1. My observations are this: I once played my Stingray through a Behringer amp & cabs at the local reheasal room and it sounded awful. No mids, VERY trebley and just clanky sounding. Like I say, Awful. Was not impressed and a little depressed from that! In contrast my P bass sounds fine through that exact setup. Anyway on Sunday just gone I took my amp (Mesa Boogie 400+) and powered her up with the Behringer cabs & the Stingray. Wow what a difference - it was sounding how it should and absolutly sitting in the mix perfectly. I guess this is a good example of Stingray's being amp sensitive. JTB
2. aah Monz, don't say things like that! Never heard the Hiwatt bass amps in action but I love the spec and look of the 200W version and you've just nudged that GAS attack a little closer JTB
3. I'd sell it and use the dough how I needed to then. Just my opinion like JTB
4. Hi Zoe, Thanks for the kind words. If you're after one a good place to look is HERE at Ishibashi's used section. Only bummer is that you have to have it shipped from Japan with all the associated headaches. That said they are meant to be easy to deal with and do a great job. Cheers, JTB
5. Lovely bass there Tony and have a bump on me. Good luck with the sale, JTB
6. Nice bass Mate. I've got a Honeyburst one and they are awesome sounding beasts. Does yours have the TB (Thunder Bird) Plus pickups? Good luck with the sale & welcome to the forum, Jon.
7. Hi All, Bit of an update below. I bought this modified beauty off of our very own Clarky a while ago and thought I'd share some pictures of it. The sound and playability of it is just ridiculous. I bought it as a 'banger' bass for practicing, etc and it's turned out to be one of my favourites It has been modified with a Badass 2 bridge and the icing on the cake that are the T.I. flatwound strings. I've never encountered the T.I. flats before and stone me are they good and nice to play! The bass itself is very nice to play as the action is just right. It has plenty of chips and bangs on the body but the neck is near totally perfect and unmarked. Anyway here it is as I got it - The mid '90's Crafted In Japan Fender Precision bass A.K.A. Sid: UPDATE: I recently managed to buy a Wizard Area 51 Stealth pickup off of our very own tonyf (thanks Mate!) and put it in this bass. WOW - it really does sound how they describe it on their website "The Stealth has a full range of tones, bassy and deep right through to crisp and bright, this makes them suitable for most styles of music, all provided with a little more, imagine a standard pickup on steroids!!" Here it is now: The reason for this change is that I ended with 3 P type basses with SD Quarter Pounders in (!) and wanted more of a spread of P bass tones. So over time I have now changed them to: 1 with a SD Vintage, 1 with a Wizard Area 51 Stealth and 1 with a P/J setup of SD Quarter Pounder & a SD Jazz Hot Stack. Cheers, Jon.

11. It's such a personal decision and can be a tough one. I leant my Mesa Boogie 2x15", 800W, cab to a mate once and he blew one of the speakers as he needed to 'give it some grunt' as he put it! Thank goodness I didn't need it soon after and he paid for the repair. If it was a gig where I followed and needed it I would have been stuffed. Another time we were the openers at a heavy metal all dayer and all the bands on the first half of the day wanted to use my amp & cab. I didn't want to put it through the mill like that so said I couldn't hang around and politely told them No. From my experiences it will always be a 'Sorry, No' from me on this subject at a gig. JTB
12. Hello Jason and welcome to our forum. I'm interested in the spec of your Newstead Elan as I know next to nothing about them, any pictures, specs, etc you can share with us? 'Cheers' Jon.

14. I am loving the feel and sound of Ernie Ball regular slinky strings on my Precision bass at the mo. JTB
15. I stand corrected. Thanks for the info and clarification, I never knew that. Do you still have the pickguard and or any accessories that came with the guitar?
16. Hi Bradthebass, I notice from the rear headstock photo that the serial number indicates it's actually a 1992 model (1st & 5th numbers). Just wanted to point that out for you. I just don't have the moolah for this but can't stop looking at this beut! Regards, JTB
17.
blokes, thanks for all the interest, ive been trying a few 2x15s locally but apart from the mesa(and thats no longer going) they sound flat as a fart next to the diesel, so i got no choice but to take it off sale. i'll just havta go back to using me jazz for most of the set. thanks again for the enquiries, and those that particularly want a diesel 4x10 should hang out til they get one..id forgotten just how good it was for the sound i personally love until i went to change it
Good man and you know it makes sense! Cheers, JTB

20. WOW - Very nice  A bit Slash looking with the black humbuckers and no pickguard. Take me down to the paradise city...
21.
...the swiss army knife of pedals...
+1 I have a lot of love for the M80 too, it's been on my board for a few years now and I can't speak highly enough of it. Last band rehearsal I got a great, slightly breaking up distortion going that reminded me a lot like the old Deep Purple sound!
22. I believe the ESP Tom Araya model is a 35" 4 string.... ...It is see HERE Don't know if that helps? Cheers, JTB
