  1. Wow I have made a hash of this - but at least I'm learning. My only defence is I was told it was midget gen 1 when I bought it and having no experience of BF cabs I had no reason to doubt this. The 12" I put down to never measuring it just being amazed by how tiny it is and assuming it was 10" Thank you both. Of course I now don't know if I want a gen 1 gen 2 or gen X as a trade. I've totally lost confidence. However this is such a majorly long shot that someone wants precisely this trade that I don't suppose it matters all that much. 😬

  3. Oh my - I really am showing myself up aren't I? So sorry I've been writing 10 and not 12 all through - thank you @barkin how you spotted that when I've always missed it I'll never know. I suppose it's such a crazy small cab I just assumed it was a 1 X 10 and never measured it.

  7. Down to £590, something else I want may go soon so don't delay buy this today. I wanted one, I got one, I loved it, I'm selling it. This is what @zander71 had to say about it when I bought it late last year and nothing has changed since. In fact I only gigged it once: "Looking to sell ... this lovely 60's re-issue jazz bass. I believe this is a 62 model although it has the separate pickup volume controls. It's a "crafted in Japan" version and is from 2004-5 according to the R serial number. It's has no issues and is set up low and fast. A few bumps and dinks as would be expected of a 14 year old guitar. Weighs between 8.5/9lb." I reproduce these comments as I don't know anything more than that! I'm faced with a straight choice, sell bass equipment or don't get my car fixed. No car = no gigs so it's kind of a no brainer really. Sorry looking dog not included. I'm in North somerset but always happy to meet folk half way. Be silly to trust this with Hermes wouldn't it? Anyhoo you don't care about all this - you know the price you just want to drool over the pics don't you?
  8. Thanks Jack. I hate to part with the little 10" - they look so lovely together and sound even better but I'll trade it if ever I can. Hopefully all the work you put into the relic job will help.
  9. As per title I have a lightly relic'd Barefaced 1X10 1 X 12 cab and I'm after swapping it for a Barefaced Compact - first gen 1 X 15. Has to be Gen 1 so it will match my existing 15 for size. Happy to haggle a bit depending on condition cash your way if your relic job is better that sort of thing. Happy Jack's original FS thread here, I've done nothing to worsen or improve the condition of this cab which HJ had already given a realistic subtle roadworn look. I can't tell you his methods as they are probably a trade secret. Probably. EDIT: I have been reliably informed this is a 12" not a 10". My tape measure confirms my embarrassment. As to the gen 1 gen 2 debate it's 1 - 1 at the moment, please feel free to weigh in!!
  10. That's interesting because @Happy Jack who sold me the cabs said something about them being designed to be used together. I'm hazy on the details but I think that's right. Maybe the man himself might see this and fill us in...

  13. Now that we've established I have no need to worry about the weight, how about my second question? What difference if any would I notice if I added another 15" compact in place of my 10" cab?

  15. I only raise it as a concern because I can't afford to replace the Ampeg if it collapses the cabs. I certainly don't find things not do I fret. It is a concern and it's been addressed by others and so now it doesn't concern me.
  16. My list of amazing solutions includes building two dummy 4X10s which are actually wheeled flight cases for the head and other gear. I then stack them, ampeg on top BF cabs inside. Awesome right?

  20. I have recently switched to ultra heavy valve ampage. Might sound silly but how much weight can uber light BF cabs support? Also I can't bear the overhang and have come up with a number of solutions some ingenious some downright bonkers. There is a very simple solution which would be to trade my BF 1 X 10 for another old school compact, then I could stack the two compacts lying longways. But again my weight worry arises. Also I love the sound through my 15 / 10 stack and wonder how much it would alter if I switched to 2 X 15s. Any thoughts?

  22. I got rid of all my heavy cabs due to back issues but I have to find a way to keep this amp. My singer described it as "flooding the whole band sound with warmth. Like pouring melted chocolate over a dessert. It touches everything and everything it touches is enhanced by it"
  23. Quick question. I'm a bit scared of forking up this amp as I'm a hamfisted klutz. In a gig situation once it's warmed up and been turned on and sound checked, what then? Do you power the whole thing down until 20 minutes before going on? Leave it on standby? Some gigs soundcheck is only half hour before kick off, others can be hours.
  24. Next job is to build a wheeled protective case for it. Then some kind of hydraulic lift.
