I believe that the VTC upgrade is no longer available solderless. I certainly had to solder mine; which was straightforward enough, although I also had to add a washer to the volume pot to clear the cut out edge on my Chinese ME, rather than get jiggy with my router. I haven't seen this as an issue on any other forums or the Sadowsky users FB page apart from my post.

I’ll give it go at the next rehearsal

Definitely It gives a much weirder palette if usable sounds, particularly using the bridge pickup.

I would if I had two 2x10s but I don't want to stack the combo on it's end
-
Me too, especially since I fitted a VTC plate

I have the LM2 head in my combo and feel pretty much the same. Are they better than the newer class D ones? I’ve had this setup for quite a long time and often toy with the idea of changing, eg V4B or Handbox valves intrigue me, then I gig this rig and think yep that’ll do. I like what I’ve read and seen about the Cali compressor too.

I imagine it would be good for di recording bass to add a bit of warmth like I do with guitar. I tend to use a pretty clean bass sound live.

I haven't tried it with bass only geetar.

I have a Joyo American Sound guitar pedal. It's really good, I'd be intrigued to try their bass pedals

I used to do this one too in a previous band. Busy bassline isn’t it ? Can’t imagine trying to sing it at the same time. Kudos for that !

Thanks that’s kind of you. The drums on this recording were programmed by the keyboard player too!

This is an album which is part of a project featuring tracks by Derek & the Dominoes,Grateful Dead, Little Feat, The Band and all sorts of other early ‘70s stuff. https://tidal.com/album/291320806 There is also an EP featuring the original instigator of Rootsy Blue, a good drummer friend and long time musical collaborator of mine, whose aim was to put together a collection of the music that he grew up with, for his grandson. https://tidal.com/album/167193116 I’m really pleased with these. BTW I much prefer the quality of the Tidal streams.

That’s a cracking Pino line isn’t it. A few members of a band I used to play with did a lockdown recording with me using a borrowed squire vm fretless, which I really liked. https://on.soundcloud.com/baSTM68H7Qqp1oTs5

That's great, I really enjoyed that thank you. I'm a huge PG and Tony Levin fan and this is one of my favourites tracks from one of my all time favourite albums. I love what you've done with it

Is BC a community, or just a source of information?

This is my experience too -
Thanks WOT. I enjoyed that far more than the new one

I'd certainly endorse these. I had one on a long term loan from a friend for a while and really didn't want to give it back.

Cocteau Twins Lovely stuff, but even if you could decipher the words... I have no idea. -
I filed the fret ends up at the dusty end on mine too, it made a lot of difference. Fortunately my later model JJ 5 string was dead quiet on arrival and sounded great, however I recently fitted the full VTC replacement controls and preamp. Well worth it, I'd highly recommend the upgrade in terms of versatility of usable sounds and taming the hot preamp a little with the tone control. £145 from Bass direct well spent !

Love this album I bought it in the´80s and still have it.

TC Spectracomp for simplicity and subtlety, with the option to get complicated if you want to in the edit settings

My first bass. £30 from Wing Music in Bromley. £449! Wish I’d kept it
