After 15 years of buying and selling stuff online I’ve finally had one go a bit wrong on me. My learning- the ethos of how you act on basschat as a good seller isn’t the same on other music forums

I was about to recomend my credit card that charges no handling fee … but looked up and don’t have that benefit any more!!

Why? Bass guitar, heck almost any instrument isn’t going to sound good with everything below 8kHz cut out! I would look at the Vong and miniVong at musikding as alternatives …

Yeah it was me bumping it up, been looking at the 2.1 and 3.1 and enjoyed it that @Al Krow started a thread and liked them so much he ended up with two of them

I don’t have bas GAS anymore - but that PJ has to be one of the nicest basses on basschat

Interesting - I had a ACG EQ1 and started it with the high filter from the bridge and after playing with it a while ended up with it on the neck pickup (on a Warwick SS1 so probably not a million miles away from Wal position, if not a different style of pickup)

But these days a two channel amp and digital crossover would probably be cheaper.

That's true metric brightness rather than your old fashioned imperial brightness -
Here’s a question that might make me look like an idiot… I’ve used a few compressor pedals before and in build compressors in amps, (Tecamp puma 1000 and Hughes Kettner QT600 come to mind) I even have used the compressors on a zoom b3 and B3n successfully… so I know a little light compression does things I really like … but… hx stomp I’ve had less joy dialling in a basic starting point that works - apart from the LA studio comp that I can sometimes get sounding ok… now the problem is all me- lack of ear skills, lack of metering meaning lack of confidence … it’s the thread hold I find hardest to set - and not knowing the ideal x-over freq on the 3 band… and the Rochester so any tips of how to work it out - or any suggested starting places settings for bass settings - esp on the 3 band?

And @Al Krow has gone quiet too come to think of it has anyone ever seen them both in the same place? Coincidence- I think not. Could they be the same person??!

“Do I like this pedal” I asked turning it on and off wait - I think it still has a transformer in the signal path when turned off so put it in the effect loop of the hx stomp - def makes a difference also an envelope filter before it is fun- quiet playing and when the filter is triggered it pushes the colour box into fuzz territory!

also I should add - the pink line was me boosting the mids enough to get the response flattish- I could have added more to give a boost if I wanted

oh and I also looked at some IR's through the same setup... my one thought about the differences between the cab models of a SVT 8x10 vs the IRs of an SVT8X10. - the shape of the eq curve for the cab are the same, and the top end and bottom end roll offs are similar.... but the peaks and dips in the frequency aren't as extreme - it's a less extreme flavour of the cab... again that's without being able to see the time based element of the models/IR
