1.
Lots of gigs are under threat and noise is the main reason. We do at least 5 that have problems and we play at the level the gig requires. Why did he have to ask 3 times? Why did you say sod it? If you can only play at an excessive level then either you need to change how you play or don't accept gigs that are not appropriate for your band. We all loose these gigs if guys like you say "sod it" and don't do what you're asked.
like he said, playing AC/DC softly ...yuk
 2.
Played the Golden Fleece in Stamford on Friday. Just before we started the drummer said "oh there's the bass player from my old band - he's brilliant" and proceeded to trot out all the reasons for this dude's brilliance. Oh great. So, no pressure then. Got through the first number okay but then we went into All Right Now. Got to the bass riff before the guitar solo and had a complete melt down. Just two bars but those two bars were very, very bad. Over the last three years I must have played that song a thousand times and never had a problem. Now, when I'm trying to prove to the drummer that I'm not the ham fisted buffoon he thinks i am..... Played my best ever for the rest of the gig but somehow.....
the exact same thing happened to me at the flowerpot in Derby, i got talking to some fella just before we went on, turns out it was Colin Hodgkinson, i completely destroyed the first 4 bars of the opening number.

 11.
I wouldn't say it's 'nonsense' - you're just not into antiques, are you? Some people like to collect objects for reasons other than that of their actual purpose. They made some good basses in the 70s too. The 76P I had for many years was excellent.
Na... He just don't like Fenders..
 12.
Perhaps I'll give 'Strawberries' a go well, seems to be getting some serious love here! How's PG's bass tone on that one? I think part of TBA's appeal is his playing and awesome sound.
strawberries is a great album, bass sounds awesome
 13.
Strawberries is my second favourite Damned album after Machine Gun Etiquette. Have you already seen this..... http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3h-Y0cjPJr0
... Cheers for that Jonesy, never seen that
 14.
Hope you get sorted Gary and have many long years of gigging ahead of you. Several years ago I moved over to the micro/neo kit and have never looked back. I am now 51 years old (I like to think of it as 21 with 30 years experience ) and will never be going back to heavy weight gear. I to have suffered from shoulder pain, which sent me down the Sadowsky NYC route and for the last 4 years, I have been gigging with my bass which weighs just 7 pounds. However more recently pain to my neck/shoulder has become more of an issue and like you, I purchased a Gruv Gear duostrap but could not adjust it to my satisfaction. Well after reading your post, I plan on spending the afternoon with the duo strap and using it for this weekends gigs and will be putting in an order for for the Mbrace guitar holder next week. I really enjoy Basschat and am always grateful to everyone for sharing their expertise and knowledge here. However I would particularly like to thank you Gary, as your post has been a real wake up call for me and possibly others on here as well. Wishing you the very best
yup.. What you said.
