3. well, what I usually say. again.
4. this is a very interesting question. my musical education was mostly teaching myself by playing to records and tapes. I always improvised and jammed with other musicians, tried to make originals and am and have never been so much interested in reproducing stuff other people had written. therefore my theoretical knowledge is a bit limited, but my ears are trained well. I still listen a lot to music of different styles and also still love to improvise with other good musicians most. Usually I try not to think too much whenever I try to write something new or improvise, so I'd say I let the music play me. I try to be in the music while I play and try to do it the way jaco did: watch and listen to yourself in context to the others and the music. and I'm still happy trying it.
5. thanks to all for the hints and kudos.
6. thanks, I know. but my tech said if I don't push the amp I should be safe until I can afford it.
7. well, our rehearsal room is a studio and the band volume depends on the drummer. I hate loud rehearsals anyway. But: the ampeg cab has a very low efficiency at 93 dB, so both volume knobs are on 4-5. since the amp is old and sooner or later will need new caps, I still can run it without blowing it up. but even at this moderate volume the tube tone is definately audible and sensible.
8. ...and it is a blast! tried it the first time with my ampeg portabass 212h cab... ...I love it. clear, warm, mighty, dynamic, a pure bath in sound. here 2 rough recordings with my roland r-05 of my 3rd rehearsal with a keyboardist and a drummer. I played the seibass directly into the amp, enjoy!

11. who's playing it? king kong, godzilla or the hulk?
12. I truly can't decide between my 4 or 5 string custom jazz or my starfire. but who of you guys has sold "the one" since your statement here?
13. never liked the p and probably never will. there might be a fender I could really like, but it probably never will come close to my custom jazzes and my starfire. well, but each according to his taste...
14. I swap between 4- & 5- strings and have no problem with it. also I use D-tuers on my 4-strings. I love to use the lower notes on a 5-string.

16.
I think it's a case of the UK's arcahic Banking system! As I stated I can send from Finland to any EU countries bank by IBAN at a cost to myself of €1. The reciever should have nothing to pay and that would include conversion from Euros to Pounds. There maybe an upperlimit on the sending amount, but I have transfered upwards of €1500 and had no problems.
+1
17. I'm with you for hollow bodies. I love my 1965 Guild Starfire: ...and my guild nightingale.
