  1. I fancy a short scale. Interested in these and the Gretsch Junior Jets.
  2. Squier Tele, Aerodyne Strat, Gretsch and a Danelectro.
  3. There's a lot of choices out there apart from the usual Fender Precision and Jazz types. I'd also consider the Gretsch Junior Jet basses for a well made and easy to handle guitar. A lot of bang for your buck with them.
  4. If you want to learn to read you'll need to learn Bass clef which is different to Treble clef as used by flute and violin. I found learning the modes of the major scales helpful but, like all scales, it's only useful if you learn what chords they apply to and how chord progressions work. Good luck and have fun.
  5. Don't get no funkier than this IMHO. The riff that David Dyson plays at around 3.40 is something I've shamelessly nicked and shoehorned into anything requiring some funk.
  6. I'm incapable of following the recipe but don't get any complaints with what I dish up as long as it's greasy spoon. Anyone who thinks the ingredients are wrong can eff off and pay £75 for a 2oz. steak with a green bean balanced on it.
  7. Love this bass line by Anthony Jackson. Also like this bloke's covers which are very accurate and easy to hear.
  8. Always loved Willie Weeks sound on all of this album;
  9. Glorious amp. I use a Weber Mywatt 200 which is a copy of this Hiwatt. Mine has KT88 tubes which I think sound gorgeous, particulary when the bright and dark inputs are linked. All very subjective though and I'm sure the EL34s sound great too. GLWTS.
  10. I'm not like other harmonica players and I won't play all over everything for the entire gig.
  11. I found learning about the modes very useful at this stage. It shows how a different chord fits over each individual note in the major scale.
  12. I stand corrected. What do you think my favorite colour should be?😉
  13. Anything by Mick Karn playing a Wal.
  14. Always loved Lee Sklar. Unfortunately, the stuff he did with Phil Collins is about the bottom of the barrel of his superb career for me.
  15. Have been going through my Youtube faavorites and this popped up. Absolutely love it. Seriously underrated band and Ian Thornley is not only a great guitarist but also has a fabulous voice IMO.
  16. When they mimed Maggie May on Top of the Pops, they didn't bother getting the mandolin player to come to the shoot, but instead got John Peel to pretend he was playing the thing.
  17. He wanted to re-record it but Bowie wouldn't let him.
  18. One of the greats. Sad day.
  19. Can't be bothered with the turgid rubbish I'm supposed to be learning for the band, so for now I'm amusing myself noodling around with Dune Tune.
  20. If you look straight at the pickups and ignore all the other stuff going on, it looks like a snap shot of an endoscopy.
