Hola all, So a few months ago I got the nod from the local jam session organiser that I would be the stand-in bassist. Not a massive gigging chance and lets face it,,,,its only a jam session. However I was quite pleased that I was thought of well enough to be asked. So I find out that my pal who is the bassist for the band has not been gigging with them for the past few weeks due to other gigs and other reasons. I was a wee bit taken back that I didnt get a call to come and play. So I asked a few pals and turns out I may not even be the 3rd person inline they will ask....At the time they did ask me the other fellas all couldnt make it So im in a wee bit of a huff that I am so far down the list and only needed in an emergency. Being that far down the line wouldnt have bothered me, IF I was told. I feel a wee bit deceived by it all. I even went ahead and even bought a bass for it as i didnt fancy anyone using my Ric or Jag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Owell looks like I will just have to get my band out gigging ASAP to get my self esteem back up
well iv been going to my local jam night for 2 years and never ever been ask to play when i ask why the guy said because wev heard you well you cant win em all
I had an MC824DS which I sold last year. Great bass, but rather heavy! The 824 is the passive version with twin humbuckers. The DS part refers to the colour - Dark Stain. I had made mine into a fretless and added an active preamp (well, the Bass Doc did). Some great tones and plenty of variation available. They are quite hard to come by now, but still go for reasonable prices.
thanks conan
Great basses! Ahead of their time in the late 70s and early 80s with neck through construction, three band EQ, ebony fingerboards, active/passive - only companies like Alembic were offering these high specs! Sting played them extensively, especially fretless ones. Lovely basses - why don't you post a pic with a bit of info about yours? Mike
thanks mike you just made an old man very happy when i get the bass tuesday i will post a pic thanks again.
My first fretless which got me hooked on the idea of not having any bumps or lines on the neck. So if you fancy dipping your toes into the world of fretless but worried about losing big time financially if it doesn't work out, give this a gander - I've put a nice fresh set of Black Diamonds on it (my preference for fretless and they represent half the value of this bass!!), also set it up to get it sounding half decent. One of the pots is a bit wonkey but doesn't affect anything. Yours for £50 and I'll do next day courier for another tenner. Waddya say people? Cheers Gra hwhat make is it thanks mate [/quo te]

HI MATE IV GOT A AMPEG STACK AND A ASHDOWN STACK AND I REALLY LOVE THE AMPEG AND ALWAYS SAID I WOULD NEVER USE ANYTHING ELSE BUT A FEW WEEKS AGO I TRIED A MARKBASS COMBO 102P AND CHANGE MY MIND THE MARKBASS IS AWSOME SOUND AND REALLY LIGHT TO TRANSPORT NEXT THING I DID WAS BUY A MARKBASS 1X15 CAB AND IT SOUNDS THE DOGS BXLLOCKS I CANT BELIEVE HOW GOOD THESE LITTLE AMPS ARE. IF YOU WANT SOMETHING THAT DOES EVERYTHING AND YOU GOT FED UP OF HAVING A BAD BACK THROUGH CARRING BIG GEAR AROUND TRY THE MARKBASS. GOOD LUCK WITH WHATEVER YOU DECIDE TO DO AND KEEP ON ROCKING. KEEP MUSIC LIVE.

hi mate iv got a precision and use a mark bass combo sounds great but if you really want the best sound try adding a 1x15 markbass cab i have and it sounds awsome iv got loads of gear like ampeg rigg ashdown rig peavey combo 2 warwick basses yamaha ibanez ect the best sound i get is with the mb combo the 1x15 mb cabb and my good old fender. hope you get sorted soon and good luck and keep on rockin.
-
hi mate i have the mb combo same as yours and think it is the best sound i have ever had i also have the mb 1x15 bass bin and together are awsome but just try the combo on its own you will be suprised i also have a ampeg bass rig a ashdown rigg and a peavey combo and prefer the mb over them all , as far as price for the combo 1 would say at least £600 upwards but think twice before you change your gear as you might be dissapointed as nothing else in my oppinion comes anywhere near the mb gear. Good luck with whatever you choose and keep rocking. cheers mate
