  1. I'd be all for it but there are too many hurdles for me. First and foremost, I've financed all of our PA since all the others are classic impoverished musicians who spend the vast majority of their time drinking beer and moaning about how skint they are. I'm also skint, but not because I spend all of my time drinking beer. The chances of any of them stumping up a fiver towards any changes are less than nil. Secondly, the gig situation has gone downhill rapidly since Covid and I don't particularly fancy too much exposure in crowded spaces. Thirdly, I think my gigging days are probably numbered now through age, enthusiasm and all of the above.
  2. Maybe, somewhere in a parallel universe, this is a viable option.
  3. Lucky Man - Greg Lake (ELP)
  4. Bootylicious - Destiny's Child
  5. On the Road Again - Canned Heat
  6. Leith Sthtick Together - Roxy Music
  7. Fanfare for the Common Man - Emerson Lake and Palmer
  8. Darkness on the Edge of Town - Bruce Springclean
  9. Paul Denman certainly influenced me with his playing for Sade. I got a Stingray which I'll never sell because I loved the sounds he got out of his. I also really liked his 'less is more' approach to slap rather than the popular trend to smother whole tracks and even albums with it. He somehow managed to play in an understated way that would really grab your attention.
  10. Probably been mentioned before but no harm in mentioning again, Bob Babbitt. So often overlooked with James Jamerson hogging the limelight, but BB came up with some fabulous bass lines like Mercy, Mercy Me for Marvin Gaye.

  15. (Can you see) The Real Me - The Who
  16. Vogue - Madonna
  17. Keep on Truckin' - Eddie Kendricks
  18. Cod Only Knows - The Beach Boys
  19. Riders of the Storm - The Bores
  20. Just Like Heaven - The Cure
  21. Blue Hat for a Blue Day - Nick Heywood
  22. Firestarter - The Prodigy
  23. Turn to Stone - Joe Walsh
  24. A bit out of left field this one but a bassline that really caught my attention back in 1976. Later found out it was Chuck Rainey so no wonder it's a groove monster. Takes a while to build up but then really hits the sweet spot. Cracking album by the way.
  25. Little Red Corvette - Squiggle (formerly known as Prince)
