1. Lakland? B strings love a 35" neck
2.
and I'm going to Matamp tomorrow to get my gt200... so excited!
Awesome! Sounds like a niiice rig - that blue stack looks ace as well! Pictures ASAP please
3.
Garry, this makes me even more proud and pleased to be a Warwick player.
+1! And darn it, I'd only just convinced myself that I don't need a Streamer. But I guess we all have an obligation to help save the environment,,, Seriously though, really impressed! Despite the price-hike I think the new Warwicks are great value considering what I've just read. I dread to think of the conditions under which half my clothes were probably made, so knowing that these basses are put together properly under these regulations makes me very proud to play my Corvette! Nice one, Warwick
4.
Well maybe. A line input, rather than an instrument input, is normally fairly low impedance - around 20Kohms. For an active bass it probably won't matter, but it will affect the tone on a passive. The load on the pickups is likely to cause a loss of highs.
Ahh fair point. My Warwick (and the Jazz I had before that) is active - I'd never thought about it...
5.
They only hang out with you because it makes them look clever!
Ha! Well, I mean, I did study for two years and get some pretty good GCSEs, not to mention these prestigious A-levels, so I do know what I'm talking about
6.
Not like those asshole children who think that because they've been to university and got a degree they're a bit 'special'.
Hey now, some of those people are my friends!
7. Well it is a little bit geeky tbh As the already established gear-geek I used to get the jokes all the time. Until our guitarist acquired his new guitar through me/Basschat. And then the other guitarist acquired his new amp through me/Basschat. Amongst other items bought for awesome prices for our band, not to mention great advice, wealth of knowledge and general good times. Now the whole band's on here, mostly stalking the 'Other Musical Stuff'. My friend even has a crush on Ped after I showed her the uber-cool polos. I sincerely hope you band lot all see this and yes we're all getting Basschat shirts and stickers to be proudly displayed at our next gig.
8. However I've used the silver Behringers loads all over the place and every time they've just worked. Can't really go wrong! Who's to argue for the price?
9.
What sort of mixer? Likely at smallpub level you could just go straight into a mixer amp without the need for DI.
+1! If the mixer's close enough just plonk yer lead into a line-in, set the gain and off you go I don't think you'd really need a DI unless the desk is some distance away/only has XLR inputs. Doesn't sound like an amp no, but just play around with your tone controls a bit and it'll sound fine. When I'm doing little jobs in the studio I just go straight into the desk - sounds fine
10.
This..?
Now if only drummers could ride bikes... ours managed to forget his kit yesterday, bless him. Looking in local van hire - thinking a crew cabin for a day can't be too expensive With any luck I'll be on the road sooner rather than later too! Thanks for all the advice chaps!
11.
learn to drive? Your going to have to do it at some point so why not now. During sixth form is the best time to do it because if you plan on going to university, you will have NO money. You don't realise how crap bills and rent is until you start paying them. Even guys i know that have gone to uni with thousands of pounds spend it in 3 months.
I'm in my last 4 weeks of sixth form so definitely eager to start learning. The main issue is affording the car and the insurance/petrol/upkeep afterwards - insurance companies are particularly brutal at my age!
12.
This... ...cost 1500 €, seats up to 8 (or 5 with full band gear, including FOH...), normal drivers licence, 10 litres/100 kms. No power steering, so not for wimps, but fun 'on the road again'.
I suppose we could save up some gig money - there's not much cooler than a band-van
13.
You have a Barefaced cab. Introduce a weight limit per band member based on the weight of all yours.
They're pretty good in terms of gear actually - the kit is only a small five-piece jazz set-up and the guitarists use pretty manageable valve combos with only one guitar each and very few pedals
14. Thanks for all the replies guys! I'll send this thread to the band and we'll talk it over at the rehearsal tonight Looks like getting hold of a van is the trending option - whilst a trailer would work pretty well there isn't always the parking space at some of the smaller venues
15. Hi! My band's just started getting gigs outside of our home town - we're a five-piece with drums, bass, two guitars and vocals - and yesterday we had two gigs outside of Lincoln So we had to pack the whole lot (band members included!) into one little Skoda Fabia. Yep, we're all pretty young - mostly in sixth-form (16/17/18) with the exception of the 22 year-old guitarist who owns the car! Obviously packing was a bit of a mission and since the bass amp wasn't going to fit I had to DI - but mostly I was concerned about the welfare of all our hard-earned gear being squashed and the safety implications of driving on a motorway with piles of guitars on our laps - hardcases aren't quite the same as airbags! So I was wondering how you guys get around? We've talked through a few options like hiring a van/hiring a trailer/buying a roof-mounted carrier thing but we're pretty stuck! Cheers
16. Hmm. I think a global competition is perhaps a bit too big. Maybe for the next competition you could offer a 4-string Streamer LX, but only applicable to those living in Hartsholme, Lincoln, UK? Not that I'm biased or anything Why are people complaining about being offered a free bass? Must be desperate to let off some steam what with the sudden tropical weather. Warwick Official seems like a cool guy.
17. Just returned home from Grantham having picked up Richard's flight-case which he gave away for free! What an awesome guy Thanks again!
18. I've got a friend who'll likely be very interested in these! Can I call dibs?
19. Sad news guys! I've had to cancel the order - it's been over six months now and since my previous amp broke and has now been moved on I'm having to survive on borrowed gear, which isn't ideal - I gave them an ultimatum of the end of May for something to try out but unfortunately they said couldn't meet that deadline. I've got rehearsals starting in June for some relatively big gigs in the summer so I'd need a rig by then. Hayden said they were having some complications with ordering in some new modules, and that he'd been anticipating the phone call for a while, so no issues - he even pointed me in the direction of the Orange Terror Bass 500! I've now ordered a Barefaced Compact and bought the amp my good friend (Unklellis on here) has been lending me - an Ampeg PF-500. No valves or fancy stuff, but it just works well, has all the right features and is nice and compact! So all in all still gutted the Matamp didn't work out but happy with my new rig, which should be arriving soon Just to make sure: Matamp have been great throughout, it's just due to the nature of my specific order they weren't able to build it in time. Next time I upgrade my rig I'll probably come back to these guys!
20. I'm using a PF500 at the moment and, well, it's pretty good. It sounds very Ampeg. Which is great if you want the Ampeg sound - but no matter how much EQing I tried I couldn't get rid of that underlying character, if you get what I mean... But guys, c'mon. It has a cool little purple light
21. [s]Ah rubbish, the guitard's joined Basschat, I'm going to have to watch what I say now...[/s] Hey buddy! Great rehearsal yesterday - your new Hot Rod rocked
22. My band notices if I bring a new cable to a rehearsal, never-mind a new bass Although I only really get comments on sound if it's: a- really really good for some reason b- needs changing for some reason
23. I'd like to second Honest Guy's feedback here! I PM'd Luke about the amp for Honest Guy before he joined the site - great communication
24. A good TRB won't let you down! I'm a Warwick guy and their 6-string stuff is really cool too Major GAS for this one!
