1. My issue with Fenders is not the design, its the QC - you could get a dog of a custom shop or a peach of a squire. That's just way too vague for me, and yes I have owned 3 different MIA P basses. Sadly I wouldnt consider having another.
2. I'll give you £600 for the dog if you throw the bass in free......
3. well as I have just bought one I can emphatically say yes. (300/115) With an active bass and the gain and output turned up it will easily keep with my old Mesa Walkabout. Tone wise I have already replaced the Eminence ferrous 15" speaker with a Celstion Neo green and it is very nice. Playing aruond with the pre amp valve will I'm sure ghet me that Mesa silky coffee tone that I'm after......
4. Yarp, I'll have it please. Can you PM me with details of how you would like paying pls....? Bob. PS Merry christmas
5. Just got a Daisy rock debutante for £180 which is 32" and is a peach.......
6. Well what an odd place for me to be in..... Lifelong 'no child zone' to stepfather in 12months.... eek. However, 9 yr old girl was fascinated by my bass noodling, started to become curious and then was asking 'to have a go' (she does already play woodwind)..... Well to be fair a PRS strung with flats probably isnt the best place to start, and she does have small hands for her size, so for her birthday we have just got her a Daisy rock debutante. I've heard others on here rave about these and I have even had a noodle in s shop once (and was pretty impressed), but I wasn't prepared for how good a 'made in China' bass was going to be. TBF it has now had a 'proper' set up, and plays well out of the box, although there is always room for improvement with a sub £200 bass. I have a Schaller 4D bridge on order as the BBOT is a 2 saddle affair which is pretty rubbish but functional, and when I do this I will level the frets and put lighter gauge strings on for her little fingers. I am however impressed by the wood, the finish and the output. It has a fascinating growl for a passive one pick up bass which we all like. If anyone is interested, once I have done the bits I'll put some pics on, however if anyone is umming and erring over 'if this is a good idea' for a youngster for xmas...... definate YES from me.
7. Is this still for sale and, did you work out the spacings.... bob.
8. No longer for sale as I have been bequethed some money.
9. Friday nite bumpage.
10. WH - PM'd you -
11. Matt, interesting question....
I'm so bloody tempted by this. I am currently looking at 7 string guitars but this has tweaked my interest. Is the natural tuning for this in "A"? How does it sit when tuned from "B" to "B"?
Natural tuning is not a concept that enters Mike Mushok's repetoire.... he plays some very odd tunings mainly Ab Eb Ab Db Eb Ab I tuned it to A which required some work on the saddles to get the strings long enough but it holds that tuning well with the D'addarios that are on it. The action is fantastic and it may well fulfill your needs.
12. WH - frik me I had no idea anyone would ask that - I'll get me scales out tomorow..... BBS - As and when I get GG private stock 5 then I will not be selling it, and even if you can find one 2ndhand expect to pay at least 2k more for it.
13. As I have a new project on the rise I need to thin out the herd a little. This is the only one that I am prepared to let move onto a new home. Bought new by me and really not used, this is as new. I have fitted a D-tuner, and flatties (D'addario Chromes) but other than that nothing really. OHSC and lots of goodies. Its not registered as a 10 top but is as good as some 10's I've seen. I also haven't seen any finished in clear like this to show off the grain and woodwork. £1200 and may accept a decent 6 string accoustic in P/ex, Ovation, Fender, Taylor Takamine WHY. Its the one on the left of these two. PM or email for more indepth details or more pics. NO LONGER FOR SALE AS MONEY NO LONGER REQUIRED.
14. If anyone is interested I am prepared to let my SE Mushok baritone go. it is the the left one of these 3 and is tuned down to low A. Any details or more pics please PM or email me. £350
15. Kidding ....? No Beedster sold it to me ( I sold it to my geetard) and nowhe's buying it back....!
16. Sold subject to the usual..... Easy peasy.....
17.
Hey Bob Hope all's well mate. I'd happily taker this back for what I sold it for or thereabouts. Let me know if that's a goer? Cheers Chris
Chris you have first dibs if thats where he's thinking. I have emailled him for you and replied to your PM....
18.
Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting a DHA VT1 Bass Drive, and I was just wondering what tones can you get from this pedal? I'm looking for a warm fuzz, so you can still hear the bass underneath and it doesn't turn into a guitar (a problem I've had with previous bass distortion pedals). Would this pedal be able to provide this sound? Or is there a better option from DHA? (I'd really love to buy one, they look really good, and I've never haeard a bad word about them). Thanks guys!
Not quite the same but I have a VT-1 EQ- drive, which has the same stuff as the drive but lots more too. I bought it to 'dirty up' the tone out of a D class digi amp, which I guess is what you want to do. It does it very well and produces a good variety of drive from just a bit of boost to well over-driven boost. I am impressed with it and it does exactly what I want from it and some other stuff besides.....
19. This bass I bought from Beedster in '08 and owned it happily 'til last year when my best mate and geetard bought it from me. As a dyed in the wool 6 string player he fancied the odd noodle and really liked this one so persuaded me to let it go. sadly after playing it a few times in earnest he has now found out it causes him some discomfort to play bass so would like to make it available for someone else to enjoy. I would have it back but dont like the narrow neck (1-1/2 nut width) and really dont need it now I have the fretless PRS. These are rarer that rockin' hoss poo in the UK and not many more in the US either, they do not come up for sale on either here or ebay. Set up by me, it is a good low fast action and produces a lovely tone with the nylon flatwounds that are on it. It is in excellent condition, and has the Ovation HSC with it. Here is the Ovation link - http://www.ovationguitars.com/archive/guitar/viper_eab68 Neale hasn't given me the price he wants for it but if anyone is interested contact me by PM and I'll put you in touch with him. He can and will provide any HD digi pics by email to those with a genuine interest.
20. Hmmmmm 3 PRS bass owners within a 30 mile radius........ How interesting.....
21. I cannot believe someone hasn't snapped this up - It is a very pretty example, and the maple/maple neck is almost unique tonally. Anyone short of a kidney....?
