1. Its a mexican standard Fender Jazz though, am I missing something?
2.
Business has been sold. Going back to being a nurse for someone else!! I think I'll live longer that way!
Which city are you planning to live in? Melbourne would be my pick, mainly for the culture and beaches.
3. so are you selling up the bizniz or is that now self running?
4.
I'd use the Bridge HB wiring for both pickups TBH - the diagram you've posted at the top seems to be the easiest wiring to follow:
I was trying to use the diagram at the top but because I didn't understand how the switch made its connections it was impossible to figure out how to rewire the connections for parallel instead of series in one position. Thanks again!
5. I've replaced the Barts in my Pentabuzz with Alembic Activators because I wanted to hear more mids. But I may yet change them again to custom Wizards at some point in the future for extra warmth.
6. Thanks for that Ian! Which of those connections are north-start, north-finish, south-start, south-finish? Bridge HB toggle 5 = south-finish 2 = north-start earthed = south start and north finish? Neck HB toggle 5 = south-start 2 = north-finish earthed = south finish and north start?
7.
Blimey, how many fences did he own?
he started off with exotic wood and then went to graphite composite?
8. BUMP - anyone?
9. Truly amazing. What amazing technical facility, what a talent. He plays each of those instruments to an incredible level of proficiency. I hate him. (Just kidding, I'm in awe really)
10. Is there any way to wire a pair of ON/ON/ON 3TDP switches and humbuckers so I can select inside coils, outside coils and have both coils in each pickup running in parallel? If it uses a DPDT switch instead of one 3TDP then so much the better. I've spend most of today trying to get my head around it and failed. Mainly because I can't work out how the 3TDP switch makes its connections. Basically I'm hoping its possible to take this option: and change the humbucker wiring shown to parallel instead somehow. There has to be more than one way to do it though, I have potentially two switches to play with. Not that fussed about series mode to be honest. Doesn't do a lot compared to parallel and the voltage difference is irritating.
11. Doesn't matter to me. I've learned to play on both because I wouldn't want to limit my ability to use the right tools for the job. Nothing wrong with lined boards at all either.
12. I use it with a Burman guitar combo for guitar and, ok its not going to sound exactly the same as a Rivera-era Fender Super Champ but the tone is close enough for some funky Nile Rodgers type stuff. Most of the distortions are nice and crisp although the Joe Satriani patch is a bit flaccid. However the hiss is easy to deal with using the noise gates and I agree the bass sounds are crap but the amp sim isn't really necessary anyway. I've got my own patch which is amp and cabinet free and by using the optical compressor and the parametric eq to boost 30Hz and 4Khz the bass sounds fantastic. I just wish the parametric eq had more than two bands but in some ways its not important. I can put two parametrics in if I need 4 bands of boost. Plus because there are virtually no limits on processing power, the sky is virtually the limit. I could set up an Akai unibass patch and then run the shifted signal through its own chain of delays.

Hi All

Welcome aboard!
I wonder if this is the bass,
Check out the drummer's miming! He's trying really hard to not actually hit anything and hiding the strain really well.
15. I have two lightweight and sensitive cabs that I can use with a range of heads. Or I can use one cab by itself if I need a smaller rig. For practice I have my laptop, USB guitarlink, Guitar Rig 3, USB foot controller and some earphones. My experience with Guitar Rig software has bordered on the verge of an epiphany so I'm now thinking about taking those wedge speaker plans I had a few months back and turning them into a pair of active wedge cabs. Then all I'd need to do is show up to a gig with the laptop, footcontroller, USB link and a wedge. Bass amp be damned!

Hello world...

Welcome aboard
17. "as it has been looked after and is in superb condition" I thought he said Mark King had played it?

The attention to grain orientation on that bass is really nice. Love the wear too.
19. Has he still got EMGs loaded in it?
20. It's a shame you feel you need to sell this one, Dave.
21.
Could be Nathan East. He played uncredited on some 70s Barry White albums
I can ask him, or anyone who is going to Bassday could probably do the same.
22.
Hey folks, Does anyone sync their effects to a midi clock so they can be in time with the rest of the band?
Assuming that you get it working all OK, unless your band can play to a sequencer there's bound to be some slight speeding up or slowing down in tempo (particularly going into the chorus). MIDI synching will make those differences more obvious. Might be better at using a tap tempo button if you have that function in any of your effects? If you hear the tempo is out then give the tap tempo a couple of presses with your foot in time to the tempo and it'll be sorted. The Adrenalinn is a nice bit of kit but for the same money you could have Guitar Rig 3 or 4 on your laptop live including a USB foot controller with a tap tempo function and a whole bunch of effects. I've just installed it and its completely rocked my world. You can do many of the Adrenalinn beat based effects with it as well.
23. Good looking bunch like you shouldn't feel shy in coming forward.
24. Just wanted to put a word in for this bit of software. Basically even if you have a Behringer Guitar Link or one of the cheap ripoffs from Hong Kong, it will allow you to turn your laptop into a high powered and super versatile effects unit. Not only that but if you have a clean and comfy set of earphones, you can play along to your MP3 tracks and the amp modelling and eq options will allow you studio quality sound. The bass amp options are very limited (basically an Ampeg clone) but there are loads of screamy, grindy, tappy, wowy, zorky, echoey types of things and...at last...the kind of intuitively easy, logical, graphical user interface that multi effects units have been crying out for since the 80's. I wasn't that impressed with the Ampeg sim, but the Fender Tweed and Bassman type sims were OK with guitar. I found bass was best with no amp sim but using a compressor and the parametric eq yields extremely nice sounding results. Being able to boost down as low as 30Hz delivered really satisfying B string sounds. So this bit of kit has been soley responsible for me getting back into practicing every night and it sounds amazing. My ears never get tired and there's plenty to muck about with in terms of modifiers and such if I get bored. Plus the Kontrol USB foot controller means all I technically would need to do is take the laptop, controller, and a pair of IEMs to a gig. Crazy! I think I've seen the future
