AFAIK.... if you are in the EU you *have* to charge (your local) VAT wherever in the EU it is sold - assuming the goods are liable for VAT blah blah. There are no Customs and Excise issues within the EU.
Fair enough, then the buyer would presumably also be entitled to ask for the sellers certification to qualify that they're entitled to charge sales tax?
2. He's double thumbing, and I like the sound of his voice.
3. i had a go on a SWR Bass350 and 4x8 once and with a jazz bass once and it was a killer rig. Those 4x8's are hard to come by too.
4.
I am still getting a problem, for example when I try to look at the Smith thread on the for sale forum. Many thanks for looking at this when I know you have more pressing personal issues going on ( redundancy etc )
Hey no problem. It's not like I'm run off my feet with job applications at the moment. For the four that are in, things are looking positive and I may yet still be faced with a choice! In the meantime people are taking their time to make decisions, so its just me and th' toys... OK I think I know where the problem is - spent hamsters. So I've just chucked in a new pair of 18v upgrades and inserted a fresh set of rubber bands. So if you have any other problems let me know. (Seriously though, I've made a tweak. So let me know if you do have problems )
5. I'm no expert but my understanding is that a non-UK resident can't charge a UK citizen VAT unless they're VAT registered in the UK. Otherwise you will have to send the bass without VAT and VAT will charged to the recipient by Customs and Excise at the point of entry into the UK. (Someone please feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken BTW.) So I'd imagine you might be knocking 18% off the price?
6. I was quite excited about this until I saw the video. I think its soulless compared to the gospel I like listening to. Where's the love?
7. Please note IP addresses might change if your ISP using a dynamic IP assignment. Basically that means your ISP assigns you a new IP from a range that are available at the time you sign in. However your ISP will also keep a log of where each ISP has been assigned so that in the event of something illegal happening, its possible for the ISP to tell the law enforcement authorities who was using what ISP given a time and date of posting. However while I can see the IP of all posters on this forum, I have no way of telling whether the IP you're posting in this forum is the same as the one you've been assigned while encountering problems if you've logged off your internet connection inbetween. If you want to find out your IP then there are websites that will ping your connection and tell you. http://www.palserv.com/ipdisp.html http://www.ip-adress.com/ Use one of these sites next time you have a problem and I will do a bit of jabbing about in the back with a screwdriver and a 2"x4".
8.
Surely you would know that you were about to run over something that size and stop? Apparently not.
I'd imagine the same question could have been asked of Brian Harvey too? Blame the potatoes!
9. The lines of the scratch plate are a bit weak in relation to the pickups but apart from that, its a very distinctive looking bass. I think some sound clips would be very interesting when you finally recieve it!
10. Every time one of you encounters this problem would you mind letting me know what the IP address your were assigned by your ISP is? I might be able to sort something out behind the scenes.
11. Mick "The Bomber" Stradivarius, Whitechapel, 1968.
12. g'warrrn my son...
13.
Thanks everyone for your advice. I’ve been playing for years with just my bass, a lead and battered old Trace Elliot and been blissfully unaware of this technology. The Bassbone and Microbass look really nice bits of kit but a bit too expensive to be honest. I suspect the Boss LS2 is the kind of thing I need but you’ve all given me plenty of ideas. I was even unaware of the Neutrik silent plug which seems a great idea - so it shows how out of touch I’ve become!
Perhaps keep an eye out on Ebay for a Boss LS-1 line switcher? Or rack mixers can be snagged for very reasonable money too depending on whether you need an effects loop or not.
14. Bassjamm used to own one, I think he might have sold it on however...
15. I've used 1) two channel amp 2) Y connector with two wireless units 3) EBS Microbass II 4) Rack mixer The rack mixer is probably best if you have basses that have different output levels and no other way to control input gain.
16. Nothing yet, it all depends on how often they check their email. I'm sure he's got better things to do...unlike myself.
17.
It's a great idea. But might there not be some bandwidth issues if he's as popular as it seems?
Phatmonkey owns the server, not BC but I'm pretty sure there's some spare capacity. How much though, I couldn't say. I've dropped Thomas an email and we'll see what he thinks.
18. I think it has been posted elsewhere. We have a fair bit of spare space on the BC server so it might be worth Phatmonkey dropping him a line and seeing what the score is.
19. Would anyone like to do a potted history of Trace for the wiki?
20. FWIW there's quite a bit of information on Wiki. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trace_Elliot EDIT: er... ...well at least there used to be a lot of information... ...still, there's always Talkbass.
21. what a great toy!
22. I haven't owned one myself, but I've been told the bass with the Villex system is the one to go for rather than the Bart loaded models. Yes they can have more attack and more prominent midrange but the softness of the body wood is key.
23.
I Have to say a very reluctant sale, due to lack of work.
Oh I feel your pain on that front, believe me.
24. the best fretless on the market IMO. hope it sells EDIT: and the wood grain on that one is particularly gorgeous.
