  1. Okoume (Aucoumea klaineana) Common Name(s): Okoume, gabon Scientific Name: Aucoumea klaineana Distribution: Central Africa (primarily Gabon) The grain patterns can bear a resemblance to mahogany, and one of okoume’s lesser-used commercial names is Gaboon mahogany, though it bears no relation to either .... species is not listed in the CITES Appendices ..... Sometimes simply called gabon or gaboon (not to be confused with Gaboon ebony), the wood is commercially important in the country of Gabon, where it’s the principle timber species. 2. Ibanez Sound Wave 35 SW35 Bass Amplifier Bass Amp (combo) ported.Excellent overall condition for age (see photos) - very little used (home only). Great little unit for practice+. Collection preferred but OK to discuss postage (or meet-up) at buyer's cost). It's loud for a 35w rated unit and has been ported (properly) to add to the overall volume/depth. Features include: gain, bass, mid, treble, prescence, volume; input, 10dB gain, CD input, line-out, limiter, headphones, FX loop (rear). Cab/unit can also be back-angled
  3. SubZero 50W Portable Rechargeable PA System with Wireless Mic, Excellent condition (photos) & complete. The new version is c. £350 (c/w bluetooth) and this original one was £200+ when new. 48 x 40 x 30 cm and c. 17kg. Has handle + castors; and excellent side handles. Mic/s 1 & 2 + Level, Line-in (for aux/phone etc.) + Level, Bass & Treble Boost (EQ), Master Volume. Uses GS12 V7Ah battery (lasts ages but available on ebay etc. if future replacement required). + it's also OK as a portable (or AC/fixed) practice amp (really useful if 'meeting-up' to test a bass)
  4. 8.45lbs (luggage digi-scales) & 41mm (digi-caliper)
  5. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/226062469243 ".... all original condition aside from one nut that is black one one of the tuners, you probably wouldn't have noticed if I didn't mention it. Judging by serial number stamped on the neck plate, it is from October 1988, made in Korea...." Is that (all) correct? ... the ones I've seen previously all had 'westone' (or 'W') branded neckplates & tuners, the knobs were always brass ... and not seen a bridge like this one before.... (?)
  6. Thanks - I'll check those and post/PM asap.
  7. agree totally - that's why it's there (with the bass). It was working fine when the bass was dismantled & refurbished. Possibly an easy re-install for somebody confident / knowledgeable with electronics; I just didn't want to risk when unfortunately the photos I'd taken didn't adequately show all the correct connections.
  8. Thanks bassassin - that's really great & helpful info ! .... nice to see the actual / complete intrument. The neck's very different to the one I received, but good to see that all the body parts/fittings are correct.

  10. update on dimensions:- Overall inner length / width = 119 x 36cm 'body' area = 53 x 34/36 cm neck support section = 41cm headstock area = 25 x 34 cm each storage pocket = 33 x 12 x 5 cm
  11. Peavey Rudy Sarzo fretless 4. Unique, modified.I bought this Peavey 'Rudy Sarzo' ( PV's flagship bass in the late 80's) as a project several years ago but have only recently reconfigured it. It has the original flame maple neck through-body, with nicely figured ash wings (walnut stringers). It was originally finished in the standard maroon stain (translucent) as can still be seen on the lower part of the scalloped headstock ('Sarzo' & 'Peavey') but was stripped off to reveal the quite exotic body woods. The original Peavey gold tuners and Schaller roller 3 way gold adjustable bridge have been replaced (over time) with black tuners (gotoh-type) and quick-release/change bridge (black). It had previous luthier (Thomas Handley) work in fitting a replacement flame maple fretless board to match the body along with the truss rod cover in flame maple. The red & black dot markers are somewhat ott and initially quite confusing, but the black dots denote 'fretline' points and the red dots the usual dot placements on a std. bass. Its been routed for different pickups over the years but currenty fitted are a pair of generic MM type. The electrics had been reduced to a simple Vol-Vol-Tone but I've fitted a simple active (9v) circuit which now has: Volume, Pan (between pickups), and 3EQ (Bass, Mids, Treble boost). Rudy Sarzo (who featured in the God Bless Ozzy Osborne documentary) is is a Cuban American hard rock/heavy metal bassist, best known for his work with Quiet Riot, Ozzy Osbourne, and Whitesnake. I have lots of 'build' photos and have included 2 (final 2) photos of the bass as it would have been originally c. 35 years ago. Really tricky instrument in terms of 'value' (it would have been expensive back in the day)
  12. See photos. Acquired as part of a 'bitsa' bass. Not sure of the body make / origin but it's nicely finished and the neck pocket (63mm wide x 85mm 'length' x 18mm D) will accomodate a standard F-type neck. Body (complete weighs c.6.5lbs) will take a standard J s/plate and bell-plate (photo) but may need some adjustment/s for this. The current plates fit fine and look to have been refinished to fit. The bass played fine with both pickups (unsure of make/age) clear & strong. Upgrade bridge (can be replaced with a more std. F' type if preferred) with individual routs per string. Price includes P & P.
  13. ...still here/available, despiite some positive responses; there's a 5-string (5-inline headstock) just been listed on ebay for a BIN/BO of £1200 :- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/285645402634?hash=item4281caf20a:g:wFgAAOSw8gJlnM~b&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAAwMyTWQosQt74TNtfrfoP%2FRDfXczqmgXKJN7DGWtyOT0wf2qRc316PKUZeaKSS%2FPSsCULOylgJdniufkdppE8IPdq0LxE71d5EX8epJ2xs4Yhslhm2IPVcAmlqZjHZt5bFTbp40%2Fg7UcxCw%2B5Ir4rpHV%2B52MmcR0cVTVdQT6tmprLi6dLVpMUC8LVLxXomvsy4JQmSvSgqTTRm32TOCnokA7TkN5PdmX959W6F%2FhdbodhLp9qxiRM92io3JYoTEVznQ%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR8SfjNqdYw

  15. I think it was always 6750 on ebay ... but with the 'make offer' option; so useful if you know it was listed at £5200 on GT (?). Possibly worth a visit for somebody in the Bedford (collection-only) area.............
  16. same bass still available on ebay :- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/375127447065?hash=item5757569619:g:V3wAAOSwNyplf6Wv&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4CboVjqcPH9p3U8SMwkWiM5sssYpfizIiKTm2LpUrU71t1FX%2FZmlPF5G1pB1A2udhgZ87peKh2Yds6RtP0Rcwqcct%2FsMIjxKq6tM2RBpnCva4LLAtGbtn8TF%2F%2F7wshsQz7K7nVIaAqTQaU8UhLHY0MhcBXfaXULzLElnVkpLyFPsUTcpbpgbV0k%2FQ%2B5lsZnyNe3%2FOXIChtviZgYfEhiGAvXntPUaT5YCIP7hi4I4yaNPpzEKnoIQxe%2BpNdaeAGdUQho67lHOeYHdc%2FjaikslWL%2BIbE2I%2F7lEJRCyKnijFsSk|tkp%3ABk9SR9i9rryTYw
  17. did you manage to find that original bridge?.....
  18. Schack Unique 4 Custom - high-quality 4 string bass from (Andy) Schack. Handmade in Germany. Classic example of German bass building tradition from the 80/90's. Excellent quality incl. selected woods, hardware, craftsmanship, playability and sound. The 'unique'neck = bolt on using unique patented Schack Covered Neck Fixing-System (CNF) Fingerboard: thick ebony, Frets : 24 Headstock : 2 + 2 with ebony top Pickups : 2 Basstec Jazz Bass like humbucking. Electronics: (original Schack BC 3P, active c/w master volume, pickup pan control, 3-way plus highly switchable frequencies and Q-factor for each band is included ) - but currently a more basic Vol - Pan + 3EQ Preamp is fitted : Tuners : Gotoh. Bridge : ETS/Schack Original Schack 3D-adjustable. Strings spacing at bridge : 20 mm (adjustable) Nut : synthetic with zero fret Strings spacing at nut : 11 mm. Scale: 34" - long scale. The bass body was recently stripped, refurbished / refinished by Agrajag Guitars - I do have photo(s) of the original dark blue strange poly-plastic finish that was removed. I'd initially planned to refit the Schack BC-3P ciscuit but it's a bit complex and I failed to get help from Nico Schack. The rear cover isn't as neat as it was (due to the refurb/refinish) so I've added a couple more screws. The BassTec pickups are great but have become quite worn over the years (particularly the neck p/up which has virtually lost its 'basstec' logo). Looks like the Schack Unique range is now back (Nico) with prices from c. €3k. (website)
  19. ... should be fine. I'd be happy to send them for you to try initially.
  20. I think it's the way the system 'works', in that the last comment(er) remains ad infinitum (generally when a thread is 'bumped'). So I'm adding this to hopefully take up the mantle.

  22. Thanks sandy_r - the responses from yourself and BassBunny are really helpful / informative. I'll update with developments asap.
