1. I love distortion, but there are so many different ways to get a cool distorted tone. I always use blending because without that the tone lacks "punch" imo. I guess that's the distortion taking away from the attack.
2.
It has a line out and a DI socket - he used the line out as he only had jack plug leads.
The master volume knob shouldn't affect the line-out level. Only the input volume knob will affect this.
3. IMO you don't need an audio interface. Take the FX send or pre-amp out or DI output and put it into the line in on your mac. On board soundcards are in general not great, but people do wibble on about Macs and how great the hardware is. Either way, if you're just looking to mess about for fun, do this until you get frustrated with your soundcard. This is likely to happen when you want to monitor your bass through VST effects and stuff, which you won't be able to do as there will be a time lapse (latency). However, using your amp as a DI box AND studio monitor means you can mute the channel you're recording and just play along with the drum loops, listening through your amp.
4. Just don't get all wound up about it.
5. Your amp should have a line out, or DI out, or pre-amp out, or something, that the soundman uses to DI your bass from the pre-amp to the desk. If not, he needs a DI box which you put before your amp in the chain. Unless he's micing your amp, he doesn't need to mess with the output volume on your amp. The output on the amp is YOUR level. The fader on the mixer is HIS level. Not sure if i've explained that properly but yeh, i'd never run an amp head at max volume.
6. You don't NEED a VSTi because there are some standard MIDI sounds built into windows (or standard soundcards, not sure). You do have to set an output for your MIDI channel.
7. Nope. I should have included that in my "list of things the tech support operative MAKES you do". Can you please un plug the power plug, and leave it un-plugged for 60 seconds sir I've already re-set it! Since I asked you to? No! Well I need you to un-plug it for 60 seconds now sir. WHY!?!?!? WHY!?!?!?!
8. What's the number for basschat tech support?
9. I don't think a B2 will have the same sort of looping capabilities. It's more of a general multi effect processor.
10. I turned off the fire fox, took out the battery, left it for 60 seconds, then replaced the battery and re-booted the fire fox. It's still doing it. I also tried with the big blue e and that does the same.

Boss GTB-6

No, but like I say maybe I was doing something wrong.
12. Heh, I forgot it was such a long term project!

Boss GTB-6

I found the interface to be frustrating, but the sounds quite good. I couldn't use it because of the tiny silence in between patch changes. I don't know if they all do this or if I was doing something wrong, but I couldn't stand those gaps.
14. I'm using FF 3.5.7 and it's been happening since Monday morning (I only come on at work).
15. Lol, MrsT how do you wremember these things!?! It's really starting to piss me off now. (the tech problem, not MrsT's memory) I keep going to browse to the top level at the top left and the damn link's in the middle!
16. I should hope not!! (I thought someone else did the coding)
17. The links at the top to take you to the different levels of the forum keep jumping around, as do the google ads. What's going on!?
18. I might be confused, but you fitted out a mini-kitchen even though you're going to rip it out when the other kitchen's ready!??! It probably makes sense, but I hate doing work that I know will be un-done!
19. That's 'cos it has a fiendish EQ section with low control. I saw one of these sets on Ebay a while ago and was rather tempted. No cash now though, but i'd love the jackhammer and echohead.
20. there's nothing that good on the album in terms of bass lines or playing IMO. Certainly, the riffs groove, but compared to some of Homme's earlier work, the sound and composition is not "heavy" as in "heavy metal". It sounds more like "rock 'n' roll" than "heavy rock" or "stoner rock" or "grunge" or whatever he used to do. I'm not saying that album's sh*t, it's just it could have done with some re-arrangement IMO.
21. I think the album sounds like it could have done with a producer. I don't know if anyone's credited with that role, but eugh it wears thin.
22.
soft as sh*t
As opposed to...? There's nothing heavy on that album.
23. I have a schecter 6 which I love. There's one (if it's not sold) for sale here for £275 which is an absolute bargain!
24. I've seen big HH PA heads with 15" cabs for £100 before. That'd more than suit your needs! Have a look in your local shops. I reckon on a budget, brand should be the last thing on your mind. You just want as powerful as possible for as little money.
