Easyjet and a couple of days off! Business and pleasure. -
Well played Sir. Have a great trip.
Now then, do I really want a VM Jaguar?
Turns out I don't - got a nice little result on eBay this afternoon for something different.

I just noticed that GAK are currently running a rebate scheme on Fender and Squier basses and guitars and amps. Up to £90 off the expensive stuff, smaller rebates on the less expensive stuff (£25 off a VM Jag bass, for example). I don't know whether it's a money-off-at-checkout thing (as the name of the promotion implies) or a cashback-with-voucher thing, I don't know how long it's going to last, and I don't know if any other retailers are doing the same, but somebody may be interested. I have no affiliation with the retailer, except as a previous customer. Now then, do I really want a VM Jaguar? EDIT: amended thread title because it isn't just GAK running the promotion.

Anybody else find themselves reminiscing about the Sue Ryder thread...?
Surely you don't think I would have palmed it off on someone unsuspecting?
Not at all - it was written in jest. I liked your *sigh*, though!

I am not a gigging bassist and it is unlikely I ever will be, but I'm going to get my camera now and start taking pictures. Sorry for your gear loss and I hope you get it back undamaged, and thank you for the reminder to be prepared for the worst. EDIT: Done. One photo also picked up the glint of the uv-visible writing I put on the headstock of my Westone many, many years ago, so I should look for one of those pens and perhaps discreetly mark everything else.

Any one near Gloucester/Cheltenham who can give me a hand?

Lovely thread - well played, Andy. -
Well I can't do any work without having something on in the background and before you make another patronising comment like a smug little idiot, I got an A* in maths so obviously that technique worked for me (this included working whilst watching actual decent TV on an evening before you say anything else).
Wow. If that's the edited version I hate to think what I've missed. See Dave Vader's smiley? That means you owe him an apology.

Because you lot asked me to do it....

Satellite guitars and basses were sold in the Kays catalogue (others too? - probably) in the late 70s/early 80s. I have one from there/then with a 24" scale-length. Still works - I just checked. It's not quite as grimy as that P in the OP, and there's nothing left to say where it was made. Should such short-scale basses be tuned as normal I wonder? Maybe it would respond well to being tuned an octave higher... -

Mods - can I have an automatic setting that ticks Like This for all Skankdelvar's posts, please?

I'd prefer all the posting information to be closer together, rather than split either side of the screen (title/started by/go to first unread post button to the left, views/replies/last post to the right) so that I can take it all in with a glance. Subtitles no longer show alongside/beneath main thread titles. And - yes - change frightens me! I do like to see format changes (such as italicising) instantaneously while I'm writing a reply. Is that why somebody mentioned that the Preview Post feature has gone? I guess I'll find out any second now... ...aha - it's there in More Reply Options. EDIT: clarity

I would honestly describe myself as an online customer. That's not a reflection on music shops, though - I'm pretty much an online customer for everything because I don't enjoy shopping and I'm uncomfortable amongst crowds of strangers. I feel less uncomfortable in music shops than I do in clothes shops, that's for sure.

Mike Watt on the bass. Also the fantastic Mr Nels Cline on guitar. And it would now be unfair not to mention Stephen Perkins on drums and Willie Waldman on trumpet.
