1. I used this lot: Convertape They do a kit for guitar shielding for about a tenner. It also has conductive glue.
2. True. It does make things neater as well.
3. Yes, once I remebered to solder a wire from the copper tape to the ground on the jack. I like the sound of a 12Kg cab. Thankfully I haven't had to move the cabs around too much. See as I have two flights of stairs to negotiate with them to pet them in my room. Thinking of getting a Super12t when I finally find a band and a cheap car. Gla dto hear your move to lightwieght gear has worked out well.
4.
Cheers James. How are you getting on with the Jag/Trace rig? I sort of miss it.
Loving it mate. Fixed the horn switch on the 2x10 and put some DR Legend flats on the jag when I put some shielding in the cavities. I can honestly say I'd never sell the jag or the head. How are your barefaced cab?
5. Yes mate. Remember to twist and tin the ends of the wire and the contact on the pot/jack before solder the wire to the contact.
6. 1mm square core is probably the biggest you want to go with normal electrical cable such as twin and earth or flex. 16/02 guage would be better though. Depends what you can get.
7. Grivity picks for me as well. What they said^
8. Cheers for for the interest and advice everybody has given.
9. She LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On inspection I had caught the insulation of the hot wire from the thumper, some electrical tape sorted that and its finished. Sounds tasty.
10. The isn't a short on the jack and no wires are touching. Have checked with a multimeter and can't find the source of the short. Will be diconnecting the thumper pickup later on because I know the 84 works. Update: Have removed the thumper and now she lives. Just need to contact Wizard and sort out a new pickup.
11. Fretboard Trainer this has been helping me
12. The last of the screws showed up and now its all together. It is a lot light than it was before I hacked it about but balances better. That could be down to repositioning the strap button from the back to the side at the top. But I have a short somewhere so no sound yet. http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wirin...c=std_jazz_bass This is the wiring diagram I followed and the capacitor is 0.1mF. Any suggestions would be apprciated.
13. Cheers mate. I think I'll leave the join as is for the mo. I can always fill it in at a later date. cheers for the advice. I can't wait to hear the Wizard Thumper and 84.

Soliloquy

Item as decribed. Cheers mate.
15. Andyjr1515 this is how the layering of glue turned out. Not the best result but it works. Waiting for some srews to be delivered the the neck, bridge and control cavity cover can go on and the pickups can be screwed down. And the jack plate can be secured. Then the only thing left to will be string up and test.
16. I forgot about them. Cheers for reminding me.
17. The body will be given a touch up round the edges and laquered tomorrow. So I need to drill holes for the three pots. I saw a bass where the knobs were recessed into the body of the bass with a shamfer on the edge of the hole. Does anybody have any ideas on how to do this? Also need to order some screws for the bridge, neck and pickups, any suggestions of the best place to order from?
18. Had a comment from a neighbour that it looks like leather. I'm rather liking the more industrial (badly applied/bodged) veneering. Andyjr1515 cheers mate. Your Ibanez thread did inspire me. It's a shame that when I work with wood it doesn't like me or what I try to do to it. Will probably pm you soon.
19. The the veneer has been applied to the body and trimmed. Just need to sand down the edges and iron down a couple of angles before coats of sanding sealer and satin nitro laquer. And the neck has been completed.
20. More progress: body sprayed black nitro in my custom spray booth (computer chair box) Veneer arrived and I used the head as a test of how well I could follow Andyjr1515's instructions, I think it turned out well considering it was late and I was impatient. As you can see with the ingenious homemade clamp: 1 Safety boot, 1 thick book, 1 6x9 speaker. The result With the holes cut and a coat of sanding sealer.
21. Gator do custom colours. I think you'll have to go direct or buy from an american retailer and import. Gator cases
