  1. To adjust the intonation on that bridge, There's a little grub screw under the string. If you loosen that with an Allen key, you then manually push the saddle back and forth until you hit the required spot. There's no screw to turn like the fender bridges. Once you've intonated it, then screw the grub screw down until the saddle doesn't move at all.
  2. I feel like if you want to do that, you may be starting down a dangerous road known as the search for tone. If you can afford to, it's always worth pursuing, it's how places like this exist as people pass by on their own search for that elusive sound. I tend not to bother with changing valves, but it might be an idea to see if you can try out an amp with the valves you're thinking of using. Maybe a cheaper way to start.
  3. Funnily enough, I ended up finding what I hope to be a direct replacement for the old one, as mine uses threaded captivated nuts which are stronger than screwing in a wood screw. I started looking for a replacement wheel but I found one with the right dimensions on ebay. With luck they'll be here ASAP, and I can see if they work. This is them in case anyone is after some as well. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F282329357464
  4. Okay, if you can find a set of caster wheels that are 3" diameter, and 1 1/2" across (the distance between the mounting points), then that would be grand. Or for the full unit, it's 100mm overall height 45mm x 75mm fixing hole centres. I can't find any anywhere.
  5. I've also seen a couple on ebay for £502. I'd just prefer to help someone out who wanted to sell theirs second hand, as I try never to buy new unless I have to. Though it seems like these are holding their value well atm.
  6. I played one of these at the Dawson in Liverpool yesterday. It played very well and sounded amazing. Just how you'd imagine a vintage one to sound. It's got me looking for one now. If anyone wants to sell theirs, give me a shout. I'd prefer the sunburst, but ebony would do.
  7. I believe they're a threaded bolt. Okay, when I get a free minute, I'll give them a measure and get back to you with the details. Thanks dude.
  8. @MWH thanks dude. I don't mind them being non original, I'm more interested in ones that are sturdy and rugged. If you have a couple of 3" wheels that would be grand. @ikay That site looks spot on, but this needs to be fixed in 2 weeks in time for my bands tour around Spain. Otherwise I may have ordered them.
  9. One of the wheels on my cab has died, so I'm after replacing it, and I'm wondering if anyone has done it and can point me to a direct replacement as I've had a good Google, and not found a source for new ones for it.
  10. It is. I'll be making a video of its sounds tomorrow for an interested buyer in Lincolnshire. I'll see if I have time to put it up here.
  11. Pickup wise, I'd first start off by finding places that have stock pickups that are the same shape as your current pickups so they just go straight in. Then read reviews of each one, and you'll be able to narrow it down. Preamp wise, it depends how much you want to spend. The high end preamp like ACG and John East have excellent reviews, but are quite expensive. Cheap Chinese ones from ebay (around £15) are okay, but aren't very usable. Depending on what you're after, it may also help to Google your bass, and see what upgrades people have already put in. There may be a standard upgrade done to it that a lot of people like.
  12. That sounds as if your bass has been shielded with either black paint or copper foil. This wire would have been used to connect the shielding to the earth to stop unwanted buzzing. Assuming that's what it's there for, I'd connect it to an earth point. A picture would also help to determine its use if its not the shielding thing.
  13. I had one a while back. The black with tortoiseshell pick guard. It played fantastically and its built really well. Had a great sound too. Perfect combination of P and J. I think you'll be happy with it as its definitely underrated.
  14. The OLP (officially licensed product, by Musicman) Stingray bass has the classic sound of its homage. This one has been upgraded with a custom made preamp, based upon the original circuit from 1976. Shielding throughout. Its all black, with black hardware, and a custom BWB pickguard. Fresh battery and strings on it as well. No trades. Try it out first, im in New Brighton, on the Wirral.
  15. Everything works on it, completely stock. The headstock has also achieved a nicely aged look about it. Few small bumps and dings about it as its a 20 year old bass thats done its job. No trades, and feel free to come round to try it out. Based in New Brighton, Wirral.
  16. This bass has a P and J pickup arrangement, and Vol/Vol/Tone controls, with speedknobs, and they all work perfectly, no crackles. It uses double ball end strings, which it is currently wearing a brand new set of 40-100's. The paint has cracked on the back of the neck and body in certain places, due to poor storage of it by the previous owner. Sounds amazing and stands up perfectly on its own due to the 2 bottom strap pegs. No trades, and come try it out. Im in New Brighton on the Wirral.
  17. Sounds like you're a function over fashion guy. I reckon they would get in the way, but then also allow you to try playing in a different way. To be fair, i installed covers on my jazz bass, then took them off about two weeks later as they got in the way haha.
  18. Has anyone added the pickup and bridge covers to one of these yet? Make it essentially a reissue.
  19. Dam. However did you get hold of the electrics for it?
