1. I'd agree Chris - it just all smells completely wrong. A late 60's Vox AXC30 starting at £0.01? WTF? Be VERY wary...
 2.
Hello chaps Yes these are the things with all the knobs or in the case of the kawai, sliders. Neither has an arppegiator, but the Kawai has CV input so with a midi converter you can fire it off a sequencer. Hold Tight as I'll put some posts on you tube of me playing some sounds. The Kawai especially can create some truly amazing wooshes etc. Every time I play them I want to keep them, but I have no musical outlet for them anymore: Due to my hearing damage I wil never eturn to amplified music.
I like your improv music (jazz?) - I have no knowledge of that kind of Jazz at all, but it reminds me of 'Spirit Of Eden' & 'Laughing Stock' by Talk Talk - which are some of my favourite LPs... Cool.
 3.
....Else the most musical filter I've used is the Mojo Hand (Previously Tone Factor) 442 (with Bass Mod) on it's own it doesn't sound that impressive but in a band mix it really shines which is like the opposite of the Q-tron.
Do you know of any samples of this played with a bass posted online? The ones on tonefactor.com are all with a geetar... Thanks!
 4.
Enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIHrdLwa_y8...ted&search=
Love it! But I think this period - when he was playing with James Brown is even better (wasn't he still only 17 or 18 at the time?). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzMdklbWDGw Whacking it out with that early 70's Jazz bass. Fabulous! And this one in '71 has James calling Bootsy out for a solo (about 3 mins in). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPyaF7_iUTA Off-the-scale!
 5. Offers or Trades welcome!
 6.
Probably a cheap starting price for a genuine 61, unmolested original Fender... actually it doesn't say that does it, it says 'all original components and no evidence of desoldering'! I'm aware that at times Fender took a finished bass (ie already one colour) and over-sprayed another colour to suit shipping orders, is that was this guy means by 'white over sunburst' or is it a sly way of saying refinished? You can see some of the colour by the string mute screws and bell plate but the paintwork seems in remarkably good nick for something that left the factory that colour 46 years ago... isn't it! If it is original then a collected will have it away in a vault in no time. Good luck to the guy, it has the 'potential' to be a mortgage clearer for someone!
Yes - he's saying its OW over-sprayed on top of sunburst - this was VERY common with Fender custom colour guitars... And one of the reasons why I personally find them less desirable than sunburst as the extra layer of paint is not good for the tone. The blonde ash Jazzes are the ultimate - very thin finish with a fantastic look as well. But you're absolutely right - as an investment piece this would certainly be a good buy for someone. God only knows what a guitar like this would be worth in another 10 or 20 years...
 7.
You own a coulpe of older ones, is that a reasonable start price? It just seems a lot of money! It is however very pretty and looks pretty gen!
I've been offered an ex-Entwistle 1960 Jazz for £15.5K recently - & that is probably one of the most desirable vintage basses there is. Certainly THE ultimate Jazz bass. So that price for a '61 (without stack knobs - & so less desirable) is pretty close to its very top price.
 8.
Jeez, thats lovely...... why did you get rid of it?
Back in 1987 I bought a Wal Custom MkI (still got her 20 years later) - I had to sell the G&L and a really nice Aria to fund it... Once I tried a Wal everything else was just surplus to requirements....then I was quite happy for about 15 years until I discovered vintage Fenders!

 10. Very smooth deal for a 2U flight case - exactly as described. Great comms - very speedy delivery. A true gent! Highly recommended.
 11.
Bootsy has been through at least 4 stages of tone. You'll have to be more specific. The Houseguests tone was my favourite of course.
Houseguests tone! Mmmm... now you're talking! Any info on that magical funky tone - & where I can get a Houseguests CD (did they ever do an LP?) - much appreciated!
 12.
It's deffo an early G&L L-1000 Hamster edit to add piccy
Ahhhh.... That brings back some memories - I used to have one just like that (with rosewood fingerboard) - sold it sometime in the 80's... It was a great little bass.
 13. She might get somewhere if she stopped all that tiddly widdly bass solo jazz rubbish w**k and started playing proper music like Suzi Quatro - The Goddess of Rock! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXok94y3nLg And even better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SXWgC0SLCA And then just totally brilliant: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mwos1Dxc_iI
 14.
I'm considering making a few cosmetic adjustments to my lovely Fender Geddy Lee Jazz bass. Does anyone know whether the typical Jazz bass 'ashtray' bridge covers (with F logo) will fit over the Badass II bridge... or is the Badass II too wide/set back too far? Any help would be appreciated and would save me buying one only to find it doesn't fit!
I had a 70's Jazz with a Badass bridge & the ashtray cover didn't fit as the Badass was set too far back/was too long... So I would think that you would have much the same problem with a Geddy Lee model. So I wouldn't buy an ashtray as I think you'd be disappointed...
 15.
Like I said Univox, Monacor and Coron if you find my thread on the Monacor Effectomatic you can see what it looks like and all 3 look the same. The Q-tron regardless of what people say is not a Mutron clone, it's not even close and IMHO (Humble yeah right) it's crap, it has a huge volume jump, the sweeps are generally to big to make it useable in a band situation. But bare in mind bootsy use to use a couple of mutrons on different parts of his signal like splitting it and have a Mutron on eqach side of the chain but one should get close enough. Else the most musical filter I've used is the Mojo Hand (Previously Tone Factor) 442 (with Bass Mod) on it's own it doesn't sound that impressive but in a band mix it really shines which is like the opposite of the Q-tron.
Many thanks for 'the knowledge' - much appreciated!
 16. I got a Furman for £50 (£200 retail) off eBay recently - they do come up quite often...
 17.
Vintage Mutron III not the new one. Else a Vintage Mutron clone which is not the EHX Q-tron. Look for Univox, Coron or Monacor on Ebay
Many thanks tayste_2000 - nice one. Are there any particular models for the Multron clones that I should look out for...? And why not the EHX Q-tron???
 18. Big Fat funky Bootsy sound - any recommendations for the best pedal for that funk thing? Thanks!
