Cheers man. It was but a mere twinkle in my eye back then. I literally built this over a weekend and then took a day to cover it.
Most impressed matey, very quick work too! Is this another arm to Osprey Guitars?... Eude

Nice work Rich! That's looking great! You're a dark horse... Did you tell me about this at Moffat? I don't think I got THAT drunk... Eude
Yup, great game, I thought Allain Roland was Frances top player!
Ha ha
I'll survive, I'm celebrating a monumental England win with a large jar!
Was squeeky bum time for a bit though wasn't it?!... and I'm a Scot! Eude

Stunning mate When will it arrive?...
Yup but today I'm mellow, beer + rugby.... Have you tried the EAD 112? I like the idea of buying like this rather off the peg, they look great!
I haven't played through one unfortunately, but I imagine it'll be a similar vibe to it's bigger brother. The 2x12, at least to my ear sounded like an Aggie GS 1x12, amazing depth, weight and clarity, but with substantial amounts of mid range, something the GS cabs lack at volume. Basically, a MarkBass head through an EAD 2x12 is basically exactly the sound I have in my head. I imagine the 1x12 will kick equal amounts of ass
More chance of that than getting a bass I guess! Thinking of spending the cash on one of those little prometheans, I've been eyeing up those EAD 2x12's too, if only they had casters, I'm just too lazy to move anything over 18kg!
If you want an incredibly capable 1x10 combo, the Promthean is tough to beat, if you want the best 2x12 money can buy, don't look at anything else but an EAD, they really are that good, and if you need casters, Dave might be able to swing something for you, no harm in asking Sorry you've still not got your basses mate, I think it's fair to say it's BEYOND beyond the joke now...
I'll give you 3 guesses!
Bugger :-(
I'm in! L-R: 1971 Precision, 1971 fretless Precision, Roscoe Beck IV, 1971 Jazz. By the way, I'm happy to note the use of the word 'settee' on this thread, rather than 'couch' or 'sofa'. I approve.
Love those basses, particularly the Roscoe Beck Is it a 35" scale on that bass? It looks a bit longer than the others...
Maybe more experienced members will chime in, but for buying a bass the Bass Gallery in London has a good rep, as does Bass Direct in Warwick.
Yup, Bass Direct if you're aiming for a high end boutique/specialist shop, GAK or GuitarGuitar if you want to talk to larger chain shops. Eude

I'm a little late to the party, but did you have a look at the new(ish) Fusion gig bags?... Eude

Wow! Tom moves quickly! Looking great mate Eude
also has a line out so could be hooked up to something like a pjb300 possibly? mmm.... what the hell, will probably give it a whirl! Your new 6 playing ok?
That wouldn't be necessary dude, as you could simply hook it up to any other unpowered speaker to unleash the full 500W at 4 Ohms. The new 6 is insanely good, but not really a surprise there Eude
Sweet, will have a look, need something that won't sound like a "wasp in a jam jar" but is v portable, will use it for noodling at home as much as anything. I've flogged all my other stuff and at some point will get something a wee bit bigger, possibly a reidmar, not sure yet.
Well the Promethean sounds like a good fit mate. I downsized to one of them when I knew I was moving to London. I've used it live for a few gigs, pub ones without PA support and as a monitor for louder ones, it's proper loud and very VERY full for it's size. It also has an Aux in and Headphone out, so great for use at home too. There's some other folks on here who use one too, no real complaints bar a couple who've been unlucky with quality control, but if you buy through Thomann they have a very good warranty procedure from what I've heard. Eude

Ibanez Promethean 5110 Combo. 1x10"Combo, with removable 500W amp head. Incredibly loud and full for it's size. Built in tilt back stand. Can do hifi and old school sounds, bit more old school than MarkBass gear. Very reasonably price too >> http://www.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_p5110_promethean.htm You could probably get the Eden new for about twice the price... Eude
Forget these if you have 3 grand and want to spend it on something special. ACG my friend. The mutts nuts
+1,000,000. One stop shop for all your custom bass needs, I won't go anywhere else anytime soon -
ok thanx for the comeback buddy , I thought they where made with Alnico 3 or 5 , but someone can have whatever he want s I guess with ACG
I think Alan ususally does a ceramic pickup at the neck, and an alnico at the bridge, for a bit more variety, but yeah, you can have anything you want, as long as you say please...
-
Hey eude, congrats on your bass,by the way, what are these pickups buddy
Hey man, thank you very much. I'm a very lucky chap! The pickups are ACG Single Coils. I believe they're both ceramic too, for a bit more bite Eude

Got an ACG? got a webcam? I've got a favour to ask...
eude replied to LukeFRC's topic in Bass Guitars
I know that somebody fitted the preamp in a Thumb Bass a few years back and loved it. I can't recall who it was, but there was a thread on here, or bassworld, or whatever it was back then. It seemed to work nicely though. I think the flexability of the ACG Preamp would make it a success in any bass, it'll obviously work differently from bass to bass, but I think it'll be effective wherever you put it. Eude -
Lovely pics mate, that's a peach of a bass I really must get some pics of both of mine with proper day light, might have time tomorrow... Eude
I agree with the hangers being an issue but what about one of the large stands you can get for multiple instruments. One per room, too big to get knicked and very useful for a small outlay
Yeah man, that might work, will pop it on the list Eude
-
As it looks like the gear's sorted, I'll add to the mention of whiteboard another handy thing to have in a studio - guitar hangers. Just the two-slopey-prongs sort screwed into the wall, save propping your pride and joy up precariously somewhere while you have a pee/get a drink/write on the whiteboard. Oh, and a rackmount tuner stuck in the wall.
Whiteboard - Cool, will make sure my mate knows about that Tuner in the wall - Sounds like a great idea. The powered desks might end up being racked in some way, so it could sit along with that Hangers - no way, if someone's pride and joy drops out of one by accident, it'll be on the studio's head, not worth the risk, if a stand is that important, you can get a small one and pop it in yer gig bag, I always take a stand to rehearsals... Cheers, Eude
