1. To hear about the blow out mate, hope it doesn't send you bankrupt! Bump
2. Cheers Marcus, It is lovely, just too much for my needs nowadays.... Come on there must be some love for the older trace gear,......offers welcome.
3. Cheers gents, Much appreciated, will do my best to get to the both.
4. Nice one mate, Brolly already packed.......
5. Hi Ellie, Like you I have always used rotosound on my corvette, but recently went with a set of D'addario pro steels as the 'vette sounded great with the brightness of new swing 66's and I wanted that to last. So far so good, have still got that bright zing and they are ubber clear, to the point where my fretting has become more accurate.
6. Hi All, I'm based in liverpool where we have naff all in the way of decent music shops that will stock any kind of higher end gear (gk, Aguilar, swr, markbass etc etc) although they will order gear in for you, but only if your buying giving little opportunity to try anything out first But I will be taking the missus for a long weekend in Edinburgh fairly soon and as she is the understanding sort, doesn't mind me spending sometime in the hunt for new gear...... So my question is are there any good quality music shops in Edinburgh and if so where are they?? Thanks in advance guys. Gui.
7. No worries mate, Lovely gear at a great price, BTTT
8. Hi Ben, Would you be interested in cab trades? I have 2 pre-gibson Trace 1048's....(listed on the site as trace amp and cabs) Also based on the wirral if you would like to check them out, just drop me a PM. Cheers bud.
9. Hey Bluejay, Reading through this thread has put a proper little smile on my face..... I guess somethings just restore faith in the humanity of others. Happy anniversary!
10. Not breaking the 36 hour bumping rule bump! Is there really no love for these great set-ups????
11. Cheers for the offer mate, but I'm based on the wirral so just a tad out of the way, will have to see if I can find a shop with one, not that we have many decent retailers up this way......
12. It is quite epically small,....(ooh err) Was thinking of getting a BF super 12 and was looking for a suitably small (in size) head to drive it. Was thinking either headlite or maybe an EA micro?? Just need to sell the current gear to raise some funds now. Hope you sort out the poweramp.
13. I get it now, Just read a review and that is the way the writer described the setup, definitely not too clear from their description.
14. No worries, Although this what is on the swr site about the headlite The legendary SWR® tube preamplifier meets Class D power amp technology in this groundbreaking new product! The SWR headlite™ is a 3.8 pound (1.7 kg), 400 watt dynamo that delivers the tonal clarity SWR amps are famous for, as well as an astonishingly thunderous low-end response for such a diminutive package. But don't let the size fool you - this is a fullfeatured professional quality bass amplifier! Ideal as a stand-alone amp in a head/speaker rig or partnered with the amplite™ - a matching 400-watt power amplifier - in a multiple power amp rig, the headlite is an extremely versatile performance tool for stage or studio. The headlite includes a handy accessory bag designed for a headlite, an amplite and all the necessary cables €€œ or it can be rack-mounted in 1/2 rack space with the optional rack-mount kit However there is always the markbass mb1000 power amp, 1000w @ 8ohms (bridged).
15. I may be wrong on this, but don't swr do an amplite that can run with the headlite? I think the amplite is 400w also, so it should give you 800w total. Also the barefaced cabs use really high sensitivity drivers so it won't take as much wattage as you would think to drive them properly. Check out their website as the do publish the tech data and provide a recommend amp power value ie between 150-1200w as opposed to a rating for the cab itself.
16. If it's only home practice, I would certainly look at a barefaced midget (or 2) or EA wizzy 10 or 12. Both will do the lows, and will hold their own should you need to rehearse with others, and they can be added onto later should you need to gig. Amp wise, I hear a lot of good things about genz benz streamliners with the barefaced cabs (tube pre, class D power stages) but I guess that would really be your own preference in tone etc, as the cabs are really uncoloured giveing a very flat eq, clear sound.
17. Interesting that you say you replaced it with the shuttle/streamliner as I have heard of others taking these choices over the iamp, and also that it didn't live up to the suggested power rating. How are these working out with your BF cabs? Was also thinking of the GK800mb??
18. Cheers guys, Was thinking of getting one of these and a barefaced super 12T, as the clean sound is what I'm after. Was a little worried that the iamp might be somewhat under powered.
