  1. These are great instruments. I've had mine a couple of years now and wouldn't part with it. I have Labella BB2 flats on and a good setup is essential. Once you get used to the quirky controls they can deliver a variety of tones, quite a clear hi-fi-ish sound. SS and mine weighs 6.5 lbs so easy on the shoulder. That case looks nice. If you fancy trying a Hofner this looks a good buy and I don't think you would suffer any depreciation.
  2. I bumped into Jet Harris at the NEC 'Mad About Guitars' show maybe 20 years or so ago. We smoked a cigarette together and chatted for 5 or 10 minutes. He was very personable. I then watched his demonstration/performance and the same later that afternoon with Hank Marvin. All in all a good day out.
  3. It's all gone out of numerical sequence. Was it ever going to work? I'm stuck at number 7!
  4. I think numerically would be easier with song titles which calls for a new post - JUST FOR FUN II.
  5. Well, as the BF One10 was so small & light I bought one a couple of years ago. The sound/tone was just so good that I bought another. The 2 are more than enough for my needs and with a lightweight class D head, (TCE BH250), I'm still able to roadie for myself. So a thumbs-up to BF.
  6. The 2 things that I really don't care to hear are slap & rap.
  7. That looks handsome. I've only had my Tanglewood for a few months but it has become my favourite noodling bass since I found it on Reverb for £200. Yes, build quality is very good. It appears to be ply with a nice veneer back & top. I didn't need it as I already have a Hofner HCT. With the toaster pickups on mine it's voice is quite different to the Hofner, more mids I think. The neck is a slimmer C profile rather than the Hofner D, and the waist is a softer shape. I hadn't bought anything new for some time and was convinced that my gassing days were over and that I was so happy with my 2 favourites, my Squire Mustang & HCT, that I was gas free. Anyway, pleased as punch with the Tanglewood I now claim to be gas free once again.
  8. AND he used this little bass guitar, the one that everyone wants!
  9. Never been into performance, always the music. I do however tap a foot and on some occasions indulge in a little nodding of the head.
  10. Sometimes I do, then again, sometimes I don't. More often than not nowadays it's what I think fits.
  11. Just the opposite for me, I prefer the feel of flats rather than rounds.
  12. If it looks like a great bass, if it feels like a great bass, if it sounds like a great bass, then it's probably a great bass. 🙂

  14. My current favourite for noodling is my Tanglewood Violin bass. The body appears to be ply including the top. Is it "tone plywood", (a subject not yet broached)? https://www.projectguitar.com/forums/topic/10027-myths-about-plywood/
  15. Comes across to me as a poor recording. Thought this was a good live performance.
