1. Are you in anyway affiliated with John East? You seem to mention John East a lot. The usage of John East in such proliferation, leads me to think that you may be a John East affiliate. This John East obsession is just too much. John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East John East anyway, who is John East?
Trade for my Caps Lock Key? John East may actually use a similar Caps Lock Key. My reference to JE's Caps Lock Key is for reference only. It is not JE's Caps Lock Key and doesn't look the same but will fit the same. JE will have a Caps Lock Key and the only difference is the lack of a white position marker and the writing is more pronounced on [s]these knobs[/s] ... er ... I mean, this Caps Lock Key. My Caps Lock Key is brand new and has been in it's packet for 3 months... but if you politely pull me up on my John East name-dropping naughtiness, I may just let it slip to being used on a keyboard to add weight to my theory that mine and Jonh East's Caps Lock Key is very similar indeed. Hmmm, so I guess strictly speaking it isn't brand new.... and I don't know why I told you about the packet either. Please don't think that by me mentioning the aspirational John East so many times in one post that I am elevating the stature of my run of the mill Caps Lock Key which has nothing to do with John East what so ever. I could just as well have cited the even more aspirational Fodera as I imagine they have stacked Caps Lock Keys on their keyboards too and in general they all sort of fit anyway so I'm probably right. See also my sale for a set of Fiat Uno wheels they fit onto hubs on an axle.... much like Maserati ones do. I once saw some Maserati wheels and the real differences between these and them is minimal... actually they are completely different in most respects but what the hell they both prevent the vehicle from scraping it's ass on the ground in much the same way so you'll probably never notice the difference. Probably. P.S. John East.
2. Shouldn't this be in the for sale section?
3. I would have one...... I would prefer a cheaper price tag
4. Is there another reason? Do you even need a reason? Go on, buy it, you know you want to
5. Bump 14 watchers on eBay Will anyone take the plunge?
6. Do the Neon's suffer the same? I fancy some orange ones on my Jazz
7. I once turned up at an acoustic gig with my Violin bass instead of the fretless. It was awful I always check now
8.
Having frequented this forum for a while now, I don't think I understand it myself anymore. Perhaps I should think about getting a J-bass as well, though judging from all the bass GASsing on here it would likely be the start of a very slippery slope!
Yep I have sold all but three guitars! I now have four basses and three bass amps! I was a guitarist until a year ago! GAS is now a major concern to me........
9.
Interesting. Is there that much difference? (You might guess that I only own one bass, sad though that may be).
What, one bass I er don't understand.......
10.
So, how long before we see a load of badly sprayed P-bass copies with wonky shaped headstocks on eBay as "custom build"?
I working on one right now. Will be in my uncles loft, just before going on the bay
11. The reason I did it was because the neck pickup was a single coil and the bridge, although a humbucker, could be split. It cured the 'slight' hum when messing with the push / pull pots and splitting the coils etc. Probably could have lived with it but I did a lot of recording with the guitar and it came through.
12. +1 on the floating thumb. OR just be flash and only play on the D & G strings..... (you did say you were a guitarist )
13. Yes it would. A cheap alternative. Maplin do a system for £24.99 (here)
14.
Thanks for that. Is it worth checking the consumption of both units? I am thinking that it can't be too tricky and that mixing and matching stuff is perfectly ok as you can buy all these daisy chain leads for using many pedals together.
Yes, check consumption. If the supply is rated at say 500mA and both units draw 300mA then the unit will be flat out and not work correctly. (It will probably burn out in the end too). A power brick usually has one amp (1000mA) so power to spare and will run loads of pedals.
15. I had it with a pedal. It was a Vox satriani wah pedal. I got quite upset at the time as I had won it for £30 I have since got another one but it cost £70...... I think that it was just a con and the guy sold it too cheap.
16.
Haha, nice one mate. Did you have good results?
Very good and well worth the effort. It got rid of any hum or noise. Just ensure you solder a wire from a pot can (or socket body) to the copper. Job done
17. Welcome aboard Yes very addictive (I've already got to 800 posts and I only joined at xmas )
18. Indeed You should be ok with a full sheet. I used copper tape (over lapping as I went). It was easy to apply like that.
19. I did it to a guitar once. It didn't have a pick guard. It will only work if you shield everything and add an earth strap to the copper. It depends on how big your cavity is
20. Bump 11 watchers on eBay...... I bet they are all BCer's lol
21. They look really good value I too have played a Rock Bass fretted version. Great price and well worth the money
22. I use a guitar to get the chord progression. Then lay down the bass. Then re-record the guitar. But I learned to play the guitar first. I agree with the graph above!
23. Do you mean that your wedding gigs are your sole income? That is very cool Do a bit of teaching and some session work to keep creative... Envious me? lol
24. That is good to know. I think Orange kit is really solid. Nice to know the after sales service is good too
25. Post pics! I am thinking of doing the same with my 5 string
