1. well cheers for the heads up, ones to avoid
2.
Good groove there and I love the fact he does not overplay.
this ^ would have been so easy to overplay and loose the groove, loved the vid well done
3. bought a shiny Aguilar Agro pedal, very nice chap. Packaged v.well and posted v.fast
4. awww, just round the corner too, ah well good luck, i would say break a leg
5. good thinking Lemmy, i guess you could also use them for cleaning drains/plug holes
6. ah, the wonderful world of software licensing or should that be licencing back on topic, those bass string bracelets and jewelry are pretty nifty, clever use. i want to see someone weave a belt out of E strings, ooooooo a string vest! do it do it do it!
7. yeah its all good fun, was watching a few pedal reviews on youtube and saw a sandberg 2 string some german fella had, fun times. Now if only that hadn't driven me to browse the sandberg site...luuuuvly gear. i've been thinking of playing with tunings, and setting up a bass with something a little exotic, but all E's, i know Lou Reed did something like with on guitar, but i can't see it myself, not sure what string/tuning will be going on this one either yet anyhoo back on topic, finally got my fret technique sorted and all frets are in (if they stay there is another thing altogether), so machine heads and neck shaping now...and i wonder if you're meant to varnish/laquor/polish...do something to the neck when done...more lunch time internet browsing
8. well now i feel ill, really looks like someone wiped their derriere up and down the neck like a truck stop pole dancer
9. So, after several skint months i figured out that i wasn't skint this month, hurray and much rejoicing, but then..GAS! I couldn't really justify a new bass having just got one in September, and not really in the mood for a guitar my wandering eyes were cast to the pedal board..hmm, maybe a distortion, and then i realised what i wanted was a little project to occupy my mind, the new distortion moved to the back burner an idea for a build was starting to form.....CIGAR BOX GUITAR! oh yeah baby, now i'm yokel! So got all the bit at the weekend and been busy carving and assembling, its been pretty fun, made a few little mistakes here and there but the build was going well until....dun, dun duuuun Frets! what a bleeding pain in the arse they are. anyway i guess i'm about halfway through, i'll post some piccies when done
10. girlfriend saying..but you have enough basses now
11. damn you, recently had to buy a replacement practice amp for the guitar, would have loved this, great amp
12. kinda related to Bassace's but people using the word Show, as in are you doing a show this weekend?...no, but we do have a gig on, Paul Daniels does shows, we do gigs! and to me calling it a concert sounds too pompous for a rock band
13. one from flight of the conchords that always cracks me up, calling the bass guitar the Dad guitar
Murray: You can't go on like that! Won't it sound weird with just the 'big guitar' that Jemaine plays? Jemaine: Bass. It's called a bass guitar. Murray: Well, I call it the 'Dad guitar' 'cause it's more like (deep voice) "Da da da da - I'm your Dad. Hey Murray, get into the shed and get the mower and do the lawns - de de de." You need Bret's 'Mum guitar' to add the beautiful tones (high voice) "Come on, darling, Murray's okay. Why you get home so late, Gordon?" (deep voice) "I was just havin' a few beers."
14. just as an addition, i do really like their cabs....a lot
15. hmm, i have to agree, at first i thought, oooo, but after a second glance and closer look it just seems wrong and echoing previous comments, cheap like its trying too hard to be quirky although saying that i've never been overly fond of ashdown heads, just something about them.
16.
Markbass newyork 122! :-) where can i get a good markbass shop in London?
yeah i've been eyeing up the Newyork line, the 112 is tempting, perhaps track one down in the flesh as it were
17. Hey Liam, My mates band are still looking, although your influences maybe a bit on the progressive / punky / heavy side, but check them out. 18. that's a fun version you've done there
19. +1 for carrying a drum key, i'm tempted to give one to our guitarist as well (he's pretty organised before gigs, its only afterwards where he loses everything...including his amp once!) and i always curse at not bringing a torch, groping round the back of an amp. Perhaps time to properly sort out my gig bag, i like the idea of an old laptop bag, i have a few kicking around.
20. well, if the Steel Leather is still available by the time pay day rolls round...1 week away and totally skint edit: i've been struck by dumb-itis, i thought the steel leather was actually the Mole, good job i checked. Still looks like a good pedal and a bargin, but not quite what i'm after. Sorry about that
