  2. Aye you got me there. πŸ‘
  3. Free if you've never worked a day in your life. 😜 Dave
  4. Vids Daryl, we need vids. Pics just won't satisfy mate. πŸ˜‚ Dave
  5. probably don't have that kind of intelligence πŸ˜‚
  6. what kind of music are you playing. Just curious to hear about others. Dave
  7. Yep always take the positive @Stub Mandrel Hopefully home soon tho. Are you bored or just chilling out while staff run after you. πŸ˜‚ I remember breaking my leg playing footie and loved being in hospital. I had no work to worry about and was able to sit and read motorbike and bass mags all day for a week or so. (Leg was broken in 2 places and pinned) Dave
  8. I always thought it was paid for thru your taxes and NI was for sickness payments and/or pensions. No expert to be fair but i do recall there being a strong sided debate on BC about it and that was one of the points that i took from it. If its been said on BC then it must be true cause this is the Gospel according to bassists. Dave
  9. I didn't realise that. Every day a school day on BC. Dave
  10. How are you today @Stub Mandrel. Back home i hope. Dave
  11. Think you are right but the SE should at least walk around the stage area to make sure the overall balance is right on stage. I know its mainly down to the band to sort out their on stage levels etc but i've experienced ringing on stage that didn't appear out front when i walked out into the venue during a sound check. Luckily that particular SE did walk around the venue and come up to the edge of the stage altho not on it. Dave
  12. I've had some SE's walk all around the venue with their tablet making tweaks and some have walked across the full stage area while we do the sound check so yep that makes sense to me. It is rare tho as most sit at the desk and only hear at that point. Dave
  13. I only heard about them when i heard Jimmy Haslip on Gino Vannelli album Brother to Brother and then heard he played with Yellowjackets. Dave
  14. Nice simple wee bass part there Rob. Think i could manage this one. πŸ˜‚ Quite like some of the Yellowjackets material but some a little too jazz for me. This one was just a nice wee song. Dave
  15. I had assumed you were home. That's where i'm quite lucky ............... there's absolutely nothing in my head 🀐 Hopefully you'll get home soon and back to normal as quick as possible. TBH i've never actually heard of this. I've heard of people getting ear infections and losing balance and feeling sick. Wishing you all the best @Stub Mandrel Dave
  16. For me a good SE listens to my stage sound and recreates that FOH. He should be listening to the full band sound and adjust for that style of music. To be fair Pete normally gets it spot on and is a bass player himself and the issue may be that my stage level was lower than i normally have and i just struggled to hear it on stage. Having listened to some phone clips from different people the bass does sound lower in the mix than i would like. Glam rock from UK in 70's was a lot to do with drums and bass specifically low toms on the drums so it needs to have the correct balance. I appreciate that phones don't capture bass very well so i'm assuming it was a bit louder and deeper in the venue altho my wife who attends every gig did say she struggled to hear the bass at times. She might be picking up on the specific songs where i drop the tone a bit to achieve a deeper sound as normally i like a bit of a click as i play. (think Geddy Lee or the tone you get with a pick) Dave
  17. So what was it ? You mentioned severe positional vertigo but i've never heard of it. What causes it. ? I'm just a nosey old sod and curious as always. Its a bass thing........honest. πŸ˜‚ Dave
  18. Jings that sounds scary. Hope you're now ok. Keep us posted. Dave
  19. I know it might seem boring to post your kit every time but there are so many posts from so many different people that i often can't remember who uses what so i enjoy that little reminder from those that add their gear list in their post. Just adds a little bit extra to a post IMO. Dave
  20. Jings i was just talking to my wife about celebrating our 30th Anniversary with a lobster dinner somewhere if i can find a restaurant that sells them. I do like lobster you lucky sod. Dave
  21. All credit to you for a busy weekend @bassbiscuits Dave
  22. Can't remember what the band is @jezzaboy ? Is yours the ac/dc tribute band ? I think it gets a steady crowd every week but a lot are waiting to the last minute and just paying at the door. If i've got your band right i reckon it should be pretty busy. Just keep in mind schools finish this week in Edinburgh area so might be a few on hols. Dave
  23. Audience probably think that about me anyways πŸ˜‚ Our singers and drummer use IEM's but they seem to have some sort of issues at every gig. Probably cheap IEM systems but its kind of put me off a wee bit but i like the idea of no bass cabs to humph around at gigs. Dave
  24. Blockbustarz Glam covers at The Dreadnought in Bathgate. One of my fav gigs to be honest. Sound check went well and everything sounded great. Then for some weird reason i started to struggle to hear the bass out front. I had deliberately kept my on stage volume low and assumed the SE was on top of FOH. Unfortunately i spoke with my wife at the end and she said she struggled to hear the bass at times. I'll have a word with SE next time we play. He was experienced a deep feedback ring that we couldn't identify and maybe he's dropped the bass FOH to help and possibly forgot to turn it back up. My wee fingers are aching tonight as i automatically play harder when i'm struggling to hear myself. In future i'll be setting my stage volume to suit me if FOH are just gonna turn me down. I always set my stage level to balance drum levels. Other than that we had dancers from the get go. Only sold 40 tickets but a lot of walk-ins which the owner said was pretty normal these days. Ended up reasonably busy when we started and the audience remained. We had folks up from Galashiels and some came over from Livingston to see us so we have a fan base out there πŸ˜‚ 2x1hr sets or thereabouts. 2 encores which was nice. Odd thing was we had a crowd of Goths in and they were loving it and dancing virtually every song. At the end while loading car I overheard one of them say he's not danced that much in ages and loved it. So that was nice. It was an 80-20% ticket deal tonight and we did OK with that as we usually do. Back again Sat before Xmas which is always a fun party night and very busy. Usual gear :- Sandberg VM4 Shure GLXD+ wireless Keeley Bassist Comp. Handbox WB100 Barefaced 212 cab Loving this bass cab. Its lightweight and easy to lift but retains so much depth and the wide angle dispersion means i can clearly hear it if standing right next to it. Only downside is i always find 12's lack the mid punch of a 10" speaker but its still a superb cab and i just need to tweak my EQ abit more. I am loving the tone i'm getting with this rig. No more distortion when i play slightly harder now since i dropped the P pick up a touch on the VM4. I can still trigger it if i dig in really hard but i'm trying to play a bit lighter these days to save damaging my wee fingertips on plucking hand. All in all a great wee night and the Pizza from next door was pretty good too. 50min drive home on quiet roads and a nice wee toasted pancake and coffee and now time for bed. Night night guys. Dave
  25. Blue Murder band had so much potential. Shame it never came to more. First class musicianship. Dave
