1. Not being really clued up on these sort of things I wondered why (and there's obviously good reason) most amp/cab manufacturers specify using speaker cables to hook up the cab/s to the head and not instrument cables? I know they are wired differently, but what would be the result of using instrument cables as opposed to speaker cables?
2. Just bought a TC electronic rig from John. Great gear and a top bloke. Cheers
3. Bloody hell, think I'll sell him mine when the refinish is complete if he thinks they're worth that much!
4. Mike committed to buy my amp subject to viewing. Arrived the following day as promised and bought it at the asking price. Couldn't wish for a better transaction. A gentleman to deal with.
5. Have a bump on me, they should sell for this price. I've just sold the same cabs for £180 via Gumtree. Cheers Rowley

7.
Well, my plan was for a "teaser" campaign where I drip-fed information over a period of time to periodically re-kindle interest and bump the thread. Seems I misjudged it. Steve
Didn't work!

9. What if you bought it, and when it arrived contacted him to say a string had been lost in transit ?
10. Taking the brass hardware parts to a local polisher tomorrow to get his opinion. If they polishe up OK I'll clearcoat them then get some replacement knobs (oo err missus) for the pots in brass too. Still trying to decide on the type of finish for the wood though, satin sheen or high gloss?

12. It surprised me too when I discovered it. It is just the wings on the front however that are dark, the back of the bass is very similar to the centre section/neck wood. Think it'll still look good though if I choose the right colour wax.
13.
looks great, first dibs when ready!!
I'll PM you when it's finished if you like.
14. Had this since early last year and was never happy with the finish. It had been re-fretted and I was concerned about what appeared to be glue along the side of the fretboard near the neck. Plus, I think it had had some paintwork before which wasn't of a high standard (not mentioned by the guy selling it on Ebay). So, I decided to refinish it. Stripped all the hardware and electronics out last week and was left with this, which, was originall going to be replaced with a white finish. After lots of sanding (mostly by hand) and sore fingers I was left with some rather nice wood So, I've commenced waxing it for the moment and was looking for some suggestions as to which wax will give me a high gloss finish if anyone has any experience of this. Obviously more polishing will be required, but I don't have a problem with putting in the elbow grease. As far as the brass fittings go, which aren't really in bad condition, I have a couple of lines of thought. 1. Simply get them polished and lacquer them 2. Get them satin chromed Any comments on what might suit? Hoping to get it finished over the next couple of weeks, then probably putting it up for sale to fund another bass.
15. Funny that, 'cos that's what I said to her...........the dental work could take some time!
16. I use a Tascam MP-BT1. Load on your MP3's, plug in your headphones and bass and play along without disturbing the cat. Great for learning bass lines too with the ability to "loop" sections of a song. You can also slow down a song without it affecting the key. Has the ability to "remove" the bass from the song to so you can "mix" in your bas at the right level and has built in FX. Here's one currently at half normal price. 17. Just ordered my tickets today to see Marcus Miller at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, sooooo looking forward to it. Was very surprised to get an immediate agreement from Mrs. Rowley Birkin as she hasn't heard of him.......must be the weekend away in a nice hotel that's got her interest! I think she's got a "garden" in mind in Tewksbury that she want's to go and see.... Roll on 5th May.

19.
Thank you everybody for your help and advice. I've bought it. The plan is that it will be the back-up to my main gigging bass which is an Ibanez Blazer. I have a mint 2008 USA P which is too valuable to have lying around unused (I prefer the tone of the Ibanez), and too valuable to risk getting damaged at pub gigs as a back-up for the Ibanez. So, it may well be that I'll sell the USA P. Black/white/maple if anybody's interested... Steve
Do you have some pictures of your American P as I may be interested. Cheers Rowley
