  1. go cold turkey first and just use IEM. There is a wee learning curve for everyone setting levels and the difference in how it sounds etc. once you've got that then the aesthetics thing can be looked at...
  2. So I went on a bit of a mission with this headphones thing - as Christmas was coming up I asked for the Edifer HD850 for a present. My mother in law ordered off eBay but when I unwrapped them the plastic joint that connects the headphones to the head band had sheared off in transit. Money was refunded and given to me to sort myself out... (though the seller didn't want the broken phones back so they are still at my in-laws, I might try and superglue for something that kinda works but won't move much) So next on the list were the Superlux HD681, probably in the HD681F model that are a bit flatter. I'll be using them to set up HX stomp patches so close to flat as possible is useful. £20 in Thomann, but while I was there started looking at the AKG K240 studio that the Superlux seem to be influenced by and reading up on reviews ands the like and on the difference. A chance eBay search found a pair of old school AKG K240-DF headphones... slightly misslabled in the auction and finishing at an odd time, so I managed to win that auction for a tiny bit more than the Superlux are. I'll have to work out the whole 600ohm thing but should be interesting. (and if it doesn't work out I can always sell them for similar and buy the Superlux)
  3. there next thing youtube played me - also features some bass playing.... and lyrics that I'm not convinced export that well
  4. doesn't your stomp have a model of that? If you need more volume just add more of your powered speakers... Also if you want a massive bottom... you've got an ACG preamp on your ACG - you can do some nasty things with that boost knob on the neck filter Oh crap, I've broken the rules of basschat... yeah, your current gear is rubbish for that gig, sell it all and buy new stuff
  5. I get why folk want super lightweight basses- typically it’s going to be hung off you for the gig... ... but mega bucks on something slightly lighter than a barefaced, when all you need to do is move it at the start and end of the gig.... which 30 years ago your equivalent would be doing with a trace Elliot 4*10 and 1*15 ... ?
  6. Aguilar Th500 is $789 in guitar centre plus tax is $868 equivalent to £661 I don’t know what markups shops make on bass gear but I’m going to presume something like 20% = so wholesale price is somewhere around $630 or £480 in the uk - take that £480 add our 20% import duty= £576 add our shops 20% margin and then the VAT on the total and we get a retail price of £829 maybe our shops take a bigger margin of 25% because of higher costs and you get £868 which is what I would expect they are £699 in the high street music shops
  7. I’ve played that mouse - it’s amazing. And I dont even really know how to play fretless - but that thing is really fun to play
  8. Would that be linked to @Frank Blank getting a new ACG by any chance?

  10. Not really, but each to their own!
  11. Sort of thing that will sell better on here
  12. To be fair @binky_bass your points 4-7 would be good applied to basschat too?
  13. I think it’s more of a rack compressor
  14. Filters would be better, so you could actively filter down to what you want to see. Subsections mean that somethings just won't get seen enough as you'll loose the more casual but interested traffic. Filters would be a lot of dev work though I think.
  15. I like Basschat. Folk are generally sound, on a similar wavelength to me and it's the best place for shifting specialist stuff. FB takes more time if you're looking to buy, and also fills up your newsfeed with pictures off basses. Personally I don't think you can buy from there unless it's local. Selling is ok depending on where you are in the country. eBay will take your money and probably shift it for you. For some stuff it's the best place to find stuff... I like the idea of using Bassdirect. At the end of the day their cut is probably not that much different to eBay/Paypal, and if someone is taking a chunk, I would much rather support a local specialist bass retailer than eBay who aren't the nicest company in the world. The big problem I see with Basschat at the moment, is that it's become really only effective at the higher end stuff... cheaper more generallist items (say a squier bass) are more likely to be listed and sold on FB and move quicker. The issues with that I can see are twofold... for the site, is it a valid channel for young folk at the start moving cheaper end stuff around? as there's a risk of the bass chat demographic getting older and older... and secondly for me... things like straps, bridges and odd bits just don't get listed as much as they used too, folk just listing their parts drawers used to be more common, and for someone just wanting a secondhand pickup or something, they just aren't here any more. Pickups are a good example...
  16. Use the effects send to go to your amp. Main send with a TRS-XLR to the desk what it will let you do too is add any blocks that you don’t want going to your rig after the send. eg if you are playing through a cab you probably don’t want to put a cab sim in your rig, but you might to the FOH
  17. yes you have. ACG have beautiful body shapes - but something about the woods on your one......
  18. I’m trying to get us onto a digital solution. We use opensongs for the presentation and the opensong format supports chords and they have a free android app that supports them - opensong files also can be read by OnSong ... the thing is you then loose OnSong ability to create and beam sets but it’s more accessible to non Apple owners
  19. Based on this review I also spent £3 to fit these to my UE 900s earphones - up to now I’ve been getting an ok response with different foam ear buds, but playing at church where sometimes you have to take one side in and out a bit they never last long... these things though are brilliant - I’ve just used them and not had so good, and long lasting, isolation from the room - you know they work when the ambient noise of a bunch of people chatting in the room is quieter than your IEM mix was. Really really really good. Recommended if anyone hasn’t found something that works for you plus if you’ve any wax in your ears the flanges pull it all out!
  20. you're reacting well to your band leader suggesting you all switch to IEM and not amps... which stage are you at now? denial?
  21. achhh it all gets beyond my ability! I bought a big old class AB amp myself last week- power consumption 950w it says
  22. No - make sure phantom is off on that channel though
  23. Ideal three bass sounds you want... something that can sound like a precision, something like a jazz and something like a stingray. Plus animal based wallpaper to match at least one of your basses
