  1. Hi Marino I'm near Dunmow/Stansted/Saffron Walden area - I'll send you a pm bw martin
  2. Romanian Reghin 3/4 double bass £1000 £950....small price dropette Solid wood flat backed 3/4 sized double bass which I believe was made sometime in the 60’s. Marked with yellow label Musikinstrumentenfabrik Reghin Romania. Solid wood front back and sides (ie not ply I am informed) with ebony fingerboard and tail piece. It has a good quality adjustable bridge and endpin from Martyn Bailey who set up the bass. The bass is in good shape for its age - no cracks, splits or earlier repairs - just the usual surface scratches/dings. It’s a really solidly built instrument that is ready to play now . It was my first carved bass and its done a great job in a big band setting and in smaller groups. Currently strung with newish D’addario Zyex and works ok for pizz and with bow. Note pickup not included. There is a case but tbh its pretty minimalist and will include a double bass stand I’m based North Essex/Cambridge way if you want to try it out. ...as for trades...well Im interested in trying a cello
  3. OK some picks of head neck which are in good nick . .I got David Merrin (he makes guitars in Bedfordshire ) to give it a good sort out a few years back including french polishing the top. Hardly played it since then though.
  4. Hi sorry just seen this. Bit tied up today will post something tomorrow.
  5. thx - yes I thought that too . But it has a cedar top and the maker said he intended to be a classical - but the cypress makes it brighter. I think somewhere there is a matching requinto. Either way my flamenco is rubbish so I've used it for usual classical stuff
  6. James Baker Classical Guitar – Made in England (well Hackney to be precise) £600. now £500 Handmade classical guitar which I’ve had from new (about 25+ years ago) made by a chap called James Baker – he didn’t make a lot of guitars but there are a few around and he a had a good reputation amongst English makers. I think he has subsequently moved to Ireland. I seem to remember him saying this was one of his graduation pieces – its got some nice little decorative touches. It has an unusual combination of woods – cedar top and cypress back and sides – more like a flamenco. Its very light and produces clear bright tone and is pretty loud.. The nut width is a smidge narrower than many so would suite somebody with smaller hands – though I’ve played it ok with my fat fingers for many years. There a some scratches and marks on the top but these are purely cosmetic. Structure is fine and its never given me a problem. I don’t want to courier but your welcome to try in North Essex or I can bring into central London or meet up somewhere convenient.
  7. Fender CB100CE Acoustic Bass and case £180 Price drop £140 £120 Good quality acoustic bass….I’ve strung it with TI Flats – which sound great – but not at all twangy. I used in a local musical and it sounded great. Its got a nice fishman preamp and tuner and includes a TGI gig bag. I don’t want to post/courier so pick up from North Essex or meet up in Central London or drive a bit. Happy to explore ways to meet up elsewhere Body Material - Laminated Spruce Top with Laminated Mahogany Back and Sides Scale Length - 34" (864 mm) Fingerboard Radius - 12" (305 mm) Number of Frets - 22 String Nut - Graph Tech NuBone Nut Width - 1.69" (43 mm) Special Electronics - Fishman Isys III System with Active Onboard Preamp and Tuner Bridge - Rosewood with Compensated Graph Tech Nubone Saddle
  8. Zoot Custom 5 string bass £750 now....£650 Selling my excellent Zoot bass - made just down teh road from me in Essex. This has been through Basschat before and seem it was built around 2010. It was straight black and maple when I got it but I wanted something a bit more disco so I got the wonderful Mike Walsh (Mr Iceni Zoot himself) to fit a mirror scratchplate and sliver knobs. I’m not playing much disco now and need to fund a new double bass. Its a great bass easy to play and fitted with two EMG soapbars (I think these are EMG 40P5 an EMG 40DC) and an EMG BQT 3 band eq.- its really powerful and versatile sounding bass. Other facts 34” scale 45mm nut 17.5mm spacing Weight approx 4.5 kg (10 lbs) Comes with a Warwick gig bag (that has nasty tear but is still usable). Condition is ok – but it has got one chip in paint near jack socket (see pic) Pick up from North Essex or central London. Happy to arrange options for a meetup.
  9. That stand looks interesting - I also suffer from a wobbly Wav. Is it just a pearl cymbal stand? - did you have to adapt to to fit the NS adaptor thingy? GLWTS
  10. Hi.... bit of a long shot but is this still for sale bw Martin (haruki)
  11. Eden WT405 Time Traveller Includes Eden bag + rack ears. (£250) This is great amp. It can go down to two ohms, with a simpler eq section than the other Eden WT series and a nice onboard compressor. Its in good condition I'd prefer not to send but rather meet up or pick up - I'm based N Essex and can be flexible about meeting up. The amp is in great condition but one tiny issue is that the little light on the bass/treble boost button doesn't work - though the boost function works fine Power 8 ohm/4 ohm/2 ohm: 250/405/620W RMS Distortion: <.05% Frequency response: 10Hz - 15KHz +/-2dB Headroom: 3db Dimensions: 13 in. 12. Headway Band pickup system . £80 incl postage in UK Produces a great sound. Seems much more natural a sound than other piezo pickups iv'e tried. I've added some new velcro as it was getting a bit worn. Works fine though. Blurb from headway..https://www.headwaymusicaudio.com/product/the-band-double-bass/ "The Band is an instant-fit pick-up which Velcro’s to itself around the the body of the instrument. It requires no alteration of the instrument itself and generates a strong passive (no batteries required) signal which can usually be plugged straight into a mixing desk or combo amp. The multiple pick-up elements of the Double Bass version of The Band are tuned specifically for Double Bass and deliver a lively, tailored passive signal. The Band is used equally in folk/rock and classical situations and is a favourite with sound engineers and players alike, as it offers far greater volume levels before feedback, compared to mics. You can avoid being tied down to mic stands and The Band cuts feedback, bowing noise, body noise and excessive treble by acoustic filter"
  13. This is a Gen 1 Barefaced Compact Cab. The original compact with single 15” speaker and one speakon. Fantastic cab – super lightweight and loud. I’ve had this from new and it has been lightly gigged. Overall in good condition. The handle is fine. Includes usual roqsolid cover. Local pickup from N Essex – happy to drive a bit to meet up if it helps. Interested in trades for smaller full range cabs +/- cash or lightweight combos Information from barefaced Size 25.5" high x 19.5" wide x 13.5" deep 64cm x 48cm x 34cm WEIGHT 27 lbs / 12kg BROADBAND SENSITIVITY 100dB - similar to a good 2x12" USABLE FREQUENCY RANGE 37Hz - 4kHz - like a good 10" cab with the tweeter turned off RECOMMENDED AMP POWER 150 - 600W RMS MAX CONTINUOUS BROADBAND SPL 127dB - similar to a high quality 2x12" or 3x10" cab NOMINAL IMPEDANCE 8 ohms
  14. SOLD ¾ size plywood/laminate double bass. Great as a first double bass. No label or indication of where it was made but I'm guessing its of East European descent. I don’t think its one of the more recent Chinese made basses as its got a lovely chestnutty colour. It also got its fair share of dings and scrapes. Structurally sound and very easy to play – it was set up by Martyn Bailey (see http://www.mjbl.co.uk/ ) including adding an adjustable bridge and sorting the finger board. It has served me well over past year as my first double bass. New Price £450. Or trade for compact lightweight combo...or maybe cab Includes Spirocore Weich strings -only about a year old. Tom and Will gigbag with broken main zip I’m afraid – I think its fixable J tone pickup – easy to remove from bridge if you don’t want it. Bow Pickup or try out in North Essex – near Stansted/Cambridge. I can drive a bit to a meet up if it helps.
  15. Bought a cab of Jamie - excellent cab at a bargain price. He was selling at what he got it for - an admirable basschat trait. Very straightforward transaction - many thanks.
  16. SOLD Yahama active speaker in excellent condition - only about 6 months old and including bag/case (well its a cajon bag but fits very nicely). Pickup from N Essex - willing to drive a to meet up if it helps . 17. I use a simple 2 into 1 switch -pretty cheap solution Works fine for me but I have to use the bass guitars volume control (more than normal )to mute it and to balance volume levels out.
  18. +1 for bass bar....i use one and it makes switching from BG to DB much easier.
  19. I've got one of these and i love it.....great cab. Also surprisingly easy to move around on castors and pretty light for a 4x10..
  20. ++++ to that Yes it was something different for me...and great to play with another bassist....who could helpfully point our where we up to when I got lost. Quite a lot pf root fifth going on though....
