Just saw this! Looks genuine, is there a reason it's only at £510 with less than a day to go? Cheaper than buying a Roadworn
Yeah, ideally a fender blues junior... or something of that ilk.... now imagine that I have very little money and am currently putting it through my bass amp
Well to be fair I've run guitars through bass amps before, and although it's not ideal if you EQ it right it can sound pretty good Blues Junior are a good standard yep, but not cheap! -
okay, you can't have it then! What's the best bet to learn with? get a cheapy cheapy amp, or some kinda Pod thing?
fair enough! Well I'm lucky in that both my older brothers are guitarists so I've just ended up with some of their old stuff really! In my experience though getting a decent small amp beats a cheap 'pod' - the higher-end Line 6 etc stuff is ace but the cheap stuff is all compressed and nasty, and if you're learning you don't really want a multitude of effects, just a nice clean/dirty sound. Blackstar for example do some great little valve amps for not too much at all - my guitarist has the HT5, which is really nice and only around £250, or the HT1 is only £160ish and all sounds great http://www.blackstaramps.co.uk/products/ht-1/ Anyhow, I reckon a low-wattage valve combo would be cool - there's a thread for them in the 'Other Instruments' section I think! -
shall I just lean to play it?
Not a bad shout - I'm not in any way fantastic at guitar but I can get a sound out of it and it's fun to play at chilled acoustic-y gigs and such Me and my band are all over this guitar, but we're trying to stick to priorities budget-wise! -
How's the hybrid coming along? Seem to be still having niggles with the micro amp.
Last I heard of the hybrid Hayden had managed to match the levels and get it working - just working on the sound, so it shouldn't be long now Haven't heard anything else on the class d amps, but I'll make sure to check them out next time I go down!

Just swapped my amp for one of Will's basses! Great guy, nice and easy transaction and the bass is in perfect condition - what more could you ask for? Cheers!

Is a bass more aesthetically pleasing than a guitar?
But look how much body is behind the bridge. What's it actually doing? It's just being there- along for the ride.
It's a sound board - the vibration of the string is travels through the bridge and makes it vibrate on the same frequency. Because it has a larger surface area it moves more air, which is why you get a louder acoustic sound and that specific semi-hollowbody sound from the pick-ups Either way, I reckon aesthetically it looks very cool! -

Must admit I've got a thing for my friend's old ES-335 at the moment! I think there are too many good/bad examples of each to decide if guitars or basses look better -
Biro? Pfft, I use a vintage Fender quill and inkpot. They got it right the first time. A bit roadworn but not too bad for an all-original - besides it has that unmistakeable classic vintage Fender output. Don't try to fix what isn't broken! Edit: Oh yeah on topic! I use a Warwick 5-string $$ Corvette, a cable that works and a soon-to-arrive Matamp hybrid head and 1x12 cab Plus an old Eko SG with '70s Gibson humbuckers and Bigsby into a poor little Fender Sidekick Reverb That Squire Jazz you have looks ace, a friend of mine has one and it sounds/plays amazing!
in fact, f*** ME!
The world's gone mad hasn't it? I'm holding on to mine!

Worth taking a look at this Warwick? (someone had to do it!) I don't know why they're so cheap second-hand at the moment - they retail for loads more. I play a Corvette too and it rocks! With the spare cash you expand your rig a bit http://basschat.co.uk/topic/170619-warwick-corvette-german-made-mid-90s-l260/page__pid__1574534#entry1574534
I'll have a ponder on this mate. Do you know if there is an output through the headphone socket?
Good news! I plugged in today for the first time in, well, months - and it seems it's just the input that's dodgy. If you find the 'sweet spot' with the cable, as it were, the signal goes in and comes out like your everyday bass amp! Chromatic tuner and headphone out function perfectly well. Blending the distortion in a little with the clean channel plus a bit of octave makes for quite a fat fuzz, I've discovered! -

My old piano teacher had just taken delivery of a new Yamaha grand and I had the honour of being his first student to play it. Unfortunately I hadn't been feeling that well and... Yep. All over the keys. (This was a number of years ago when I was a kid btw! Please don't be put off buying my amp in the for sale section ) -
Post your pictures, Lets see what you all look like.

Jazz bass in the countryside. ...Just realised there was no-where to plug in. -
I've got an old Squier 'Strat' made in China - exactly the same decal except mine says Affinity where yours says Fender. Hasn't been used for years - input jack's gone and the pick-ups aren't aligned very well, especially the neck/middle - but it plays pretty well! Buy a complete strat assembly pickguard (http://www.axesrus.com/pickassy.html or something similar) and it could be a really nice guitar Hope that helps!
Tempted. Could this be couriered, and if so, any idea of the cost?
Sure thing! Although I've not couriered anything before so not sure where to look - are there any companies you'd recommend/avoid? If it helps the dimensions are: 24-1/2” H 24-1/2” W 16-1/2” D 87 lbs Cheers! Edit: If I've done it right, Interparcel quoted me just over £30? -
OK this is a little show off of a title ;-) So I ordered a GT-200 after spending a whole afternoon with Jeff, Hayden, Andrew, and the others... I had brought in my Eden wt-400, my TC RH 450 and my Fender Bassman 100 from 1976... and I am selling the latter as it is no match whatsover! I tested on their 4x10 and 2x12 and this is the best amp I've ever played in. A category on its own. I took the standard, and saw a guitar combo in balck and red and gold and loved it so I went for it! I inquired about a mid-freq-switch like they have on their guitar amps and a different taper on the drive button to be able to dial more subtly in the clean zone... voilà! Speaking of guitar amps, I also ordered a 1224mk2 and two 2x12 for the uni studios that I am in charge of, in sparking blue... My research assistant ( I had to bring 3 guitar players as I was not to shop for that instrument by myself ;-) almost bought one for himself too... all in all, a fantastic day out in Meltham. I'll attach picture when I get the beasts. pa
Nice! Out of interest how did the GT-200 match in terms of versatility with the other amps? Edens especially have pretty powerful EQ IME! Like the sound of sparking blue
