1. Oh don't worry i'm very familiar with Gibson's antics. 😕
2. To be fair most basses/guitars were cheaper back then. The AM Pro II P bass is more than double what i paid for mine (equivalent, US Standard) back then. Shame they don't do the single pickup version.
3. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
4. Is the Gibson 2021 NR Thunderbird ever going to see the light of day, do you think? It's been a while since they were announced. https://bassmagazine.com/gear/gibson-releases-new-non-reverse-thunderbird-basses
5. I still have my MKI TB. I originally swapped the valves for old 12AT7s and it became a clean machine. An inline attenuator sorted the DI level (not that sound guys every used the onboard DI anyway). In that respect, would I notice a difference with the MKII if i stayed on clean?

G&L Kiloton
Excuse my ignorance, why not?
With regards to the humbucker with the series/parallel/single coil switch, they only make a two pickup version, or a single 'bridge' position version, rather than the L1000's original position.

It's a shame they can't make the L1000 again, with the pickup in the correct position.
8.
I reckon the US Fender 2012 - 16 Series may well become a bit like the JVs, as imo they really upped their game on these ones, both Precision and Jazz alike.
I'd argue it was upped from the 2008 onwards, as that's where the bigger difference came in imo.
9. I think Squier's output a few years back, was better/more interesting than now, perhaps.
10. Yes, that's the one. I know they were discontinued a few years ago. Just wondering why there aren't many used ones about.
11. I know they are discontinued, but I've been looking around the internet and shops, to see if I can find a used 'Squier vintage modified precision bass TB' (the 3TSB one with the single neck humbucker), from few years back. I can't seem to find one anywhere? Were there not that many made? Squiers are often everywhere on the 2nd hand market.
12. Eden fan here, thanks to Watt. I have a TN501 head and a D series cab (XST). Nice clarity and definition, with a good EQ and features.
13. I think there is a lot they could do with regards to heritage basses. Decent reissues of the T bird, also in non reverse, with nickel hardware, two part bridge etc. Release an EB-3/SG bass with varitone switch. Maybe an SG with the 60s body but with 70s pick up positioning, also as an EB-0. The previous design EB bass (2012?) could have been released in a one pickup config, like the G&L L1000. Perhaps some new colours, sparkling burgundy? Reissue the Les Paul signature bass.
14. I'd love a mid 50s style P like this, but if only these didn't have that inlay.
15. I wonder why people buy basses that I don't like the look, or sound of. But then I know it's because they like them.
16. What if someone buys a guitar/bass from previous owners who have naturally worn it in over years. Is that posing? I think we need to know what's allowed here, in case the instrument police come calling. Perhaps a COA stating where each ding and knock happened.

Thunderbirds!
That does sound interesting, I prefer the older brighter sounding pickups!
This is the version they have in Japan. It would be great if they did a non-reverse TB II (with the single pickup), in this style as well.
18. What's going on here then? The pictures are of the American Vintage '58 precision, but the title tells a different story. Are they reissuing a Bullet bass?

NAMM 2017
I worked for a company that had brand ambassadors that took our money and never went near the product, so I'm always wary of stuff like this. He's too associated with his original bass and I kind feel that many perspective purchasers would likely be going, 'Mike who?' before going to look at the Fenders. Maybe a year down the line, I'll be proved wrong.
I think Fender or Gibson could have released versions (Tele bass/NR Thunderbird, EB-3...). While in recent years he's been known for his modded EB-0/3s I still associate his previous basses with him, from his Minutemen/Firehose/solo career, but then i'm a fan. I'm just happy for the guy, he deserves the recognition.
21. Anything of note to look out for at NAMM 2017? I know Mike Watt's Reverend 'Wattplower' bass will get its official launch. I'm not a Reverend fan, but I'm a huge Watt fan and I've seen him play his prototype bass live, just a few feet infront of me and its quite punchy/meaty sounding for a short scale. The body is thicker than it might look, from the front and the neck dimensions are copied from his '65 EB-3. So I bet it will play/sound good. The colours are a bit different (yellow or green). Nice to see a company giving him some recognition.
