A Brooklyn Gear strapppp - similar to the Comfort Strapp but the foam is a bit thicker and it is not quite as squashy. With Schaller type locks.
Comfort strapp user here, love it. Bit thicker and not so squashy may have to try a brooklyn next time.

I take on DR sunbeams, just the right amount of pop and lovely tone. Got to say Im swaying towards lighter gauges these days maybe my fingers are turning into wimps.

Are you thinking about making a basic pre for people who dont really use over drive etc so just as a tube rack mount pre, along the lines of others out there such as the trace v-type and alembic f-1?

Spector Euro's really are something great. Wouldnt really agree with the Rickenbacker comparison but they do have a great aggressive tone. Glad you found a bass you love they are stunning. I shall always be on the look out for another.

Arr isnt purple at the moment just quilted maple. I bet she's worth every penny even if you can't hide the price. The lace wood really looks great. Anyway ill stop taking over the thread, continue with the stunning customs one and all.
I went to see Alan of AC Guitars on Friday. He's a great guy, has some equally great designs and some stunning wood in stock.
Oo didnt happen to see bits of my harlot fretless about did you? Well i love alans work so much compared to everything else I'v played I bought a second one, i dont think anyone can beat him on price to quality at the moment. Your sei is absolutely stunning but a tad out there on price for me.

That finger board really is something else.

Oop and to keep with the thread, my mate at uni had to send a guitar back to thomann and they were great. I haven't delt with them myself but I will bassed on what others have said.

I have to say you were more patient than me with the bass centre they are totaly sh*t completely un-professional, dont knwo what they are selling or working with and genraly terrible buisness men. I have no idea how they still keep going with such a terrible rep they have been gaining. Im suprised you got a rude response from the importers they were nothing but nice to me, maybe you caught the guy at the wrong time. Little story to back my comments above up: I will admit at the offset my amp was fully functional and only had a slight fault but none the less a fault on a amp with not much use so I wanted it sorted (quick recap small pop came from amp while being turned off because it wasnt discharging properly faulty power section) . Rang up bass centre where i got told i would be rang back for about a week finaly i got hold of them when the guy in the workshop was in had a chat to him. He decided to tell me there was nothing wrong with my amp I must be being paranoid it happens with some amps, i told him he was wrong due to the power supply the amp used again I was told i was most likely wrong and he would contact markbass and find out and ring me back. I heard nothing tried calling again never got hold of the guy so i contacted markbass got a quick email back saying shouldnt be doing it i was correct send it back to either them who i bought it from or the UK supplier. I ring bass centre again takes about 3 more days to get hold of the workshop, he then goes arr ok no problem (he also didnt remember me calling before) he would contact the UK distributer and get back to me of corse no phone call. I ring again rather pissed off this time and o wait I get sorry mate Im going on holiday next week dont have time to deal with it get in contact with the dealer. I ring UK dealer they take amp back workshop rings me soon as it got it, they either send back to markbass or get the replacment powersection in wasn't sure which and back to me in 3 weeks over the xmas period no less. I rang the bass centre about recooping shipping exspences the guy to talk too wasnt in I gave up I was far to stressed to follow it up for £20 quid.
A natural finish on the Bongo does help a bit in masking it's shape, I like.
Got to say i agree but you know that is the pic of a prototype which they probably chose the wood very carfuly, and maybe even made a few till they got one with such lovly grain that works with the shape. Im sure the production version will be quite hard to find with such a good looking grain patern.

Sorry nothing of just the bass on its own I will really have to get some. I'll learn something good and get some tracks of just the bass next time we are recording. If you go here http://www.myspace.com/penguininthesun and click on Get me Out thats the ACG and me recording in the picture. Thats the bass into the LMII all EQ flat and then into the desk and the only thing that was done was a little compression. But i have to stress that the amount of tones you can get out the pre-amp is huge. Here are some soundclips on talkbass to begin to see the diversity.
Was there anything particular that you disliked on the Nemesis? What was poor about them? What did the LM do better?
Well theres a 4x10 and a 1x15 in the practise rooms at uni. I think they are pretty undefined dont really sit well in the mix. Pretty hard to get a nice sound out of. Where as my littlemark through a 2x10 is full of clarity deffinition and nice bottom to back it up. Plus the peavey and ashdown evo amps they have in the practise rooms are better. It is all respective as the 4x10 i feel is worse than the 1x15, and also the rooms dont really help much. But i do feel they are by far the worst out of the amps listed above. All personal prefrence mind as Muppet has prooved alot of people swear by them. Also some people dont like markbass.

I think you will have to play them both all the nemesis combos I have played i have really diss-liked infact I thought they were all really poor. But loved the markbass head in comparison. Where as others have chosen the nemisis over the markbass.
-
Well I consider tone and weight/size as my number one considerations. After playing a few amps breifly and owning a markbass littlemark for a year I have gone to a Mesa walkabout head with a markbas cab. I think the cabs really clear and the heads similar sounding to the littlemark with alot more warmth and top keeps the definition but feels a little more deep and well filled out as well. I maybe building some BFM cabs though to try something new. Gotta say if i was on a budget I wouldnt buy anything orther than the Littlemark head, and a cheaper cab.

DR sunbeams fresh from the states. Love them. Just been through Elixir's, Ritter sword steels, and D'Addario pro steels to make the decision.
Hey MoJ (andy) whats the difference when you swap the valves?
http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=42 Have a read through that changing the valves changes the tone, amount of gain warmth, grit etc. I have a VT1 Purist I use it to add warmth to my sound ortho I may not need it for that shortly and I think it sounds great so Im going to keep it as a nice bit of drive and grit to my tone sure my band at home will benfit.
I know that it is lame to answer a question witha question but: What do you gain by buying a £1200 bass over a £120 bass?
Not lame at all its a fair point. Sorry didnt mean to come across as a confrontational. Well in a nut shell sound, quality, playability. I can see where your coming from and I can also understand paying a huge amount of money to get your sound out front to as high a level as possible. Id be more pushed in a recording situation but you are then hoping live that their PA system and cables are as high a level as your £1200 DI. I wouldnt have thought the actual improovment was worth the extra money when you pay that much. Its like paying £60 for a Hi-fi cable and £600 unless you have the most sensitive ears you can't realy tell the difference; except what you tell your self you can hear simply because you feel like you should for spending so much on such a shiney thing. Where as with my bass it improoves things for me personaly by a much greater amount and I know any half decent kit will let it sound as good as it is. I spose its where my prefrences lie. How about, what do you think is the best DI for a good balance of cost to quality?

Think I'll be back in the mids for this one
