent musician’s autobiography. £5
