1. I go with D'Addario Nylon Tapewound. Used them on a fretless Fender as well.
2. Not only did you get a great bass, but you have the Maple fretboard. Very classy sir.
3. I just played A Blacktop Precision at local Sam Ash store. It was ok, but not that great. The Squiers were better finished, for less cash. Didn't care for that style bridge on it. The fretboard was pretty rough. The neck itself on this one felt ok though. Sound didn't do that great either. I guess if you have to have a bass that's lower in price than a MIM Std., and has a Fender decal on the head, that's it. For real playing, a Squier, or a MIM Std.
4. Congrats on the Fender Precision. I've seen Precisions with more serious wear. Yours has character.
5. I heard direct from D'Addario, they don't make Fender's strings. E-brass, A-red, D-black, G-green are D'addario across the board. No particular type or number style.
6. I go with my Gibson SG Std. Light, and a lot of booming bottom.
7. Thank you Dave. I like the feel of this particular Jazz. The action on the neck just feels right to me. The prices are crazy, but the store manager cut about $100. buckaroos off the price. It was also just hung on the wall when I got there. The kids hadn't got to it yet. A set of my Nylon strings, I'm set to go.
8. Hi, I'd go with either the Fender, or the G&L.
9. I just received an e-mail from George Santos at D'addario Strings. They now have ETB92S, Nylon Tapewound Strings for Short Scale Basses. They aren't showing yet on their web site. The gauges are the same as the long scale ETB92 strings. .50 .65. .85 .105.

11.
Ummm, doesn't JPJ use one on a lot of the Zep stuff? You can definitely hear him....
Yep. You can hear him.
12. From what I've been able to get from trying the 500 Head, and a 2X12 out in a local shop, they are a good quality, and sounding alternative to the very good but pricey Mesa gear. I wish I had the cash.
13.
Well one has to do ones bit to rehome stray basses
God bless you, you're such a humanitarian. No, that's not right. A bass shepherd for wayward basses.
14.
If looking for a Jazz, this has def got to be on the list: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=147740 MIJ Jazz, for £350.
Very nice L P Blue. Great condition as well.
15. Personal opinons and all, I've played Jazzes the majority of 42 years, Precisions, and Gibson EB's the balance of the time. I kind think you get a good well rounded or punch with the Jazz. The amp you run it through is going to be the final judge of what has the dominance of sound you put out. As much as I totally love 12's, I found for me anyway, my 10's and a healthy setting on the bass side settings pounds, and punches. I don't do slap or funk, so I really can't honestly yak about that. Jazzes work, good all around.
16.
Good call! The Jazz has always been my favourite of Leo's creations
Thanks CM. I have to agree with you. Seems like every time I try to make a Precision fit my hand, I'm back to the Jazz. And, I just like the Jazz sound.
17. Beautiful bass Markbass. Thank you for taking that bass out of FL. I live in Fl, and if I had that lovely follow me home, I'd be finding a new home in Texas. A Big Congrats.
18. I decided to stay with a Jazz. It sounded more to my liking playing through a two speaker version of my four speaker amp. I did go with an Am. Std. Jazz, instead of the Std. (MIM), or Am. Spl. Jazzes. The other two didn't sound that bad, but I think i made the right choice for me anyway. It just feels right. Thanks for the all the input, I like other views.
19. I'd like some opinions on my choice of going for either the Fender Am. Std., or the Am. Spl. (both Precision) Thanks guys.
20. The bottom corner of the the neck at the E string. Lightly resting on the E. It also stops unwanted vibration of the E.
21. The shop I was at was out of stock on the RS. I tried out a BC2X10, and a BC4X10 cab today at a local shop. I'm interested in the BC2X12 for myself. They sounded good. The shop was out of the TC heads, so a Hartke LH500 worked fine. Great bottom to it with a Fender Std Jazz. As soon as I can work out the cash, Sounds like a BC2X12 is in order.
22. Any players have a Fender bass in Blizzard Pearl?
23. Hi folks. What neck length preference do have, Long, short, or doesn't matter?
24. D'Addario has some good Nylon strings out for long scale. Has any one else tried them?
25. There's a thread for bass settings, how about tell us, or show us a pic of your amp settings. I'm only showing the Classic settings on my Marshall MB4410 Combo. I kinda' prefer the Classic sound over the Modern sound.
