1. It sound like you have the knowledge to take on a project, but seem really reluctant to do it to a bass in good condition. What about building a kit like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DIY-Kits-for-LP-ST-and-Bass-Great-Student-and-Luthier-Projects-Big-Choice-/161120403032?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&var=&hash=item2583863e58 Cheap enough and once you put some decent strings on they don't sound bad.
2. Its the best one for years. Lisa Stansfield, Rudimental, Ruby Turner, John Newman, Charlie Wilson lots of soul. Plus Mel C doing Stevie Wonder and Ray Davies doing some Kinks, the only bad things were the proclaimers and the lumineers.
3. There are 3 12 volt rails, I'm only using 1. 4. If you want a sound bar you need to spend. 1000 is the minimum from a test the gadget show did last year. altho have a butchers at this link: http://www.techradar.com/news/home-cinema/home-theatre-audio/10-best-soundbar-speakers-for-your-hd-tv-913392 admitedly there is a lack of prices its a bit more current
5. Ordered some custom cables, superb quality and quick turn around.
6. The MA one just had an energy to it whereas the the pimptones version sounds like they were bored in the studio and just bolted parts around the vocals and bass line
7. I heard it saturday and thought that the song hadbeen ruined, the vocals were awful and it sounded lifeless
8. Has anybody heard the Nick Pride and the Pimptones version? What is your opinion on it?
9. He reminds of Gil Scott Heron in some ways
10. Who saw him? He was bloody excellent.
11. Some of the things we produce are definatley exempt because of the high voltages and I'm not sure about other products.
12.
Not if they want to be able to sell what they make using it.

We use lead solder in our analytical instruments, though they do get sold worldwide (mainly US)
My company uses it all the time some of our products go world wide as well, we have lead free but don't use it unless a customer asks for it. And you cannot use lead free for High voltage applications as it breaks down.
13.
60/40 lead solder is still available to the hobbyist
Do you mean it's not availiable to industry?
14. No personal experiance with but my stepdad was talking about getting a few bits for his motorbike done a couple of years ago. Here's a few links. http://www.the-polisher.com/id13.html http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=chrome+powder+coat&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a
15. Have you considered chrome powder coat? probably cheaper and should have a quicker turn around time.
16. I don't use the string very often but as i learnt on a 5 string it feels like something ias missing when I play a four
17. Nice. When i get some spare cash i shall get a second 15" cab. Do you live in haverhell?
18. There was something decent on at the Haverhill arts centre? Blue moons really do exist
19.
Forgive my high school electronics knowledge, but isn't a rectifier for converting AC to DC?
True, I meant just a regulator circuit. Another thing to consider is shielding of the signal wires.
20. You'll need to sort out a regulator/rectifier circuit to stop peaks and troughs in power delivery. Also You may want to put a acouple of vents and fans in the case to deal with cooling. Most importantly though go for a bigger battery spec than you think you need because what ever you build will not be 100% efficient.
21.
I've got an Epiphone Embassy 5-string with them fitted. They'd been fitted by a previous owner ( who's not a basschatter) so I don't know how they compare to the originals. However, they do give a neutral but slightly 'woody' sound to my ears. They do the job just fine.
My Embassy 5 string has the original pick ups and sounds pretty good but has a low output. Would be interested in hearing yours. If your interested I can do a recording for you.
22. Dave just bought my Fender Jaguar. He's as described above.
