my Fodera Victor Wooten Ying Yang deluxe (surprisingly similar to VWs own/current bass):-
You'd have to be careful buying a full custom from Thomann because the returns policy may be invalid on any sort of custom order - it's buried in the small print of most standard distance selling policies. A lot of the additional costs on a Fodera are fixed so an AJ would be: Base price $20,250 Ag & Fish duties $125 Shipping $300 Total $20,675 U.K. Taxes and duties $4,825 (approx) Total $25,500 Again there's a huge amount of build time in these but the bulk of it is hidden inside the body - the internal bracing is a work of art
Excellent advice/info again B ! Of course, that's just the 'basic' Anthony Jackson Presentation @ $20,250; there's also the Presentation Ti ($22,750) and the Presentation II ($35,000) ... though I have no idea of what the differences (other than prices) might be (... or of ordering one, pending Lottery results)

Bass is almost identical to VW's (although in excellent/mint condition - Victor appears to have lost his truss rod cover and given the body some abuse). Monarch VW Yin Yang deluxe 4 string: Ebony & Pau Amarillo (yellow heart) top; EMG PJs; Ebony fingerboard; Mother of Pearl dot inlays; Walnut body; dob July 28, 2006. comes with either a Mono gig-bag or Hiscox (or similar). these are now only available direct/to-order (only 6pa). It's currently one of the highest priced Fodera's ($12,700 - the standard version is $5050) with only the Anthony Jackson range, Hybrid Custom and YYdlx 5 more expensive. Price includes UK Courier. www.fodera.com http://fodera.com/vi...in-yang-deluxe/ “In 1995, Victor approached us with an idea to have a yin-yang symbol inlaid on a Monarch bass. We then surprised Victor by using the yin-yang symbol to cover the entire front of the bass, instead of a simple inlay! Needless to say, he was thrilled, and now the Victor Wooten Yin-Yang Deluxe is one of our most desired models. The Yin-Yang is also one of the most challenging models for us to build because of the complexity of the many details involved in its design. For example, the top is created from two pieces of wood seamlessly fitted together to create the Yin-Yang symbol that continues onto the end of the fingerboard. As is true with all Fodera basses, the Yin-Yang Deluxe is entirely handcrafted and tailored to the individual needs of the player. Because of the tremendous amount of detail work involved with this model and the fact that it takes as long to build as two "normal" Fodera instruments (without the inlaid Yin Yang symbol), beginning in 2010, the Yin Yang Deluxe became available exclusively on a direct-order basis (no sales through dealers). Our production of these instruments is limited to just six (6) per year -- each bearing a Mother-of-Pearl inlay in the back of its headstock identifying its number in that year's series” Specs for the Victor Wooten Yin Yang Deluxe include: Body Wood Options: Alder Body; Holly / Ebony Top; Yin Yang Top Neck Options: Birdseye Maple / Ebony Fingerboard; 3-pc Maple Neck; Mother-of-Pearl Dot Inlay Construction Options: Dovetail Construction; 34" Scale Length; 4 String Configuration Electronics Options: Fodera / Pope Custom 3-Band Preamp; Fodera Monarch Layout; Fodera / EMG P/J Pickups Standard (bolt-on) model @ US$5050. eubassix replied to Ashborygirl's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
.... leading to it being 'pulled' .. with an apology :- "Thank you for making me aware of the error. I am not an expert on bass guitars and have only ever played for fun. I can assure you that I genuinely had no idea it was a Hohner, and have now removed the listing following your advice............" -
Steinberger XL5..........Or A Hohner - for £1500
eubassix replied to Ashborygirl's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I got a reply (earlier) :- " Hi, No, I did not know that it is not a Steinberger. What make you think it's a copy?...." so have now sent him an edited / anon. copy of these posts -
Tried unsuccesfully to quote/reply above ... didn't work ! Thanks for the +++ comments; Not using 4's much now. If I had the time I'd refin' it - it's a really nice instrument (potentially). Plays great; I'd always 'known' Andy Schack by name/ reputation (instruments and EQ systems), but saw something from NAMM recently with a reference to a Nico Schack (?); was that the recent London BG show Rich? Agree - the tone/s & playability are exceptional; just the aesthetics that aren't great on this one.

Schack (Andy or Nico?) Unique 4 Custom LTD in dark blue (trans). Good overall condition and excellent playability tone-s. Exceptional build quality and with the amazing Schack no-bolt/s neck & BC3P circuit. But realistically the polyester/blue body has a lot of surface marks & buckle rash to both front and back. There's also a paint/surface crack by the output jack/pan and some string-wear to the tops of the BassTec (Bartolini) J pickups. This does not affect the bass 'as an instrument' at all - plays and sounds great, but it would be(come) exceptional with a body refin' or maybe taken back to the natural maple (natural bass photos attached to illustrate, although a different wood). Otherwise, an exceptional players bass! Comes with a decent, generic hard case. Free Courier. Features: - Full solid body (2pc) Flamed Maple - Maple - Bubinga - Neck - Ebony Fretboard - 24 Fret and zero fret - 34" Scale - 18.5mm (+- 0.5mm) Spacing - ETS / Schack Bridge - Active Schack (GK) 3 Band Preamp - 2 Basstec (Bartolini) Single Coil PU's - Schaller Security Locks - Gotoh Hardware/Tuner - Weight: 8.5 lbs. Nut width is 1.5" . BC3P Schack 18V on board EQ system. The signal is not coloured in any way, due to the linear response of the circuit. Offers the player a great deal of versatility. Circuit is prewired and easily configurable. -Master Volume -Balance Control (buffered) -Bass (100-300Hz via dip switches) ±15dB -Middle (500-1500Hz via dip switches) ±15dB -Treble (2000-8000Hz via dip switches) ±18dB -Adjustable pickup input gain. *There's a new Schack (Unique 5) review in this months Bass Guitar magazine (pp. 52-54. same neck fitting. £3450!).

Schack (Unique) neck ... how to Remove ?!!
eubassix replied to eubassix's topic in Repairs and Technical
Via the pu cavity David
Thanks Aidan. Additional Q: Andy Schack / Nico Schack ??... I always knew of Andy and had assumed the basses (in addition to the circuits) were built by him. But there seems now to be a NICO Schack connected with the same instruments ?? -
Had this Andy Schack bass for a while and thinking of doing some refin' work (bass is great, but body/finish is messy and the dk-blue covers the one-piece flamed maple). BUT .. how do you remove the bolt-less neck ?!!!
