POD X3 LIVE

Thanks for that great description. I have been looking at these and was wondering if they are worth the money? I need to have a go on one but you have given me an good insight into it's worth Thanks again, Blademan

3. Copyright (music, written word and any IP) is automatic. Lodged with a solicitor and date stamped is the most secure way. However, with music / written word, you can suddenly be accused of infringing someone else's copyright! I did have this, with something I put up on myspace. The Rolling Stone's representitive contacted me and said the riff was stolen from Honky Tonk Women! (Probably was subconciously) lol. Get your CD (or whatever media you have) and lodge it with a solicitor (costs a few pounds a year upkeep) and then send it out. If you hear your stuff later on, the solicitor will then verify it came from you. The court case (think Pink Floyd) can last years! Hope that helps.........
4. I've been playing guitar for around 30 years but the bass only a year or so. High's for bass was the first paid gig! No low's on bass yet but plenty on guitar! Capo on wrong fret etc
5. It has only happened once to me and we just got into a groove of drum and bass The guitarist can change strings pretty quick A bit of banter with the punters and off we go!
6. Congratulations! Here's to many great gigs
7.
They're great! I can't argue with the above experiences if that's what people have had. However I'm on my 11th/12th Rick (I can never remember) and I've had less problems with them than any other make bar Alembic (not one problem with them!). I've had far more problems with Status (1 twisted neck, 3 x dodgy electronics), Fender (neck needed replacing from new), Wal (twisted neck) etc, & even some of my boutiques. Only had one 4003 though; a 4003s8 (I had no tuning problems with mine BTW). Never had tail lift but I use 40-95 strings. I also favour '72 4001 or earlier basses which have the aluminium tailpiece which doesn't generally suffer from it (and I have a straight neck and very low action which helps a bit). The only issues I have had were on an old 21 fretter where I couldn't get the action low enough and on my old '72 where a fairly well-known guitar builder (well, someone who worked for him) knackered my truss-rods due to not knowing how to adjust them. I had John Diggins replace them. FWIW (people must be bored of this by now) my main '72 4001 is still my go-to bass, leaving 30-odd others of all denominations in its wake, and I took my recently bought back-up '72 to the Gallery on Thursday for a little bit of work and vastly preferred it to anything I played in there (and I played some juicy stuff). Of course, YMMV. To be honest I'm finding these days that most other stuff I play I just don't like much anymore.
Thanks You have restored my faith in the Ric fan club! I still want one........
8. I think the mix is great because you can really hear the bass line. It's not muddy or distorted (for a live performance). Great track! EDIT: No, I don't know what the bass is, sorry!
9.
My first ever "Bitsa"? It will probably be with me for ever! Thanks for the kind comments though.
And so they should! You must be very proud, I know I would be. Good job and I hope they give you many hours of gigging joy!
10. If you feel like parting with the fretless then can you give me a chance to buy it? Cheeky I know, but you have to try! Great looking basses
11.
I've knocked lumps out of all my basses and never come up with a half-decent bassline, so you're well ahead of me
+1 Plenty of knocks not a lot of original basslines
12.
Coda have them at the same price and I very nearly bought one last week. Glad I tried it first, because as I'm a fatty it was VERY uncomfortable to play!
Ah well, that just got rid of any GAS for me
13. Welcome aboard You will soon be gassing like the rest of us!
14. I was looking into getting a 4003......... I still love the shape etc but am a little perturbed by the lack of Ric fans jumping in and telling us they are great!
15. Really enjoyed the lesson, thanks for posting.
16. I tested the 50w against the 100w and found the 50w had better tone and a clearer bass sound. The 100w seemed (to me) to get a bit muddy. I love Orange stuff and this is just IMHO but I bought the 50w and have been as happy as one can be with a cheap light combo. The Ashdown stuff is heavy (I tried one in PMT Oxford) and although it sounded good, it was a big lump to carry around. The Orange won the day! EDIT: The Orange has a line out so you can go straight into a PA if required
17. If you can stratch to £170 then the Orange Crush 50w bass combo is superb. I have one both for practice and pub gigs. If you run out of steam, it has a line out to put it through the PA. It also has a built it tuner! You might be able to get one second hand for less. I think mine is great and I have yet to find anything at that price which sounds as good!
18.
Is playing upstrokes on the downbeat considered wrong? Personally,as long as you're playing the notes I don't think it matters.
When I saw that you had answered, I eagerly read the thread! That answer is a bit disapointing I really thought that you would supply a technical answer I could ponder on all weekend I do agree with you however!
19. I run the Em Pentatonic scale up the neck (starting with open E to the G on at the 24th 'fret' on my fretless ) I then do a piece I have written myself in 'C' as it uses all the basses range. (I do similar on my acoustic guitar but with a few more string bends lol)
20.
Class! And quite right too! I guess my first post came out a bit abrupt, but I sand by what I said. IMO listening is the most important skill any musician can have. It will stand you in good stead whether you need to work out parts for a covers band or are writing original music.
I just keep hitting a few notes until the guitarist gets it
21.
Don't care what it is, it looks gorgeous to me . Thank God it's not in Britain or I would be in trouble again!
^ this
22.
I've found a tiny little 1W amp from Maplin for a fiver or so... Any thoughts?
I bought one of those Maplin amps and put it in a project box. I wired it centre -ve so I could use my std boss power supply. It was great for using it at work. You could easily embed it behind a scratch plate. If you are at work, better go down the psu route instead of batteries. Headphones and you are done! Since getting a Korg, I use the amp as an in ear monitor, taking a feed from the mixing desk
