1.
It's our first gig with our new drummer - Jeff Rich - ex Climax Blues Band and Status Quo. Newark Blues Festival, Crown and Mitre, Friday 11th September.
I did a gig with Jeff years ago at an outside wedding reception in Hawkhurst. Really nice fella and good tight drummer! If he remembers the gig give him my bestest :-) Nick.
2.
Did your Mum buy it for you? Mine bought me a guitar one. It's in the loft.
Lol . No it was a boot fair bargain 2 or 3 years ago
3. Arghhhhhhhhh I missed the last one , and this one's on the week before my baby's due. Looks like it'll be a great turn out too!
4. Trip to the tip on Saturday for me then lol
5. Stands 1260mm tall and holds 48 cd's. Lovely item but a little but unsteady on its feet with kids hurtling round :-) Pick up only from Eastbourne area :-)
6.
At this level of instrument there's no better IMO. Celinder's are great basses as are Sadowsksy's etc. All I know is I would not swap the Alleva I have for any other bass. Check out talkbass - there are a lot of serious gearheads who now swear by ACs Steve
So is that it Steve? You've found "the one" ?
7.
The logic in my thinking went like this: I’ve bought and sold a lot of basses over the last year or two and generally had five at any given time. I decided to think through what I really wanted and that was essentially a very well, made high end jazz, probably a five and with a vintage type tone and perhaps the extra versatility of a gentle pre. I considered and tried a number basses though felt a Coppolo might well fit the bill if only I could get to try one. When the Bass Merchant brought two back from NAMM I though now’s my chance to try one out. I just missed the boat as the jazz (now Birdy's) went to Bass guitar Magazine for review and they kept it there for 8 weeks!. When It came back and I got to play it, I decided a Coppolo was the one for me. So there you have it, I'm gonna run my Coppolo and one other bass. Two basses is plenty for me and in selling off other basses I will actually have less money tied up in gear, regardless of how expensive my current squeeze is
Has it arrived yet?
8. I keep finding myself being drawn back to this thread for another look. They're all amazing !! Time to thin down my herd maybe?
9. I've got that concert on DVD. Nate rules!!
10. My goodness. I didnt know him really, but he seemed a really cool level headed and knowledgeable fella. RIP , and my condolences to his family and friends. Nick.
11.
jesus christ feel like you lot are giving me a right bollocking s`pose i`ll give it a go though
My advice would be just to try it . If it's not comfy then don't over do it. Find the most comfortable way you can to play bass and then if you're a lucky soldier, your hand wont be crippled up with arthritis in 30 years :-)
12. Sounds like a painful procedure LOL
13.
Fretting or plucking hand?
Fretting hand. He's understandably very upset about it.
14.
That has to be my worst nightmare, losing any parts of my fingers would be devastating. Does he play an instrument?
Yep he plays 6 skinny strings. I'm sure he'll be able to conditon himself to the length of the new finger, but it'll take some years I reckon.
15. I hope my brother doesnt read this thread. He lifted up the edge of a lawn mower the other day and took the top off his middle finger. He's having it officially taken back to the knuckle this afternoon because the bone wasn't knitting back together.
16.
Hi Nik I was going to do the same for a player I saw at a wedding last night The band were Between the Covers and the bassplayer had a lovely GB Spitfire 5 and EBS TD650 / 210. (They were from Brighton of course)! Great tone and playing. I did get a chance to say hello and tell them I thought they sounded great. The bass player said he had been on here but not for some time.
I've got a feeling thats Dan Humphries. Hes's a member here, but not a very regular one I dont think. Top bassist too.Seen him once or twice.
17. The man's got a heart the size of a house. For my wedding last year he contacted a custom greetings card maker and gave them a personal message for them to send in a card to me. Was a massive surprise to say the least! Nick.
18. I met Colin a few months ago at a gig we were both playing at . Bloody nice fella and an awesome bassist still
19. Thats a lovely bright sunburst!! Nice new aquisition :-)
20. Just out of interest... do you know the difference between these blue labels, and the black label bright nickels?
21. If my gear wasn't better than me, I'd be restricting myself lol
22.
Nice bass! And a tasteful "restoration" to boot. In twenty years' time, I fully expect it to be lime green with gold hardware.. Or perhaps not!
Or the gold hardware will be lime green lol
23. What about the L2500 that w3as for sale the other day. Leaves musicmen in the dust !!
