1.
I would beu p for this but live too far, sorry.
Thank you! That's more like it - you can't do it but you would if you could. End of. To all those coming out with stuff like, "A lucky escape I reckon" or "Oh man, you guys are wasting so much time." - when you've had any number of guys put themselves forward for a quite specific job and then either let you down musically or just p*ss you around, well it's cr*p. I started this to play the music I love and I'm just an ordinary guy. I'm not a manager or a promoter or someone with all day to organise stuff or whatever. I just want to play. I didn't expect to have to deal with a load of fantasists, quite frankly, just people who want to do it, can do it and want to have a good time. And you know what - I was quite willing to let people just develop their skills, so long as they put the effort in. It's a long game. They didn't want to make the effort - that's my experience. If that makes me an *rse, well whatever. I'm not. All of this goes for any gig - not just tributes, or U2 tributes, or Queen tributes. If you aren't able to do it don't waste people's time. Is that so bad? Really?
 2.
Charming! Ok then... I won't.

PLEASE don't waste my time!
OK, OK. I was in a wee bit of a moody when I put that line. However, to illustrate exactly why I was so frustrated, we had yet another guy interested. Here's how it went: Me: "That's great!" Him: "I play guitar" Me: "Hmmm. OK, it's for a bass player" Him: "I don't have a bass. But I REALLY want to be in this band and I'm sure I can do it! I will play bass!" Me: "Well.... Can you get a bass rig together?" Him: "Yeah, course I can, no problem." Me: "OK, let me know when you're ready." Him: "Oh, no, I can't afford it! Byeeee!!" Me: Well, I daren't say anything in case it's seen to be uncool to be thoroughly fed up of this kind of thing.... See what I mean? As I said (and in my own defence) I did point out right at the start that we'd had a few timewasters. I'm human, you know?
 3. This is a U2 tribute, not a covers band. There's money to be made and I want the right people with the right skills and committment - please bear that in mind. Here's what I need (based on hard-won experience - but I'll be straight, we've had a few timewasters): - You need to live in or near Ipswich, or be willing to travel - You need to be able to turn up for practice or gigs regularly, so if you're away with work or whatever, it will probably not work - You need to be a U2 fan and know and love the tunes, and work at learning the live versions - You need to be able to play - You must want to recreate the U2 sound, look and live experience - the audience will expect it Already got a Larry (Rod) & Edge (Darren) (http://uk.youtube.com/user/NearlyEdge). Looking to play gigs by summer 2009 - new album, new tour, the time will be right. This will be lots of fun, the audience will be up for it and you will make money. Don't miss out, and PLEASE don't waste my time! Darren
