1. Hi All, With the imminent arrival of my new custom Dave Hall pre, I have narrowed my search for a power amp down to the xls1000 and GX5. This will be my first pre/power set up and I would appreciate it if any other BC'ers could lend their experiences (pros/cons) of these to help me decide. I will be using a BF Big Baby 2 cab, playing a passive wawrick corvette. I have to say that I am leaning more towards the GX5 as I think it would be more versatile in terms of future expanding of the rig and realise to achieve the same output power I would need to run the xls1000 in bridge mode. Many Thanks Gui
2. Hi all, Does anyone know where I can get some dust covers for 1/4" jack connections. Cheers Gui.
3. Hi Paulie, I would take a look at Crown, QSC and crest as the top 3 contenders, all do lightweight well built power amps. Cheers
4. Good news.... Hope you have a great gig. Cheers Gui.
5. Hi, The venue itself will need to have either a premises licence or a temporary event notice in place, which ever is being used it will need to state public entertainment as part of it. If it does then it will be licenced to do this 'licensable activity' between certain hours. The old 'oh you can only play as a duo' doesn't stand any more under the licensing act 2003. If they have applied for a temporary event notice and expressly stated a duo or acoustic type act then the police licensing offers can enforce that under the regulation, however it is also stated in the act that it is the responsibility of either the designated premises supervisor (under a premises licence) or 'premises user' (under the temporary event notice) to ensure that all is above board and therefore no blame can be apportioned to the performers if the licensable activities that have been applied for/ agreed to are breached. If you do go down there tomorrow, then ask to see either the premises licence summary (should be on display behind the bar) or a copy of the temporary events notice that the organisers will have to have submitted to the local licensing authority including any subsequent correspondence from the police which may detail any amendments to the original application for the event. Both of these will say what they are and are not licensed to do. Drop me a PM if you have any questions once you've seen them. Cheers Gui.
6. I'm definitely in the love'em camp, My corvette std has been my main bass for the past 13 years now, despite owning several other basses (J's and P's) during this time, I have always come back to the vette. I find it comfortable both seated and with strap, well built and with much better access to the 'dusty' end of the neck than anything else I have tried. I can certainly see why warwicks don't appeal to some, as certain body designs don't to me either but as with anything it is subjective and if your going to spend your money on something then it'll be on the one you like the most.
7. You can get these from guitarguitar in the UK www.guitarguitar.co.uk should be listed under products audio/PAUL section, I think they ship out to Europe too. Hope this helps. Gui.
8. Hi, Do you still have this? If so could you post some pics please. Cheers Gui
9. Cheers guys, I am swaying towards the RPM in all honesty, I heard a clip of the BBE on YouTube and although it did have a lovely deep and warm tone, it really didn't seem able to dirty up a little when the gain was driven even to max. So I guess my next question would be can the RPM do clean as well as overdriven tones????
10. Hi All, I'm torn between these two preamps, I play mostly blues, rock and funk. If anyone could give me some opinions and or experiences as to whether these would suit my needs as I won't be able to try these before I buy. Thanks in advance Gui.
11. Hi W11ATO, Try this link, http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=bass And this explanation from a talkbass forum member, Way back in the dark ages when music was first being discovered and defined. There was this famous singer in Italy, Leonardo L. Bassus (that became Basso, once the italiand stopped speaking latin). He had a voice that the likes of most Europeans had never heard He could cover the E flat in the lower stave all the way up through the F above middle C. his voice was so deep, and so hip that a guitar makerbuilt an instrument to duplicate Leonardo's voice. cheers Gui.
12. How random rmorris, Reading your signature, my old set up was the opposite of yours with the jubilee head into old TE cabs! Subsequently got an AH500 head to match the cabs, well at least brand wise. I believe that the speakers were celestion made. Probably gonna throw the jubilee head on the for sale section here at some point. Cheers Gui
13. Hi Molan, Thanks for the info, I'll check with BassGear. Cheers Gui
14. Hi All, Does anyone know where I might be able lay my hands on a micro power amp, such as an SWR Amplite or Demeter Minnie 800D in the UK?? Or could anyone recommend someone who could build something similar as a custom job?? Cheers Gui.

16. Hi All, Just wondering if anyone out there can tell me a little bit out these amps, I have had one (600w version) sat in the attic unused for many many years now. Was thinking of getting rid at some point but really don't know if it's worth keeping instead. Any info or previous experience with these would be appreciated. Cheers Gui.
17. Oh my! Been using trace since I started, and this is one of the nicest looking, sounding and versatile setups. Shame I'm not in the market for it, but free bump for you sir.

PJB B-200

Hi All, Does anyone have any info on these, looking at the Phil Jones website there is no mention of them and the bass direct site only has them shown as "new" but no info. Any help would be appreciated as I am thinking of getting a PJB 'bass buddy' and I'm looking at micro power amps that would work with it, in which case other suggestions would be of help. Thanks in advance Gui.
19. Welcome Emily, Nice to see another local low-ender on the site!
