  1. An excellent cab! Try it portrait and landscape - you'll be surprised how different it sounds. You'll get better horizontal dispersement with the cab being vertical / portrait. Spreads across a stage better.
  2. I think you'll have to email Roland and ask for their proper service and repair centres.
  3. I've got a Rockboard Powerbank XL for that sort of thing. Works well and it can be used while being charged.
  4. Strings Direct is really expensive. I only ever use them if I can't find the strings elsewhere.
  5. I may well swap over to tapewounds and hope for that!
  6. Bass Direct. They might have to order it in, but that's way cheaper than ordering from the USA.
  7. I was aware of nickel allergies in people, but apparently Monel has a far higher content so it can cause symptoms even when normal nickel strings do not. I had a very painful 3 or 4 days when I tried them out. I've put La Bella's on now. They don't sound as nice but they don't hurt either.
  8. bit harsh, and unnecessarily sarcastic. It’s a valid question to ask.
  9. What is nude jazz? I'm wondering if that is what I've been playing in my house for all this time!
  10. Anyone know if the black and white nylons have different tensions / flexibility? I've put some Copper White Nylons on my Sandberg TT4 and I'm liking them. No finger noise but a tone quite similar to a roundwound. Just wondering about the black ones for a different bass. ta
  11. I've put La Bella DTF stainless steel on my shorty, and while I was at it, put some White Copper Nylon tapes on a different bass. No problems at all now.
  12. While I love the sound of Roto flats, it turns out I'm allergic to the Monel wrap used. After only a short playing time they leave my finger tips red and painful.
  13. That’s lovely!
  14. Lowering the pickup solved it. Which is annoying as I wanted to use it for a bit of a ramp. Might have to make a couple of plastic pickup toppers to get the height back!
  15. Mariah is great - especially when I swap the last verse and chorus bass part for a big band walking line.
  16. I will try those things later. Thank you.
  17. I’m getting a warbling almost chorus type sound on my G string when playing above the 12th fret on my shorty p bass. It’s got brand new La Bella DTF on it. Any ideas? It’s quite annoying!
  18. Not that I've heard of. I'd be surprised. The number of possible combinations of cab designs made in the last 50 years must be into the tens of thousands.
  19. I've just put some La Bella deep talking flats on my shorty. Can't wait to give them a proper try. Mind you, at the same time I put some long scale White Copper Nylon Tapes on my Sandberg just out of curiosity and I think I really like them. Might have to look into those for the shorty too - maybe in 10 years when the Deep Talkin's finally need replacing!
  20. Dusty's rig rundown on youtube was interesting. Elwood (when he was still 'just' the tech) pointed out that people are surprised how filthy the bass tone is.
  21. If you have the budget the Boss Waza Air Bass is great. It needs a smart phone and it's wireless. It's headphones with a wireless dongle. Or if you have a smart phone then a cheap interface and a free download of Amplitube is a great option. Bass into interface, that into the phone. Headphones either plug into the phone or the interface depending on what make and model. Amplitube can import from a music library as well and change the speed and pitch of the thing you are playing along to. Amplitube Free comes with a few guitar amps and a nice Ampeg. More models can be bought for a few quid if needed. Or an interface for your PC and any number of free or cheap amp sims. Do you have a budget in mind?
  22. The best headphone approach is the Boss Waza Air system https://www.boss.info/uk/products/waza-air_bass/ It's very clever.
