1. Andy and Hugh were based In Crowborough , East Sussex when I was growing up and starting to play. I used to dream about having them build me a custom bass. Awesome instruments and fantastic people.
2. I have a double chin, but don't really want to post a photo of it
3. I used to have this problem with a trace elliot combo ..... I used to regularly use what's commonly known as percussive maintenance ... failing that I'd probably stick your amp in for a service with an amp tech ... probably cost you about £60
4.
Hi, Can an Audere JZ3 pre-amp be retro fitted to a DJ4 or does it need to be modified like the j-retro? Dave
I cant tell you about the dj4 cavity, but the audere needs 1.2" deep 1.1" wide, and 4.8" long ... sorry for imperial but I just got the dimensions off the paperwork that came with mine. Nick.
5. TI jazz flats are lovely .. but I certainly wouldn't describe them as dark or dead sounding ..... In fact I've spent 25 trying to avoid strings that sound dark and dead lol
6. Thanks very much Russ ... sounds absolutely spot on !! I see what you mean about the low z mode...earthquake :-)
7. And another +1 for roqsolid ... although there website infected my computer with about 6 bloody viruses. There ebayshop was fine and the covers are great.
8.
Too fat for me!
Fattist !! lol
9. Oh that's a beauty !! My second favourite finish and they've gotta be the best bang for buck on the market.... great deal
10. If the ASAT is the sound you're after , but it's not comfy, try out an L2000 :-)
11.
Great hat! Bass players should always wear hats where possible.
I disagree .. makes the brain overheat :-)
12. I've never turned down a gig to stay at home and scour ebay and for sale sections.... therefore , no I don't chase gear too much
13. It came to light the other day at the South East bass bash, that the jack socket on my L2500 is faulty... probably due to me using Planet Waves leads that have a slightly oversized plug for good contact. Anyway , can anyone recommend me a decent replacement jack socket that will last some years? Cheers, Nick
14. Do shortarses have shortarms too? I admit I'm not vertically challenged nowadays , but I didn't have too much problem playing a full scale bass when I was 11. I wasn't a tall 11 y/o either. In fact , my other half is 5' 4" and I reckon she could play any of my basses. Have you tried different strap heights and hand positions etc?
15. A mid seventies strat worth £2000? He's a bassist and it's his pride and joy? Someone's pulling someones leg here I think lol
16. A good time was had by all !! Some lovely basses to noodle on, and a thoroughly nice bunch of blokes .... smelled a bit ,but that mighta been the room. lol Highlight for me was probably that cute little cutlass of CK's ..... I've just got that sound stuck in my head now . Looking forward to the next one. Many thanks Dave!! Nick.
17. You'll have to excuse me ladies and gents , but I've forgotten to clean my basses ....If I start on them now I'll probably not wake up in time to go tomorrow lol
18.
Afraid I'm not goona be able to make it - real shame.
Agreed , that's really a shame . I think you're the closest thing I have to a neighbour on this forum lol
19.
Why not buy Russ's Audere pre (which is for sale further down) AND these? You could have both for a few quid more than a J-retro. Haggling is a good point too (haggle with Russ first)
The thing that puts me off the Audere is that it sounds too much like " Oh Dear" lol
20.
Almost, I found a '66 jazz in a skip!!! Nah, I jest. It was actually a '67.
I was wondering where I'd put that! lol
