1. This is "getting on like a house on fire"? I'd hate to think what things would be like if you hated each other.
2. Been doing a bit of measuring for you. My Status S2000 has the same bridge piece as your Washburn. The string spacing at the bridge measures at 17mm whereas my Hohner measures at 18mm. I presume the Hohner and your Steinberger have the same bridge/tuner system. Most Status 5ers have 18mm spacing unless otherwise specified by original purchaser or you if you buy new. Headless Status basses use the mono rail tuners so a new bass can have any spacing you want for a small extra charge. I have seen some older Status fivers, like Empathys, with 16mm spacing. They use the same kind of bridge/tuning system to your Washburn but fitted for five strings. Hope that's of some use.
3. Perfect memorial to your Gran. You will never be disappointed with a Status.
4. Lots of reliced Chibsons and Chinders.
5.
That hole to the left offers access to the end of the intonation screw so you'd struggle to make adjustments with the ball end jammed in there
My bad. You are of course right Howie. Change the bridge.
6. From the picture it looks like the ball ends need to be moved to the left a bit. That would sit them fully into the 'catch' that holds them. Don't know if that helps.
7. cdtabman1 looking for one of these. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/267427-vt-bass-di-wanted/
8. I wouldn't buy one solely because you can only carry them on one shoulder. Best way to give yourself back problems. Maybe fine for an acoustic guitar but the weight of a solid body bass would just throw everything out of balance. Some years ago I went back to college as a (very) mature student. There was a one mile walk from the station to the campus. I thought I would look cool with a case full of books slung over one shoulder. My back didn't like it at all so switched to a back pack over both shoulders. Never noticed the same weight as it was evenly distributed. Just my experience, others might know differently.
9. In that condition, and barring any unknown problems, that an absolute bargain. Snap it up.
10. I'll just try that with my Overwater. Aye, right!
11. Well, Mark King slaps quite a bit on his basses and has 16.5mm on all of them.
12. Teddy'so voice may not be what it was but for a man of 62 to be able to reach some of those high notes ain't too shabby. Lots of enjoyment has been had by this fan over the years.
13. Have a look some of his other videos. He has done just that on a number of occasions.
14. Why not stain the wood body the colour you want and then put an oil finish on it. Have a look at BigDGuitars on youtube. He has loads of videos showing how he stains and oils bodies. One example below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3ZYAOmA6ZI
15. I have to confess to being a bit of a fan boy for Dave Reoame (Dave's World of Fun Stuff, youtube). He uses ordinary household surface cleaner to clean up fret board/finger boards. He then puts a few drops of linseed oil on and wipes it over the board. I have used lemon oil on my Rosewood and Ebony boards. All seem to work fine. Make sure there isn't any residue left from the oil though. Wipe it on and then off again.
16. Why would anyone want a twelve step program with bass guitars? Cannot compute.
17. A short scale, six string piccolo bass
18. And while you two get a room I'll just reach in and grab the bass.
19. Utterly, utterly splendid! Lovely bits of wood that Alan has used there. Third picture down just makes me want to reach in and grab it.
20. loved that. The drummer is in the wrong band though. He should have been in this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DVbt5W-DNc Well it hasn't been posted for a while, has it.
21. Just had Nick's EHX Pulsar delivered. Another easy transaction. Two days (actually 39 hours to be exact) to pay/dispatch/deliver. Job done. Great pedal. Deal with confidence. Thanks Nick.
22. Have a look at this. Best viewed on mobile device and move the device around. Isn't technology wonderful. http://youtu.be/4Or6RDxzUt4
23. If your teacher is at all negative I'm not sure they will be much good as a teacher. The best way to teach is accentuate the positive. At least I think that's what some said. Enjoy the new life.
24. This sound cloud link might help. I had the same dilemma a few years ago while doing the rebuild of my SGC Nanyo. It only gives examples for the bridge pickup which is the critical tone for me. Status - 10mm from bridge ESP - 25mm from bridge Jazz - 55mm from bridge Status and ESP are humbuckers, Jazz is single coil https://soundcloud.com/bassbus/status-esp-jazz-back-pickups
25. If you are considering a fiver ESP, bare in mind that string spacing is quite close. The nut on my fiver is only a couple of mm wider than my Strat.
