I saw a band dressed as man-wolves. It was highly amusing and certainly memorable.

I've never thought of doing it off stage before. We always tried to coordinate and wore(sp?) the same home-made shirts and stuff.

You could run your clean bass into one side, keeping the peaks down, then run your pedal board with at least 4 distortion pedals (you do have one, right?) into the other side, and compress it. Then blend them together or bi-amp it for maximum bite and punch.

Someone said that "bassists in general know what they're doing with gear" - that's really not the case. I've had some total retards use my bass amp. I've also found that no matter how loud and clearly you tell them how to use it, they will ignore what you've said. I let people use my rig, but only because I know it has protection in so it'll cut out on them before it dies. Not as attractive on the google image search as on the film. I thought it was funny when MJ was trying to get her to do a cheesey Wild Stallions widdly widdly weeeeooooooo and she just kept shredding.

I think the MXR is fine with active or passive basses, but not sure. I doubt you'd notice a difference.

Just in case anyone's actually interested, i've done a screen shot of the page. The titles are to the right of the ads, rather than being below and to the left. No amount of cache clearing, uninstalling and reinstalling, re-booting, downgrading, upgrading, getting the latest bullshit off the manufacturers, leaving the computer off for 60 thousand infinity hours, or kicking has fixed it.

your mic input is for the onboard soundcard. You want to use an interface instead of the on board sound card, so you get an interface with an input on it, and plug that in via USB or firewire. If you just want something as cheap as possible I think behringer do a USB one.

If it works, post your diagram for us! I could do with the same box.

So, the fuzz face sees a passive signal, but the clean signal is buffered after the split, and the return from the pedal is buffered.

If you put a buffer on the clean signal, but after the send, it should work. So you have input, split into clean and send, then buffer the clean after the send, and buffer the return, and blend the two.

It seems like he had a lot of history with MJ and the Jacksons? I'm not saying the guy's a crap drummer (although that is how I worded my opinion) i'm just saying I personally don't like the drumming on the majority of the songs on "This is it". Whether or not someone "get's it" is obviously subjective. Like I said i'd have to watch it again to articulate my opinion better, it's just the only reason I watched the damn film was because I was hoping for some sort of mind-blowingly groovy rythm section and I was a bit dissapointed. MJ's surprisingly energetic performance more than made up for that though.

Yeh I thought the drummer was crap (better than me but not really "feeling it"). I had a problem with the sub level being too high. I don't know if that was just my system...? It was entertaining but I really wanted to skip some songs, which I guess you can do if you pay for the DVD.

I wouldn't start smoking weed infront of someone I didn't know without warning them or scoping them out about it. That's pretty rude. Someone people would feel really awkward about it. Having said that, I went to an audition and got really stoned with a band. It went pretty well.

I always have a clean blend with my effect board. I always have limiting on on the board. 90% of the time I use some distortion blended with compressed clean. I bought distortion pedals because I loved muse. I started using compression and blending after experimenting in the studio. I took it a bit further by adding EQ pedals and boost pedals to alter the level/tone in songs as I had done in the studio with the computer IE more low end in choruses, mid boost in riffs etc. My favorite effect is probably wah!

I used to get people asking about the 6 string bass and the huge pedalboard, but that's 'cos they're unusual. I have on occasion checked out gear, or asked about gear, but only when i've heard it first and become interested that way.
