'hot deals' section along with the 'eBay' one? Please vote!
Noisyjon replied to Noisyjon's topic in General Discussion
Start looking there! That's what the section is for, perhaps it needs cleaning up and making clearer. That's something I have been meaning to do for a while!
Ped, Can any old BassChatter post in the Affiliates forum with a link/info on a deal for all of us others to see. E.g. When I saw the deal from Coda Music over the Jubilee Weekend, are you happy enough for me to post it up in there? I thought the Affiliates forum was for owners of businesses to use, not us general throng... -
We already have it covered in the affiliates section. Anyone who has something to sell can post there. Maybe we need to rename it...?
That may be the way to do it Kiwi, but are you happy enough for BCers in general to post up links/info to any offers they may find out there? -
I think it's a great idea! Guitarcables.com sent me an email a while saying that they're offering a 15% discount with a password on everything! Deleted it though Truckstop
That's exactly the type of thing I mean! -
you mean like the Affiliates bit? http://basschat.co.u...iliates-forums/
No. A section for offers from any companies that BC'ers find and can post up for us all to see. -
Seems pointless to me. If you're in the Market for bass gear snd someone on Basschat has the item you're after, it's easy to see it in the classified section. Posting a "hot deal" in relation to eBay defeats the purpose as it means loads of potential buyers bid a d the price shoots up.
Hi Kevin, I mean just from shops and businesses rather than private sellers & eBay. For instance over the Jubilee Weekend Strings Direct offered 10% off and Coda Music offered £60 off every £500 spent. Just thought it would be good to see this stuff in a dedicated place as there must be shops/online retailers putting up up offers all the time that someone would find useful but not know about. -
I see on Talkbass they have this and it looks like a great tool to have. It's a section where only Shops and Online retailers offers on bass/music related stuff are posted for fellow forumites to see and use. There have been threads started randomly on here with offers from various companies and I thought it would be good to have them collated somewhere. What do you lot reckon? edit: better explaination!

Well I went and met Mr. Nash yesterday! He was a thoroughly nice man and very informative with his little talk. There wasn't many people there, maybe 6 so it was very casual which meant there was plenty of time talk with him Don't shoot me down for this but there was a prize draw for a Nash 52ri Tele which I just had to enter While I was there I tried one of his PB-57 precisions which was really nice FWIW. Cheers, Jon

I'm sure that has been up for sale before and for quite a lot more money too iirc...

Thanks for the heads up Jack and I think I will pop in! /Salute/

IME the actual difference/addition in sound is debatable especially when you factor in the cost of the work and parts to do it. I would say leave it as is and get a J body/whole J bass to do what you want, as suggested previously...
Gibson SG. Nice and simple.
This!

After this year it all changes but the de-reg (free to use) Channel 70 and the licence required Channel 38 equipment will be OK.

The bass that you shouldn't have let go of ...
Sit down everyone (I have to when I think of this).

Fender Precision (mint condition) serial number 0189 - bought at the Bass Centre for £995 (one of Entwistles) and sold through V'n'R about 2 years later; and
Fender Precision '66 Slab body - turns out they only made 20 - another Bass Centre purchase for £895 (IIRC) and sold about 3 years later.
Can anyone beat that level of stupidity (though little choice at the time)?
Steve this story makes me wince and I have never even been near basses of that vintage! My 2 are: 1, USA P bass that I modded to a P/J with all black hardware. Really miss that one and should've kept it as it was a good player and great sounding when recorded, 2, Tacoma Thunderchief acoustic bass. There is massive sentimental value attached to that one and I kick myself for selling it on as it was in a moment of mis-guided thinking -
All good until the end of this year G.D.

FWIW I've been to a couple of gigs there that sounded great. That said I've had similar grumbles about SheBu Empire & Brixton Academy on occasions but also been to some good sounding gigs at those venues too! Guess alot of it is down to the PA rental company and the Sound Engineer employed to do the tour, if there is one.
Did you try to tighten the truss rod? It really takes a lot of force to break them (much more than a low temperature in an aircraft hold can do).
No. Just from the tap test I knew things weren't right and at the price of the bass I didn't want to go down the route of tinkering with it first.
Ouch. Sorry to hear that Jon. I recently had a problem with a faulty amp from Thomann (as discussed on another thread) and the heartache and hassle to get it sent back and refunded have completely put me off going this route again. TBH, I didn't check the exact refund amount so i may have made a currency gain or loss but the item was quite a bit cheaper than your Precision so it wouldn't have been big - but the principle is the same.
Cheers Clarky. Anyway, after all that I've found myself a nice Fender CS 61 Jazz from here to enjoy now -
Just want to vent and moan 'cos I'm fuming AND p!ssed off right now! I bought a Fender CS Masterbuilt Precision bass from Session Music/Musik Schmidt just over 2 weeks ago: http://www.musik-schmidt.de/gb-Fender-Custom-Shop-1970-Precision-Bass-Master-Built-CC-BLK.html Anyway it turned up and was looking good until I tuned it up for the first time... The truss rod had either broken or was completely loose inside the neck due to it rattling when you tapped the back of the neck behind the nut, just like my Bravewood did when its' truss rod went. So back went the bass for a refund and while leaving me sweating a bit over waiting for them to refund me at their leisure I got the double whammy of CC currency exchange charges for my trouble. So it has cost me about £85 for a refund on a faulty bass Anyway, lesson learned and I will only be buying a UK based instrument that I can either try first or get on good recommendation off here from now on and negate any other pesky charges Thanks for listening! Jon
