1. I love Porcupine Tree, and some of Steve Wilson's side projects too, and am really excited about this! If I was in the country I'd so be at one of the upcoming gigs...
2. Is it Club Tropicana with the fantastic slap line?
3. +1 I love second hand shops, go for it dude!
4. I am always willing to see girl/guitar pics. Get well soon!
5.
Darling Dear by the Jacksons
I love Jamerson's work but the Jackson 5 give me such a headache...
6. Hey dude, didn't we play together in Bicester? I'm the bassist from Hell Shrine. Anyway these guys rock and it sounds like a great opportunity, if I wasn't in my band, or across the other side of the world i'd be after this! Good luck!
7. Outstanding. If I was a bit closer to you and not going away for a year I'd be harassing you for lessons!
8. I know it's probably going to be a really controversial reply, but I felt learning lots of Level 42 songs really helped my slap technique and improv improve so much. Like them or hate them, King's lines are really fun to play once you get them.
9. If I didn't have an S2, I'd be sorely tempted!

Playing rut

Thanks guys!! I've been up since 10 and playing. Spotify is awesome! I've managed to make myself smile playing bass for the first time in ages. I think it's a combination of being a bit more cheerful and getting other problems out of the way first. I guess having things on your mind really takes its toll on your playing. I love this place.
11. I've spent a lot of time focusing on other things recently, had a bit of an upheaval (going back to Japan) and as such bass has fallen a bit by the wayside, apart from at band practices. I've also been focusing more on my other instrument, shakuhachi, as that gives me more pleasure when I play. I want that love again, that feeling when you play a bass line properly and it just makes you feel all warm inside! Whenever I pick up my bass I play the same stuff, get annoyed with myself and then that makes my playing worse. Sorry if that sounds a little unclear, I'm sure someone somewhere knows what I mean! Any tips?

13. Autumn (Paradise is Free) The Machine Stops The Chant has begun I love those 3! Also Heathrow's good, though for some reason it makes me think of Fireman Sam's into music.
14. Sorry dude, it's not for me but your running commentary is hilarious!
15. Welcome to the forum, I wish you years of bass-happiness!
16.
Fair enough then. I always hate that rush just before doors open and your still sound checking. Crazy things do happen. I also think you have this competition in the bag mate. I have only seen drummers with that expression on their face and they are strange people. 17. So metal I've sh*t myself.

Howdy

Welcome! Am curious to see your Zon..
20. My band are playing in a battle of the bands for a chance to play at Bloodstock festival in the summer. If anyone out there is around and wouldn't mind coming down it would be appreciated! The winner is determined via audience vote, which sucks because the band with the biggest group of friends there will win, regardless of who's the better band.. Anyway, rant over, my band is www.myspace.com/hellshrine Before you say anything, the recordings are really bad quality and the singer has improved a LOT since recording, having had lots of singing tution..
21. He never got back to me either... And I ended up buying a better bass anyway..

23. Went up to Stockport today to visit Slapmonsta and to potentially purchase his 90s Status S2. Before meeting up he was prompt and courteous with his messages, and extremely helpful, answering all the annoying questions I had to ask. Upon meeting he was friendly and welcoming, and he is a man who obviously cares very much about music. An absolute pleasure to deal with, and would do again in a flash. What a hero!
