4. What better way of spending my birthday (on the Saturday) than at the bass show.................well I'm sure there's lots of better things but Mr. SlackAlice & I will pop along. Must remember to take earplugs this time!! Angie
 5. I had a 2 hour lesson with Jake on Saturday. I can only echo the feedback left by others here. Inspirational! We discussed the areas that I'm looking to brush up on (theory being one!) and established a way forward for me. Jake has a great relaxed approach & gave me confidence in the abilities I didn't know I had! I can highly recommend him - a brilliant tutor! My homework is to learn scales in all 12 major keys to learn for my next lesson............Thanks Jake. Angie
 6. Great stuff! All the best for this evening.......and enjoy it. Angie
 7.
I recently purchased a stentor blonde rockabilly bass for £680 it arrived packed up well and after unpacking we took the metal tailpeice off changed for ebony , then took the ajustable bridge off never liked these rather have full sound of strings going through the bridge. Restrung it with inovation super silvers tuned up and left it a couple of days to settle down E A D sounded ok ish G string buzzed rattled and no end of ajusting and moving the Bridge would shift it . The fingerboards on these are ebonized and have dips and rises like the welsh valleys. The build quality is shockingly bad i thought primavera blondes were a bit shoddy but these are like ply from the builders yard, what is used for smashed windows etc, the varnish was thin in places and thick in others, i would warn anyone who is considering one of these to stay away from them rather use a t chest bass than this, When plugged in with good pickups sounded just as bad no bottom end , so primavera is one of the better ones now in my eyes if you want a nicer tone and a better build try a primavera 50 the problem with internet basses is you cant try them so if this helps anyone with these basses then great im sticking to my 37 kay you would be better finding an old czek or german if you want a cheaper bass and doing it up
I know very little about double basses but you'd certainly expect better for that price! Sounds like shockingly bad quality control - if it even exists at all in their workshop! Like the 'flame' double bass in your picture Bob! Angie
 8. Yay! Mine has arrived too - many thanks Ped. Angie

Love it! John Wetton - one of my bass heroes! Angie

 19. Thanks guys. Slight change of plan - the audition is now next Monday. It's good for me as I can prepare more by learning more of their tunes. Angie
 20. Many thanks for the encouragement guys - much appreciated.
Have fun, obviously play as solid as you can, no need to over play Remember, you are also auditioning them, they might not be at your standard or they might be tossers Hopefully, they'll be a nice bunch and you'll form a good band -- Unless you can easily play some of those in different keys, maybe check what keys they use so you dont get caught out on the day
Too right! I followed your advice regarding keys as for Stevie Ray Vaughan's 'Pride & Joy' I believe he down tuned to Eb........I checked with the lead guitarist and they play it in E.......I know it's only half a step but I'm glad I checked - thanks for giving me the heads up Lojo!
Indeed. Went to one yesterday. Refreshed my mind with what I had worked out the night before (proggy It Bites etc some of which I did not really know). Had the tracks on a memory stick playing on the way down in the morning. Set up. Had a blast. Packed up. ****ed off. Seemed a nice bunch. We shall see. Just enjoy
Hope you get the gig WalMan! I'll be listening to the tracks as I work today and just hope they sink in. Last night I worked out the chords for all the tunes they listed....so hopefully I will be able to play along with the ones I haven't learned, even though it may be just roots, 3rds & 5ths for tonights session. Thanks again guys for your help - will report back later this evening. Angie
 21. Well, in my quest to start gigging again after a long break (8 years), I have an audition with a band tomorrow evening. Have spoken to the lead guitarist who's assures me there are no egos within the group - just what I'm after! They are also recruiting a new drummer & keyboards so I understand the group is starting 'afresh' as it were. Songs they are currently getting up to speed with include: Sweet Home Chicago, The Thrill Has Gone, Mr. Big, I Got You (I Feel Good), Pride & Joy, I Wish & Still Got the Blues. Will keep to the 12 bar blues theme and run through Sweet Home Chicago and Pride & Joy for the audition............ I'm excited at the possibility of being in a band again but also very nervous - will be playing blues lines through my mind while I attempt to sleep tonight I think!!! As this is my first audition for 16 years I'm a tad rusty with my approach. Any advice would be greatly received!! .........and a cheeky request but if anyone has the notation to any of the above tunes that they could send me please I'd be forever in your debt!!! Angie
